Got my DX VF-25F Renewal Ver. recently. GLORIOUS. So awesome. Can't wait to take pics of next to my VF-1A Hikaru. Macross F fans will understand.

I love the show, but have never properly got into the toys. I lurk around the TFW thread, and it seems like a pretty expensive rabbit hole to fall down.

nothing comparing to, let's say the 12" line, but yeah, it's pretty expensive hobby :(

Indeed. Thank goodness for HLJ sales and other places we shop at! The dollar/yen ratio is so balls that even some marked up places stateside aren't even that different price-wise from their Japanese retailer counterparts!

Been watching Macross 7. Milia's VF-1 shows up with different markings(black stripes, like Skull squadron). Pretty cool to see her kicking some Varuta ass.

I still need to finish watching the original macross, but i am lazy

Finished Sayonara no Tsubasa last night OMG it was awesome! Great to see everything culminating in the end. That kabuki dance in the Durandal was beast.

Well i'm gonna get back to watching the original macross, just been so busy with other things, and gonna watch Frontier after that

Save up man, you are about to travel a VERY expensive road where the next release(1/60 VF-17), will cost $300+(shipping included), to import..

yeah i know how expensive this stuff gets :D at least i don't got attatchment to any valkeries except a few of the classic ones

I plan to get a decent VF-1s Hikaru at some point (since its my favourite Valk design) but right now I only have the two DYRL transforming revoltechs.

What DOES suck is that my VF-22S Max broke. Ugh...

Man, this is why I'm not going with the 22S that HLJ has on sale, but my VF-19S is secured!!

The breakages may have been my fault, due to not remembering certain aspects. However the transformation is smooth but a PITA when it comes to getting the legs in just right for fighter.

From what I heard, the VF-19's smoke all previous Yamato efforts, including the SDF-1.

A question for you Macross experts:

I'm looking for a semi-affordable Skull Squadron VF-1S for my collection. Which release/series is considered the "best" for this sort of thing and where would be the best place to look???

Yeah... it's money I don't need to spend for sure. :)

Personally I love my Yamato 1/60 Version 2 TV version VF-1S. It's got the SDF-1 Focker in his blue flightsuit, no space flight suit from Do You Remember Love?, and the valk is pure white with anime accurate markings, and most importantly, no cracked shoulder hinge problems :D

The first anime I ever watched was Robotech. The second was Sailor Moon... Dont judge me! And both were thanks to USA. It came on at five in the morning on Saturday, and opened my eyes to a much larger world. Rick, and Minmei, and the SDF-1 Battle Fortress of Awesome. Forever one of the all-time classics.

Being that me and Sentai Tamashii are big Macross fans there's no way we could let this thread gather dust!

Anyone buying Bandai's 1/72 perfect transformation VF-1 plamo? I'm planning to get at least 1. I like the idea of a MG-esque VF-1 plamo...it's definitely outshines the vintage Imai kits and may be Bandai's successor to their 1/72 HCM(High Complete Model) from the mid 80's. At the time, that was Bandai's most realistic VF-1(that they themselves came up with).

This new one looks weird in some areas(S head looked way too big at Shizuouka Hobby Show), but the recent mags show a smaller noggin(or maybe it just looks that way since it's unpainted?).

Anyways, it's more surprising that Bandai is actually making this since they often choose to make Gundam plamo over anything else. If you're looking for realistic fighter models, there wasn't any other alternative aside from Hasegawa, and those can still be found. If you were hoping for a Master Grade-esque transforming VF-1, you've got your wish, next month.

So guys...I was watching some videos of the Macross 30 game, and what in the world was Grace O' Conner doing with the SMS? She was the main villain of Frontier.

Could be based on the movie version?

Ok...I've heard people tell me something involving Grace in the movie...what happens?

She's a much more sympathetic character. She seems to genuinely care about Sheryl, and is manipulated by the real big bad rather than being outright evil like she is in the series.

Ooooh...so THAT'S why people love her. So...which is cannon?

From what I've heard the movie is much more positive, since Micheal doesn't die. It also has the YF-29...whose DX toy has evaded me...the cheapest I've seen it was 24,000 on Mandarake...

No idea. Personally I prefer the series events to the movies.

Normally the TV series is canon, but Kawamori likes to integrate movie designs later on into the canon.

For example, DYRL? is said to be a movie within the Macross universe about the 1st Space War(Space War 1). The VF-1's used are later versions(later block numbers). Also, Exedol's appearance in Macross 7 mirrors his appearance in DYRL?, as an overgrown non-micronized Zentraedi who looks much more alien.

The Macross F movies left more of an overall emotional impact I believe, since the 2nd movie was more symbolic and tied up the love triangle(which was never resolved in the series).The movies are a retelling, not so much sequels.

Hm...Alright...I'll probably watch the movies at some point. Is it just me? Or did Hulu take down the dub of Macross? I was watching it a few months ago, and now I can't find it anywhere. That reminds me...I have GOT to get back to 7.

The movies are definitely worth watching for the spectacle of it all, even if you don't enjoy the story as much the series version.
