Happy Anniversary, Power Rangers!
 

Today, August 28th 2012 is the 19th anniversary of the first airing of "Power Rangers."

The world is a far more interesting place thanks to their heroic, colorful antics. :D


In celebration, Saban has opened their official Anniversary site with new images, wallpapers, and plenty of hype for the Mega-forceful big 2-0 celebration next year.

I love how the majority of the "Power Force" either run Power Rangers sites or are internet "celebrities". Has Linkara even watched all of Power Rangers yet?

I must not get around the internet enough. The only person I know of from that list is Black Nerd. I only just heard of him recently.

I watched the debut episode about 10 times the day it premiered. Taped it and watched it over and over. Good times.

Wow, was it really a saturday morning 19 years ago today? I guess it was because school did not start for another week and a half.

Interesting to see so many familiar internet names among the Power Force. I like that Saban acknowledges that fans are the ones who would be the most excited about the anniversary. Hopefully we can get some of our big shots here there too. :)

They also have a great selection of wallpapers. I love that they're available in a large number of formats.

Just a question, what's a "Ranger Gram"?

Okay I might have been exaggerating a bit with "internet celebrities" :lol But my point was that from what I gather Power Force was a competition run to find the biggest Power Rangers fans out there. The 20 names on the site are all either "popular" bloggers or people with reasonable contacts within the franchise already. Obviously some names like that were a given (I'd have been very surprised to not see Keith Justice or Fury Diamond on there) but when they all are from those backgrounds it seems less about granting fans a once in a lifetime opportunity and more about picking ones that may be able to give back to Saban in one way or another. Just my thoughts.

As for the wallpapers, they're really nice but hopefully a few more will go up over the next year. I'd love a Zeo one in that style.

Not really, I'm only 30.

But yeah, I remember now that it was indeed before school started because on the first day of 6th grade I asked some of those in my class if they had watched Power Rangers and had to explain what it was.

I was only four when the show started. Even back then I knew Rita Repulsa's voice never synced well with the original Zyuranger footage. :lol

I see. Yeah and based on what you said i'd agree it would seem that the people chosen are chosen because of their out reach or audience they have as opposed to just to just being a huge fan of Power Rangers.

Either way, Cheers to 20 years! I can remember form the moment i saw them as a kid thinking wouldn't it be cool since they do all this martial arts if they just wore ninja suits and then to have it happen, I couldn't have been happier.
