Chōjin Sentai Jetman
When the interdimensional organization Vyram attacks the Earth Ship developing superhero powers known as Birdonic Waves, the powers of the Birdonic Waves are sent spiraling to the Earth, being infused with four random civilians. It is up to Ryu Tendoh, the Red Hawk, to locate the four civilians and unite them together to stop Vyram, becoming Chōjin Sentai Jetman!

Gai grabbing the Vyram trooper by the balls and punching Ryu in the face after lighting his smoke pretty much sets the tone for me. I am a sucker for the bad boy of any respective superhero group. He is easily the coolest sentai member I am aware of.

Jetman is all kinds of great. It doesn't start out as great as it is, but gets there by episode 9 or 10. Gai maybe the most awesome ranger ever. There's episodes where he only has 2-3 lines and he still steals the show. I like most of the characters (villians and supporting cast included)...except Kaori, but I'll get to that next week.

One of these episodes has the Fighter Dimension, right? That thing is rather cool looking. In fact, I like most of Jetman's monster designers. They're like Lord Zedd's old gimmick of turning items into monsters, except done a little better.

Haha, Jetman's actually on my list of shows I'm currently watching, but I haven't gotten around to a new episode in a while, so I'll probably try and pick it back up when we get to where I left off. I thought the first couple episodes were great, and I love the suit designs.

Hm...I might actually try doing this Let's Watch. 3 episodes is easy to fit into my watching routine and Jetman is something I've wanted to check out.

This should've been Power Rangers.

I understand why they didn't. The sixth ranger and all the reasons I've heard before. And it does look a little dated tech-wise, to be honest. Still loving it.

Episode One Thoughts

I do enjoy Radije. very nice design, very cleanly done without use of the animatronic mouths some baddies use now. I did not see Rei being blown out into space though. I admit that. (Something they probally couldn't pull off for an American audiance)
I feel for him. Loses his girlfriend, gets punched in the stomach, then thrown around when he wakes up.

On a random note: Amazing how four beams all shoot off from SPACE at different angles, and yet somehow, someway, all end up in a twenty mile raidus of Tokyo. Science is the enemy of the Jetman :lolol

And how exactly did his field magically become a rock quarry?!

Grey is another awesome design, Tran... Yea. Not so much. The Jetman suits though make up for it. Simple but epic at the same time, Simepic? Eple? So is Camp Sky, very SPD HQ.

Is Rei the final Vyram? Maria?

Sentai, do you mean Radiguet? I can't think of anything named "Radije"

I've never done a Let's Watch Wednesday, so this might be a decent time to start, since we're beginning a new show. Hope that Jetman is a fun show.

I might. The subtitle I saw said Radije. The big Blue Guy thats attacks Earth Station.

You watching GUIS subs? It may have been a typo at first and fixed on the v2 in the batch (which is what I have). Eitherway, his name is Radiguet.

PPS Forgot how many tentacles were in these early episodes. Oh Japan.

Honestly, I think the Jetman drinking game is to take a shot whenever someone is being choked by a tentacle or a rope/whip (oh, Maria).

Now that I've seen most of the episodes, I've been smitten by both Black Condor & Red Hawk. Those SHF figures will be mine! :D

Grey is one of those really interesting looking Android Villians and as intimitating looking as Guarnoid Gush from Liveman.

What do all of the villians have to hide from each other?

Ahhh good old Jetman! Definitely happy to be revisiting the awesome badassery of Yuki Gai. And it'll be just in time for his Figuart to be released when we really get into the swing of this series :)

Y'know what's so interesting about these first episodes, and Jetman as a whole? A complete Roll Call hasn't happened yet, and won't happen til episode 5. After that, I believe it only happens twice.

What's funny is that when you guys started watching Dairanger, I was already in the middle of it, and now as you're watching Jetman, I'm already a quarter of the way into that haha

I'm always a step ahead of you guys :P

He's gonna get his OWN Dimension Empire someday. With blackjack, and hookers.

So, I got around to watching 1-3 today. Going in with little knowledge about Jetman(Gokaiger taught me everything I know :lol), I was surprised at what I was seeing. That first episode felt like I was watching a Sci-fi show instead of a Sentai. A really good one. I was rather surprised at the civilian causualties caused by the Dimension Beasts, more used to that happening in Kamen Rider. The Vyram are a paranoia inducing threat, being able to project themselves anywhere, and turn everyday objects into the instrument of your death. Liking the team so far. Definitely seeing a Figuarts Red Hawk and Black Condor in my collection in the near future. Really eager to watch 4-6 tomorrow.

ok...I'm in...lol...I am so glad I have red and black on pre-order now...The fact Ryu uses Rider Kick and Rider Punch in plain clothes fight is awesome...but also he had a logical way of taking out a giant monster in episode 2 was pretty cool...and Gai...holy hell the fact he uses dirty bar fighting IN costume is just great! Not to mention, yeah that cop, she did have nice legs lol.

So, we going to get a topic for 4-6 soon?
