Toyline Disappointments
Since I see so many people on the boards wishing for a 2010 Dragonzord, it got me wondering what other disappointments various Toku lines might have brought. What I'm talking about is less "X character should have a Figuart" and more "X character didn't have this accessory", or "X line didn't include Y".
Here are so of mine - There was no Variblune in the Gokaiger minipla line. It was kinda disappointing that most series get a movie exclusive minipla, but then they didn't do the vehicle from the first Super Sentai series for the 35th anniversary. - Gokai Pink should have come with better accessories. The double pistol thing was nice, but I'd have rather Yellow come with her two wired swords and then Pink come with something for the entire team (like the Galleon Buster or even the key chest) rather than having another figure's accessories forced onto her. Anyone have any others? |
I'd wish my SHF Tatoba would have had the Scanning Charge's Batta legs, and out folding claws rather than swappable ones. And a stand.
And all the medals from Megamax not being released. Especially since they were all in the scanner too. :/ |
To date I think the biggest missed opportunity for any Toku series was "Dino Thunder."
BOA came up with this great new "action figure pack" to sell the other Dino-Zords but left out the Cephala Zord for apparently no reason, meaning any American collector for this series would have to import unless they wanted a one-armed Ultrazord. As for non-toku stuff... Transformers ANIMATED! This series had so many excellent designs that never saw release, with my #1 missed opportunity of this series going to Omega Supreme. |
Where the hell is my SIC Kiwami Tamashii Ibuki?
|
The 2010 MMPR. Having hunted down the super legend green ranger , white ranger and lord zedd. All I wanted was the other 5 in the same series. Hell...pink won a poll to be made next and then they switched the scale and the articulation was terrible. The weapons were all black. No dragonzord like you stated. Here I am a few years later , counting down the days to the SHF versions make up for that.

Out of what I have so far...
Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger - Very disappointed that S.H. Figuarts Gokai Silver does not come with his Gozyu Darin while the main Gokaigers have their own Gokai Darin units. Also disappointed that there's no Gokai Galleon Buster available in this line. - Where's S.H. Figuarts Gokai Silver Gold Mode? Garo - For the price, S.H. Figuarts Garo is lacking in accessories. Bandai should've also included the Madou Lighter and flaming Garoken just like in the larger (but very fragile) Makai Kado Garo figure. - Also disappointed that S.H. Figuarts Zero is a Tamashii Web exclusive. - S.H. Figuarts Taiga is a bit of a letdown, as it's an unnoticeable repaint of Garo with a larger sword. - And it seems that Kiba and Dan will not receive the S.H. Figuarts treatment. |
In general, Megazords as a whole. Aside from flashier paint apps, the toys feel like I'm playing with stuff right out of '85. It especially hurts when adding things like elbows and hips wouldn't hinder the transformation in the slightest.

I would also echo the Super Legends sub-line. Was so looking forward to more. I would have gladly given up my Ninja Storm Green (both versions) and Lightspeed (?) Titanium Rangers for more MMPR ones. Atleast finish off the original 5.
|
NO Sentai mecha aside from Battle Fever Robo in the SOC line(wait does Leopoldon or WTF ever he is called count?). I want combining, fully articulated and transforming sentai mecha. SOC Daizyujin would be cool.
Disappointed that BoA didn't take the opportunity in 2010 to make the Megazord fully articulated. They gave it knees...why stop there? The 5.5" Super Legends or whatever they were called...not articulated enough. Shogun Megazord having a pink zord instead of Tsuruhime's original white color(yeah yeah I know I know not to confuse the kids but blech pink ruins the look of the Shogun Megazord). I forgot what the BoA TRU exclusive $10 posable zords are called but WTF is up with the inconsistent articulation? It boggles the mind. |

-Why are Retrofires so dumb? Please, if you're going to throw a bone to collectors, don't make statues with movable parts. The entire point of giving an action figure joint is allowing it to assume multiple poses, not just the one t comes packaged in.
-OCC Tajadoru didn't come with a translucent Taka head. Minor complaint, but still. I'm also annoyed that they didn't make a Burakawani, despite making a Putotyra that can split apart. -First run freebies are annoying. Nothing annoys me more than ordering a Figuart close to ts release and realizing it's the second shipment, without the freebie. -Roleplay items in general are rather overpriced. I don't know if that's the fault of having to import, the exchange rate, or just the toys being stupidly popular. -The Figurerise line hasn't really delivered much. Just a bunch of W, Tatoba and Ichigo. I'd like to see it expand more. -What is up with NS Magphone sounds in the Fourze roleplay line? -Why is it that the Figuarts Shinkengers come with dozens of hands to hold things, but no phone version of the Shodophone/Sushichanger? |

I'll definitely second the Garo accessories complaint and add in the lack of paint on Zaruba. Also on the Garo subject: the Garo subline of SIC KT. 'nuff said. |
i would say the samurai megazord yes i saw the panel video but i look at it and thought they could of done simple transformation to embolem modes as in DRagon head fold in and then while it looks like going to leg it slides to form the symbol apes all the joints are then to make it to the symbol and bear simular to dragon

Mmpr dx tors ruined by inaccurate stickers and stupid colour changes (pink shogun zord arm, black thunder zord thighs and lion head). Kanzen gokaioh's mecha graveyard.
|
I wish S.H.Figuarts Akibarangers came with Moe Moe Zukyuun in doll mode.

