Bluefin Tamashii Release Of S.H. Figuarts Red Hawk To Feature New English Packaging!
 

Bluefin Tamashii just announced on their facebook that their release of S.H. Figuarts Red Hawk, from the Super Sentai series, Chojin Sentai Jetman, will be coming is a brand new English Packaging and include brand new English Instructions!

This change was made to facilitate the removal of the Akibaranger Inordinate Power, The Jet Winger, given the fact that Bluefin Tamashii is currently not allowed to sell S.H. Figuarts DekaRed, BoukenRed, or any of the Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger items due to liscensing.

Boo. Gonna have to be extra careful not to buy a US Red Hawk when I can afford him then.

This was the prompt I needed to go ahead and cancel my Amazon preorder and buy it on Amiami. Also got DekaRed, since I was wistfully looking at that for the past week and didn't want to buy it by itself. With EMS shipping they work out to Bluefin's price anyway(well, assuming DekaRed would've cost the same as Red Hawk if Bluefin released him).

Probably get them before the Bluefin one ships, too.

English packaging you say? I know they probably had to get new packaging due to the lack of the Jet Winger, but I hope they do this more going forward.

Why the yay? Okay you might not want the wingpack, but its not like you're paying significantly less for the figure because it isn't included.

Well I'm officially not buying the US version. I have no interest in getting it with out the Jet Winger. Oh well. Good thing the JP version is only like 2500 yen.

Pretty much this. Even though I won't use the Jet Winger, it'll feel odd having it missing.

I have to wonder how long Bluefin have known that they wouldn't be including the Jet Winger, because you'd think that's something they should have probably mentioned when preorders first went up.

Awe crap. I had my comic store order him (and Black Condor), so I am screwed because there is no way to cancel the orders. Why couldn't they have told us this months ago??!!

And what is preventing them from selling the other rangers? They said earlier this year they were going ot start releasing the Sentai ones.

Saban has the licensing for basically anything from Zyu onwards

So they're removing the Jet Winger? That sucks. Maybe this will make the US version easier to get though, in case I later on decide I do want a Red Hawk to go with my Black Condor.

I understand that, but that shouldn't stop Bluefin from being able to bring imports into the US. If Saban is cockblocking them, then I will stop support anything Power Rangers.

Copyright issues. The were able to get Jetman but can't get rights to Boukenger and Dekaranger. Most likely because those are licenses that Bandai America still holds. They worked out a special arrangement to get Shinken Red and Gold here in the US. But they couldn't do the same for these. And since they can't or won't get an Akibaranger agreement then anything to do with that show can't be released here. Like the Jet Winger.

Honestly it makes sense to me.

I'm also going to take the new packaging as a good sign for the future.

Why can't they do AkibaRanger? No one holds the license to it in the states? Sure, I already imported them, but still, it seems like Sentai is always getting gyped over here.

However, they never bothered to do the Gokaigers either, which no one had the license for at the time.

Nevertheless, that does not excuse Bluefin for not telling us this months ago. They could have just said, "The US release will not include the AkibaRanger weapon."

Glad I got the Japanese version, got it earlier than BlueFn and the Wing is awesome. Not that I don't appreciate what BlueFin is doing, but since I'm all in with Akibarangers, I need everything!! :D

I'm happy I got the Japanese version but I feel bad for those who got this thinking it would have the Jet Winger. At least Black Condor will be alright.

Ordered the Bluefin Black Condor, though, which I'm kind of hoping still has Japanese packaging, since I'm a bit obsessive compulsive too haha

Saban automatically have the rights to any new Sentai show, it's in the contract, so it doesn't matter if it hasn't been adapted yet. I have no idea how Akibaranger fits in, but I'm sure they would have brought them over, if they were able to.

It's a bit unfair to blame Saban though. They have to protect their interests, yadda, yadda, yadda.. and after Shinken Red/Gold, it's hardly surprising they don't care to release more. You can at least be sure the Zyurangers will definitely be brought over to the US though, even if they're exclusives in Japan.

So the only reason we're not getting the Jet Winger is because Saban is indecisive about Akibaranger...
At least they managed to do pretty awesome with Black Condor.

I probably should have waited for this release since I don't care about the Jetwinger accessory. And I'm still waiting for mine to arrive from Japan :(

Shinken Red and Shinken Gold happened because it fell in a lull between major product pushes with Bandai of America. BoA got a majority of the sales from the toys, and it was out in between their own product waves, including a larger push for Samurai toys.

Was win-win, except they didn't sell hardly at all, as no parent wants to buy a $35 action figure with parts that a child would most likely eat.

Do we know the Shinkengers sold badly? I got the impression they moved fairly well.

They moved VERY well in my area. To the extent that I didn't see them more than once a week on the shelves for months. They were completely gone since about February until my TRU restocked and got one assortment in last week.

They moved well in my area as well. However that's just the eye test and probably not representative of how they did as a whole. I just hope BoA will do the same for the Gokaigers, or at least Marvelous.

It's weird, because the town I live in is fairly affluent, and I've met a number of other collectors here, and rare/quality figures go fast. Yet at the TRU here there's been like 6 Shinken Reds and 2 Shinken Golds for months and months. Meanwhile, at the TRU an hour away in a smaller, poorer town, the only remaining Figuarts are two poorly painted Reds. And that TRU is like an oasis of reasonably hard to find stuff, and it just piles up.
