Gokaiger Episode 49 - "The Greatest Treasure in the Universe" Episode Discussion
Last week, the Gokaigers managed to finally defeat Basco, obtaining the remaining Ultimate Powers needed to unlock the Greatest Treasure in the Universe!
So what is the Greatest Treasure in the Universe? And since the Zangyack have been so quiet the last few episodes, what do they have in store? We're a few episodes away from the finale - it's time for Gokaiger to begin their ultimate battle against the evil space empire of the Zangyack! Discuss Episode 49! |
Holy... fucking shit. The greatest treasure and it's twist I DIDN'T see coming. And Insarn kinda just got offed, so as to leave to loose eneds. GREAT episode, though.
|
All I have to say about this episode is....Navi is quite literally a door :lol
|
So if it looks like the Tri-Force, talks like Tri-Force, and functions like the Tri-Force...
|
Ahhh, I knew this was going to be the twist.
"Destroy the Zangyack forever, thus bringing back all your old planets, friends, and families ... but forever erase the existence of the 34 Super Sentai powers". Thus allowing GoBuster to literally be a "fresh start" ... though I have to admit, the previews make it look AWESOME so far with some great, amazing camera angles and such. More like an "action movie" than a "action show". |
Huh.
I actually thought that the twist would've been that, because the Zangyack were erased, they would've never met. Nice twist though. Episode could've been better though. But it was alright. |
It really begs the question, what does the greatest treasure in the world means and worth to you, would you sacrifice all Super Sentai that came before?
|
I would use it and just make it clear that the new universe leaves the Super Sentai intact along with the changes. Win/win. :D
|
I predict them using the Greatest Treasure in the Universe to allow the Super Sentai to keep protecting the Earth. You know, it gives them all their powers back and allows them to continue protecting the Earth while the Gokaiger continue their adventures. JMO

I actually didn't see that twist coming. Take note, M. Night Shymalan, because THIS is how a twist is done. Damn, waiting for next Sunday (and subsequently next Monday for the subs) is gonna be PAINFUL, especially since we get some sort of Zyuranger tribute. After all, the actor who played MammothRanger Goushi is returning, along with TyrannoRanger wearing DragonRanger's shield. And, Zyuranger was the first Super Sentai to be fully adapted into Power Rangers, so episode 50 better please the little Power Ranger fan in me.

Insarn has a really cool looking mech...
Ruined by the fact that her face is the torso of the robot. |

Also, there was something about the Gokai Changes in this episode that just made me chuckle. I can't decide what was funnier...Marvellous turnning into Vul Eagle, Ahim turning into Green Mask, or Joe turning into Blue Mask
|
I just hate that Gai is relegated to Megazord duty anytime they pay homage to a non-6th Ranger series.
STILL PISSED OFF IN THE OHRANGER TRIBUTE THEY PUT UP IN HIS STUPID TIMERANGER/ABARANGER/ZYURANGER PLAYTOY INSTEAD OF HAVING KINGRANGER WITH THEM. Ahem. |

Yeah, I can see them struggling with the effects of having the Zyngyack not exist...chances are they'll wish for the 34 Super Sentai to get their powers back and to take the empire down head on with all 35 teams.

But hell, I wouldn't mind. :D |
Even if we all speculate the ending it will still be great to see the internal struggle each member of the crew, I mean, we're talking about both Ahim and Don's home planet, Luka's sister, Joe's mentor Cid, and Marvelous as the master of the universe, after all this time calling them selves pirates and then making that eventual sacrifice for the greater good would be a great end for the series. Besides, I still wonder what Basco mean by AkaRed is using the treasure for earth.
|
I thought what Basco meant was that the Red Pirates risked life and limb to recover a treasure that they were never going to keep (Since AkaRed intended on returning the powers).
|
^ That's what I understood from it too.

Simply giving the keys back wouldn't necessarily be enough though. The Zangyack would probably just beat them again.
|
That would also be time consuming.
Tracking down 199 people to give their keys back. Gathering all the keys and using the treasure to return then all instantly would be much easier. |

i liked the battle at the end, 5 diffident transformations and and themes.

Huh, more Basco?
He had an awesome storyline and all, but I never found his interactions with Marvelous all that interesting... |

That was AMAZING! My favorite part was how they gave tribute to all 5 teams in the episode, now I can finally differentiate Changeman, Flashman and Bioman!

(If anyone is interested or wants to help Pm me). Anyway back to the review, i do like the intergration of 5 past senshi in 1 episode. i loved the greater powers of changeman and maskman, and the epic return of shinkengokaioh! isarn will be missed, i kinda liked her character.
