Episode 1 seems to have been a rather huge success. Now we start to get some more of our new shabadoobie rider in action! This episode we get:

-The White Wizard

-Haruto's first new supporting character

-And a badass Hell Hound Phantom riding his own bike!

Also depending on whether your watching the TVN or OT subs the terms of mage and wizard are interchangeable depending on the translation and context of 'mahou'.

It's not just you, I totally see it, too. I'm probably going to hate him as much as Gai, too (especially his theme song, which is terrible). Still, when he cornered Haruto at the donut shop I do have to admit he had me laughing my ass off. So maybe there's hope for him after all.

Ironically, I had a donut the day before the first episode aired. It was magically delicious :P

I really like the monster design this week. The design reminds me of a Nanashi from Shinkenger that got a promotion and serious power upgrade.

Another great episode with some really nice character development. Now I really want to know what is so special about the police force. Are they run by Phantoms or are they actually controlled by the white wizard (or someone related) trying to keep people out of getting involved?

BTW, I want the Figuarts NOW!!! I want to have each form holding a Power Battery for their color (so Ground Form with the Sinestro Corp Battery, Fire Form with the Red Lantern Battery) spouting the oath to those corps. Plus, I want to do a "You Shall Not Pass" one and some other stuff.

Enjoyed the episode as much or more than the first. LOVED the giant hand power. I really hope someone makes the magic portal sigils as an accessory or effect part.

Another really fun really great episode! Really dug Harutos' origin and the White Wizards' design. He's got a bit of an Enternal vibe with the ring belts around his chest. Hopefully he'll be like Skull and we'll see some more of him through flashbacks. Am I the only one who wants old man Wajima to be the White Wizard? :lol

And damn I keep getting hit in the face with how hot Rinko is!

This show and Ninja Turtles is going to make me so fat...er...

There's a lot to like here.

All the fights were good. One of note is a GOOD bike fight. It's rare enough to see a riders use their bikes at all, so this felt rather special. We get to see Big in action and it looks silly, but cool. Aside from that, just more Flame and Hurricane goodness. Oh, and there's one little bit I liked. There's a moment of wire work where Wizard jumps off Hellhound's sword. It was quick, but I really liked it.

It looks like we might have a Rinko sub plot involving police. I enjoy police involvement in super hero shows. Speaking of Rinko, I like how she seemed to have forgotten she was wearing that huge ring. :lol

I'll probably hate Shunpei 10 episodes from now, but I've braced myself for him being the annoying apprentice. Surprisingly, the major supporting cast looks like they will be useful.

I really liked the origin story and White Wizard looks awesome. I liked how they explained Koyomi's crystal ball powers coming from her being a Gate to.


PS You can tell Haruto is a noob with the ATB system because he can't target other party members correctly. :p

i am in love with this series, its fantastic, the suit design is gorgeous, haruto is f*cking AWESOME (he's got tendou and tsukasa levels of douchebaggery and i love it)

I think I'm starting to understand how this works. A Gate works similar to how the Singularity Point worked in Den-O. Instead of being able to harness an Imagin you can bring forth a powerful Phantom, if they can make you despair. Or, in his case, control the Phantom and harness magic. And they're going around looking for these Gates in order to bring about more powerful Phantoms.

I think I'm close, anyway.

Hmm, definitely on par with the first, maybe slightly better because HellHound looks a hell... of a lot cooler than Minotarus.

I thought the origin was handled nicely too.

Looking ahead, I just hope it keeps it up. I liked Fourze's goofiness and its nice to see this series isn't all doom and gloom. I think it definitely handles the badass to goofy thing a lot better. That organization or whatever could go either way. They could have a hand in creating the second rider (like Ixa I guess) or could be an elite group of phantoms (kind of like the natives in kabuto)

Either way I'm looking forward to next week =)

I was going in expecting the sidekick to be completely and irredeemably obnoxious, but I actually found him pretty fun.

I love how this series always seems to go against all of my negative expectations.

I must say that the bike-fu scene is nowhere near episode 3 of Garo: Makai Senki, but it's one of the better bike scenes in all of Kamen Rider.

Yeah, that bike scene was great!

I really like how we're getting mythos and backstory right away with this show.

Yeah, so far Wizard hasn't been too overly obnoxious unlike Fourze at times.

Also, Shunpei looked a lot like Gai from Gokaiger in some shots, it's not the same actor is it?

Enjoying this a lot so far.

The White Wizard looks really cool, and the Hellhound chase was pretty tight.

So next week we get to see the Water ring at work, it seems?

I like Shunpei. The chase sequence was pretty funny. I hope he becomes a Rider, because in lots of series, the 'goofy' character basically becomes part of the backdrop once the Secondary Rider shows up.

No thanks. I'm hoping for Rinko to be the secondary. It'd be an awesome change of pace if we could get a female secondary rider. And i love her :) Shunpei is tolerable enough but I'd really rather a goofball like him not be a rider.

I'm fine with Rinko becoming a Rider, but it's really if the character permits, not because "We need more girls."

I hope Rinko WON'T become a Rider...it won't end well for her, if past female riders are any indication.

Hellhound looks like Kamen Rider Hibiki and Rio from Gekiranger had a baby. And then someone set it on fire.

Oh no. Oh god, no. That would be the worst thing ever. I'd take doughnut tranny as the secondary Rider over another Gai Ikari.

I'd like that more, but it'll never happen. I recently heard an explanation for why there are so few female Riders and it made the whole thing click with me, to the point where I doubt we'll ever see one as a regular on a show. Kamen Rider is, first and foremost, a merchandise-driven show for little boys. One of the biggest aspects of the merchandising is the roleplay belts and weapons. How many little boys in Japan are going to buy a roleplay belt that would turn them into a girl character?

I think I get what the PlaMonster's "sprue mode" is for. It seemed like it was used to recharge Garuda? Like one of those cordless mobile device chargers except the device has to be disassembled for some reason? :lol
So does Kamen Rider Gandalf only give a someone a belt if they're a gate, and they survived their phantom trying to take over, AND they did it without a ring? I hope not. The ideal Rider cast for me would be Wizard, who ever Rinko might be(and please don't kill her off like the first three times...), and whoever Shunpei might be, with Gandalf showing up every now and then to remind you to buy his Figuart.

It's unfortunate that we have to define what is a "boys" or "girls" toy. I'm sure there are little girls in Japan who like rider and sentai as well. But they get screwed on the role play toys in the current setup. I know that female characters, much like villains, don't sell and are hard to merchandise though. It's a shame that that puts us in situations like this. Where a female lead character in a power position is almost out of the question. It'd just be nice if franchises like this could appeal more, or would try to appeal more to young girls if they aren't willing to make their products broad enough to appeal to both demographics simultaneously.

It's called conformity, and Japan is a country all about it :p

I really enjoyed this episode. It seems like this show will be a lot more action packed than the previous rider shows i have watched. It just seems like these first two episodes have not put much into character development but rather the action sequences which i am enjoying thoroughly. I do hope to see more focus on character development in the future because to much action could be detrimental in the long run. I am also looking forward to see what kind of role the white wizard will play in the future of the show.
