Kamen Rider Wizard 4 "The Doll and the Pianist" Discussion
A new Phantom has arrived looking for a new Gate!
Meanwhile Koyomi has fallen ill! Could the two incidents be related or is there something more sinister at work here? Is the White Wizard Haruto's future self? Discuss the magic PLEASE! |
it would be funny if we were looking at wizards final form weeks ahead of time
|
Catsith: Laziest kaijin ever. Wizard is just full of surprises and one never knows what'll come up next time.
|
Water-wizard busting out wrestling moves cracked me up. :)

Is Overtime late with the sub?

Edit: and lo and behold, it's up. Good episode. The MotW is pretty fun and the Biorider stuff was great. I'm interested to see what's up with Koyomi, too. But for the love of all that's holy, what the fuckity hell is up with Shunpei's technicolor pantyhose? |
I wonder if the Liquid Ring only works with Water, it would be awesome if it worked with others. Like say you used it with Fire, it could turn you into flames, or a torrent of rocks in Earth form. Or even better, in any other form it just turns you into Liquid Snake.
|
Oh Haruto, if you would just carry some Phoenix Downs you wouldn't spend all your MP on casting Raise.
Another good episode. Cat Sith is a lot fun to watch. |
I thought this was a little less solid than the first three, but still enjoyed it. The comedy bits were trying too hard for the most part. Liquid is an awesome power, too bad it's probably unlikely Bandai will release a clear blue Wizard figuarts! Might be a cool effect set down the line.
The Cat Sith was the comedy bit that worked best, he just wants to lie in the sun all day, like a real cat! I'm starting to think though that maybe the Phantoms are not the ultimate threat? Because right now the only one who's intimidating at all is Medusa - and this seems deliberate. I'm really interested to find out who Wiseman is! Since Cat Sith and Phoenix both seem to want to just kill the Gates instead of converting them to Phantoms, maybe the Gates are a threat to Wiseman's agenda somehow? The developments with Koyomi are interesting, as is the unexpected power limitation Wizard seems to have. |
Jeez. Over-Time needs to seriously watch it with these subs. Just because the Phantom had a black actor doesn't mean he's gonna use a bunch of slang terms like 'dang' 'gotta' or 'jinvin' or call people sucka! Their casualness is getting to be unbearable when they do things like this. I'm almost certain that nothing that man said translates to 'sucka'.
My translation frustration aside this was a good episode. I've noticed from the beginning that Koyomi really is a little bitch. She's anti-social, she hates anybody with the least bit of personality, she seemsto dislike change very much. So far I really don't get her at all. But again this was a good episode. It's really cool and refreshing to see a rider have reasonable limits on their powers as well. OOO sort of did when he used to many combos but they eventually tossed that aside, same with Fourze doing too many limit breaks and using too much cosmic energy. Running out of Mana in the middle of a fight? That really grounds the characters that much more. |
So after watching this episode, I really want to see an OOO/Wizard crossover film.
Given that it's being suggested that Koyomi may be a homoculi of some sort, it seems like an easy way to resolve that dangling Ankh plotline that we know eventually will get resolved. Also, Catsith = awesome. |

Another great episode. On the down side, this being the first KR series I am watching as it airs since Decade blows because I miss being able to watch as many episodes as I can in one sitting.
|
Just finished it. Another really fun episode, reminded me how much I hate cliffhangers. Can't wait for next week's.

I think Cait Sithe is likeā¦the best MOTW ever. |

Or are you just saying we'll never see it resolved? |
Koyomi's interesting, she reminds me of how Kengo acted in Fourze at first, but towards the side characters instead of the main Rider. I want to see where her story goes.
And, Cat Sith, what can I say, I love this guy. His whole lazy attitude, like, the previous two Phantoms seemed to have well thought out plans, he was just like, "Screw that! You say, he's a pianist? I'm just gonna cut this guy's hands off! Quote:

I understand this goes to Kayumi's character growth, but I do not like her. Possessive, bland, boring, quiet...
Anyway, Water form and his liquid power is pretty cool, Cat Sith was a pretty neat monster, and I enjoy how he tried to put on a normal front, even when first confronted. I actually hope he sticks around. He's a lot more interesting than Phoenix and Medusa. And it would be neat if we'd get a female rider and a black guy to stick around for more than an episode or two :lol |
I'm thinking Water Style might be my favorite Wizard form for now...
Cat Scythe is pretty funny. Thought it was weird for one of the generals to reveal themselves so early on. Also, why the hell is Kayumi a magic doll person? o_o It's Overdrive all over again... Though I'm wondering, with Kayumi thinking she's the reason Cat Scythe got away, she might try to go all bushido on us in the next episode... |
I just realized Haruto actually got his donut.
|
For some reason I think Haruto is the Donut Guy's only customer.

But really, this ain't that surprising. Human dolls appear in myths from time to time. Plus, Fullmetal Alchemist is still popular and it had Homunculi, which are similar. Quote:

Just finished it. A bit of the humor, especially at the donut stand, seemed forced, but overall it was an okay episode. Not my favorite, but still good. I don't know why, but I literally lol'd at "ERROR!" I just can't get enough of that driver :lol Koyomi is coming off as more annoying than bitter and distant though. I can see what they were going for, but it just makes me hate her character.
|
Im not sure how you guys do it? I almost never learn the MOTW names and 4 episodes in and i still only know Haruto's name by heart. In my head the episode starred black guy speaking Japanese that turned to cat , hot cop , not gokai silver & cute bitter girl.
Water style is amazingly awesome!..Henshin noise and all! |

Cat Sith, Pheonix, Medusa, Hellhound (Don't remember the first guy, but I don't even remember his design xD). ^w^ |

About time we saw the limitation of Wizard's powers. Also, the Liquid form is a great homage to Bio Rider.
|
What the heck is Bio Rider? Did Kamen Rider and the Guyver have a baby or something?

cat monster is cool |
I think the pianist is gonna turn into a Phantom because he can't make a comeback. He wanted his hands cut off anyway.
|
Quote:
He could still become a Phantom, but considering this episode and next is more about the Koyomi and introducing the concept of mana, I doubt it. There's enough going on and it's still early in the show. |
Great episode as always.
Does anyone feel that the cinematography is a little different in Wizard? A bit more shaky, fast-paced and occasionally harder to follow than is usual for Kamen Rider. It might take some getting used to. |

So, about people thinking Cat Sith/Scythe will become a main villain, he has a human form, Minotaurus and Hellhound don't.
Fingers crossed. ^^ |
