So Issue 6, apples hit the fan... hard.

I watched Equestria Girls today...it was...average. I felt that there was too much pandering (the chicken dance, and Vinyl's glasses being removed). Sunset Shimmer was a generic mean girl, but with some clever twists. The parts where AU and normal Pinkie knew what happened bothered me. Human Pinkie could've just said that she heard all of Twilight and Spike's conversation, and when Celestia said "You'll upset the balance of the other world if you all go"...did anyone else get reminded of when Zordon said "Too much Pink will crash the Morphing Grid"? Also, human Luna looks AWFUL.

Overall 5.5/10.

The human princesses look really weird.
The redesign didn't work for them.

Today was my first encounter with a brony outside of my circle of friends and the internet. A guy around 19 years old walking around with a chibi Pinkie plushie. It was awkward.

Psh. Human Celestia looked off, you don't see me complaining about it.

Anyway, as a movie, I felt it did well enough. It told it's story well enough, Human Pinkie knowing everything was scoffed off by the others, so I didn't mind it (That and it was immediately followed by the "HE CAN TALK!?!" line which may have mellowed any issues I would've had with it :lol), Sunset was generic, but she was really no worse than Nightmare or Sombra. Then again, I like schemers...
For the fanservice, they weren't subtle, but they weren't blatant either. They didn't shove it in your face (Scootaloo's chicken dance is a blink and you'll miss it, Trixie's cape and hat only show up in the background, Vinyl's glasses being removed wasn't a big scene, etc etc), so the little shout outs didn't really get to me and it just felt like the animators having fun.

It's an average movie, but to me and a few others, going into it ready to hate it and coming out liking it, that's where the charm emerged.

The very fact that such a ridiculous idea managed to work is already a win in my book.

True. At least it wasn't the billboard in Sonic Rainboom, and I never said I hated Sunset. I feel she was better near the end, since everything else she was doing before her plan went into action were typical "mean girl" things like making and embarrassing video and posting it on the internet, and whatnot.

One more thing, when Twilight said that Equestia would survive without her Element, my thought was this: If it weren't for the Elements of Harmony, then Equestria would either have been engulfed in eternal night, or eternal chaos, Equestria would be doomed.

I did enjoy it. I was afraid that the high school thing would change the characters a bit, and I'm glad it didn't. I'm also glad that the romance subplot was rather subdued, and a 5.5/10 doesn't mean I hate it, it just means I think it's average. Not great, not horrible, just average. Which is good, since I was expecting to hate it going in.

Well, Discord had changed and Luna was reformed, so those threats are gone, and the most recent threats were solved by Cadance and the Crystal ponies, not the elements, so Twilight was right in that Equestria could survive without it, now.

Anyway, I didn't say that you disliked Sunset, just that I felt that she was no worse than villains we've already had.

And dammit. Help Twilight win the Crown is stuck in my head again...

I think Twilight didn't think it very hard, sure with Cadence, Shining Armor Discord, Luna and Celestia. Equestria was probably in good hands.

But it simply sounded irresponsible.
