Go-Busters Mission 28 discussion "Warning: Likelihood of Chickens"
SPOILERS BELOW
First off let's just say that the new opening does a number on this show. After last weeks episode I sensed that Toei was turning things around and I think this new opening makes that even more apparent. It's much more upbeat, there are a ton of really great group shots of all the Busters and Buddys (which were severely lacking in the old opening) and some newly filmed action shots that really set it off. If Toei is trying to change the tone then this is a step in the right direction. Another good move is the great fight coreography. It seems they've really stepped that up and made the fights alot more fun and energetic. Last week's opening battle sans Beet and the Ryuuji/Enter fight were both fantastic. The Sprayroid, while painful to look at, is a pretty good villain. Loved that he was supposed to put the team into disarray and just went crazy with making duplicates. And water as the cure? Brilliant. :lol Now the plan to fake out the Sprayroid was also pretty brilliant. I expected the real Hiromu to rush him while Nick (as red Buster) attacked. I liked what they did here instead. The Gock and Magock connection to Esacpe was also very interesting. And I knew the seed was being planted last episode about Messiahs' evolution so it was very pleasant to see that coming to fruition so soon in this episode. I mean we'll actually come face to face with Messiah Cell next week! And I guess it's nice to have an actual reason why Hiromu is afraid of chickens, even as silly as it is. We keep getting a great amount of plot in pretty rapid succession. I think Toei has finally recognized just how boring and terrible this show was up to this point. If the bad toys sales weren't enough then I'd say the fact that this is the lowest rated Sentai ever may have gotten their attention. It seems some creative changes both behind and on screen are doing this show many favors. If this continues we could actually get a reverse Hibiki treatment for this series. If you're like me and have barely been able to keep interest up til now then I think we are in for some more very unexpected, but pleasant, surprises. |
the episode preview made this seem like it was going to be a light heart comedic episode, but I'm glad it wasn't the case. Wasn't sure about the opening at first, I like the song though. Looks like I maybe right with the theory that Escape and Enter are based on the bodies of the engineers
Also it's odd not hearing them go through the role call. |
Holy shit.
Houston, we have a plot. |
"Never mind about chickens and graffiti monsters, now something's happening!"
|
Fantastic Episode. I kinda wanted to see Hiromu get over the whole chicken thing, but I guess it's okay that we at least got an explanation of it. Lots of great J moments, as always. The new opening is a lot more fast paced, and I think is an improvement over "Busters! Ready! Go!"(Please don't kill me. :lol) Anyway, if the show keeps up with these last two episodes, it's definitely going in the right direction.
And if Escape really is Hiromu's mom, just brainwashed or something, I think it'd cause some great conflict with Hiromu not wanting fight her. |
Actually i believe that Enter and Escape are based on Hiromu and his sister. They are after all avatars created by papa/Messiah. I think it could stand to reason that some part of Hiromu's father (and the other busters family/friends) personalities may have been absorbed by Messiah to enhance him. I believe subconciously Messiah has tapped into memories of Hiromu and Rika to create his avatars.

Looking back, I think they've been dropping hints in this general direction, given the speculation on "what happened to the parents".
Now what would be a huge twist is if Hiromu's parents, along with the other engineers, were WILLINGLY in league with Messiah. After all, why is it ONLY Jin who is rebelling, and not anyone else? |
As much as I hate to admit it, the new Go-Busters makes the old Go-Busters look like garbage... The new opening is growing on me. The fact that it keeps mentioning that fact that there's 5 senshi and not 3 makes me wonder if the upcoming lion bike mecha is going to be associated with a new senshi(R/LaiBuster, anyone? :lol) There's also plot, which is another improvement. Go-Busters was starting to get boring for me, but I can honestly say that I'm genuinely interested again. I think Go-Busters feels a lot more like a normal sentai show now(which may or may not be good depending on who you are). I was afraid the normality of the plot would cause the mecha fight to assume the typical "use the strongest combination and win immediately" formula, but I was delighted to see it was just Buster Hercules doing the fighting, and to see J being funny right after the gattai. I just hope this show doesn't kill off Vagrass, because I want Go-Busters to keep it's villains.
EDIT: Oh. And dancing Go-Buster Beet is awesome. |
I'm hoping we get a Dekamaster-like character out of Kuroin, after seeing the way he handled that mop an episode ago.

That was a really fun episode, and it continued to show that J is fantastic at being J.
Also holy shit dat plot drop at the very end. I wonder how everything is going to play out? I really didn't follow the theory of Nick dying/upgrading that I've seen pop up now and then after the recent catalog scans, but after the next episode preview and what's shaping up to be a mid-season plot-shift I might have to subscribe to that theory. |
I'm sorry? Second opening?!

What if they just upgrade Nick so that he can pilot Ace himself? |

Finally got around to watching the episodes, and I like the changes I saw.
Still not feeling the opening theme much, but the visuals are much better and the fact they're playing the team as a 5-piece rather than a 3+2 one now feels so much better, both in the show and its opening/ending. The BGM used in this episode felt much more like traditional, "heroic" Sentai music too. A very encouraging episode, and next week's looks like its going to be where the show truly kicks into overdrive. |
I loved how Jin and Ryuuji reacted once Hiromu walked into the room after the chicken story.

So i was bored and i decided to watch this episode.... Keep in mind i havent watched a full episode since episode 17.... it was suprisingly good, but i wont keep up with it since i just hate this show.... people say beet and stag saved the show and i agree they are enjoyable but in my eyes 2 characters cannot redeem a show
|
No two characters can't redeem a show, but a massive U-turn in plot and pacing could. And if the last few episodes have showed us anything this could be exactly what we're getting.
