The reason Ron Wasserman left Power Rangers revealed
 

Not going to frontpage it because it's not worth making a stink over it, but it does kind of show you how poorly Saban treated its employees back in the day. Over at RangerBoard, Ron has been going over his redux tracks (new songs up!), and he finally revealed why he ended up leaving Power Rangers in 1995.

To paraphrase, he was given two scenes to score for the MMPR: The Movie, to do it in the TV-style of rock. 20th Century Fox apparently loved it and wanted to go forward with him doing all the tracks. Saban found out that Ron Wasserman would be creditted as a "composer", which then opens up a ton of worms in terms of contracts/payments/etc., and told him "No thanks". Being the straw that broke the camels back, Ron then left production of the show (though still worked periodically from time to time I suppose).

Kind of sad, really. And makes you wonder just how good or bad it is that Saban is in full control of the property again.

Still better than Disney.

1995? But he did the theme songs for Zeo, Turbo, in Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue & Wild Force. Surely he couldn't have done all of those in advance before he left?

He did not do Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed or Wild Force. He DID come back for SPD, but Disney got furious about him leaking the theme on the internet, and wouldnt bring him back for Mystic Force despite him submitting a version or two. Instead they went with the Outkast ripoff.

Sigh, what a shame. Penny-pinching has always been the order of the day for Power Rangers since the concept of adapting Japanese concept was created to save money in the first place.

I think in this case, Saban would be the lesser of two evils. There's no denying that there are still many negatives with Saban though.

Saban's not my most favorite person around, but he's a tad better than Disney. Hopefully he's learned from his mistakes and hoping to improve himself.

Not surprised, based on what I'm read from interviews shoddy treatment was the reason why a lot of the original cast ended up leaving. It's a damned shame, but...let's hope that Saban's learned to treat people better with the change in the times.

Who exactly bullied David yost? Was it just the producers, or was it fellow castmates as welll? Do we know?

Well, it's a new day and age. FB, Twitter, Tumlbr, various forums. It'll be a lot easier to keep track and hear when/if Saban does screw someone over to save a penny...

Little of both. Yost wont point out names, which is honestly the best decision. There are stories floating around about JDF being an outright asshole on set. They've grown out of it now, especially seeing how Yost and Frank get along so well through various shows and interviews. Time heals wounds. People move on.

I can tell you from meeting JDF in person on several occasions that he's still an outright asshole. The guy is more full of himself than you can possibly imagine. It shattered the entire concept I had of him from my childhood after I met him.

One example, he was in Lexington for a local comic convention, as were several other PR alums. He did a martial arts exhibition that went over crazy well and then he left the room. I went to the bathroom and happened to run into him there. Where I caught him smoking, which isn't legal in a public facility here, and talking to himself about how disgusting the place was and that he thought he was gonna get a disease from walking around with no shoes on. He had taken them off for the exhibition and then not put them back on for some reason.

He also threw a fit because the organizers didn't get him a couch to lounge on at his booth when he didn't feel like signing anymore. I can definitely see how he would have been a bit of a douche on set.

That's really odd considering he did that interview where he said he would do more power rangers for a dollar just for the fans

Long as they take MMPR away from Bick, I think I can live with anything else Saban does. The way Nick does seasons is idiotic. Like Disney-era RPM idiotic.

Yeah, I can totally believe this. Just spending five minutes on his Facebook page can show you how arrogant the guy is.