As for why they haven't done a Gold mode yet.. I'm not sure how the Japanese reacted to him, but he seems to have been a pretty unpopular form. The Sentai line is also pretty new, they haven't released many figures at all yet and personally, I'm happy with them releasing new figures, rather than constantly releasing slight variants of ones they've already done. I think everyone is sick of Shinken Red by this point and the poor sales of his super mode means we probably won't see any others like that for a while. Which again, is fine by me. Release more of the teams first, before going back to supers and variants. Armoured Tyranno ranger is one I can pretty much guarantee will be released next year regardless though. |
lol my entire blog is about this

Disappointed that SH Figuarts Knight Survive won't come with Darkraider =/
|
Of course, for Power Rangers Samurai, I was disappointed in the lack of emblem modes for the Zords. I was also disappointed that the Morphers were so cheaply made, with terrible play value for their asking prices.
For Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger's DX mecha, I was disappointed that a lot of the combinations left out accessories as "spare parts". I absolutely hated having a wonderful combination ruined by having swords, cannon and individual mecha lying around useless. In fact, I hated that Yellow and Pink get left out of most combinations. I was disappointed that Gokaioh and GoZyuJin had no decent combination with each other that didn't involve other mecha. |
I'm sad these never came out...
http://www.jefusion.com/2010/08/sh-f...ect-parts.html also for Transformers Animated...forget Omega Supreme...howzabout never getting the Constructicons??? Dude, Rodimus was in the show for maybe 45 seconds...gets a figure, Wreck Gar? 2 episodes..got a figure (never could find one...) Even Blackout got a figure, though never brought to the US...but the Constructicons were in like 4 or 5 episodes and they recieved no love... |
Those effect parts are pretty cool. I think the biggest hindrance is that it's releasing effects for 7 different items...
But I do like that one sided Metal Branding effect (The Heat set did include a flaming Metal shaft piece, but it had 2 huge flame effects on both ends, making it extremely heavy and unwieldy to pose with) and the flaming feet/stand part (The Joker Grenade fist piece is kind of redundant, since the Heat set (Which included Heat/Joker) also had one :lol) Anyway, back to disappointments: Now that I'm watching Blade, I'm kind of disappointed that he hasn't gotten a Figuart. I know the point of the thread wasn't "Why doesn't X have a Figuart," but the fact that not a single character from his series has a representative yet is what's killer. |
I'm gonna be disappointed when the rest of the Dinobots are not released for the Fall of Cybertron line. ;P
But really the only huge disappoint I've felt so far is that Mini-Pla GokaiOh was originally released without any Gokai cannon parts (I'm not counting that sad excuse for a cannon included with Gokai Marine) and that all the limbs were molded in black. Just lazy.. but at least it got a second release. |
The Go-On Wings key not being properly painted, and the Gold and Silver Ranger keys not being metallic
|
The Samurai Auxillery Zord line. Not all the Zords, mind you. Lightzord, the smallv ersion of Clawzord/Scorpion, especailly. But what really bothers me are those little, non-posible, poorly-painted figures the Zords come with. Then they have the outright gaul to sell them for 12.99-14.99 depending on where you shop. They could've sold them all for ten bucks if they'd just done away with those damn figures, that look to cheap for McDonald's 80's kids Meals.

the ooo figuarts line, its stupid how my favorite series has horrible figuarts. i dont need to say anything about the ankles cause we all know that, but that it only doe sone of the three gimmicks its supoosed to do. it usually only does the arms gimmick and thats it, on taja and puto theres NO gimmicks. figuarts are supposed to represent the show, and it just doesnt do that

The one I need is White Tiger. I know it doesn't connect like in the show, but I love it so much I don't care. I just could never find the damn thing. My KMart always just had Octo and Shark. |

Bandai. I swear on the cheap plastic you pass off as toys; If you sell the Gosei Headers seperetely, instead of as a three pack, I will hunt each one responsable for the decision. Strap you to chairs Clockwork Orange style. And make you watch every episode of Operation Overdrive over, and over, and over. Untill you melt like Walter Donovan in the Last Crusade when he drank from the wrong cup. Don't choose poorly. |

The Ranger key line has definitely been a disappointment. Considering it's been going for 2 years, if they planned it properly, they could have easily gotten every ranger out by now. Instead, it looks like we're done and the gashpon releases didn't even finish out the collection.
There could still be a big premium set released that finishes everything, but I'd hate to see the price tag on something like that. |

On the subject of Ranger Keys, it's good that we finally completed the Reds with the Ranger Key Set SP. However, as you can see on the photo below, Change Dragon (Changeman) is missing the gold highlights on his helmet (and those stood out the most on the show) and Mega Red (Megaranger) is missing the colored squares on his chest. At least Bandai did a good job on Red One (Bioman).

thisll sound wierd, but i really wanted a fourze switch pad, a role play cosmic chest plate that says the name wen u press the symbol, who wouldnt buy that
