At what point (if any) did you lose interest in Power Rangers?
Pretty self explanitory.
For nearly 20 years, Power Rangers has been on television. At some point, we all stopped watching regularly when it came on the air (though many of us have since re-picked it up again). I watched regularly from MMPR Season 1 through In Space. Lost Galaxy I began to lose interest, even more so in Lightspeed Rescue, though by Time Force I had lost all interest ... which sucked, because Time Force was awesome in retrospect. Didn't really catch Wild Force or Ninja Storm, but picked it up again when Dino Thunder came out (zomg Tommy). How about you? |
I was super huge into it when I was little, but I started loosing interest around the time when Time Force ended.
I was 13 then, so I guess I kinda grew out of it. |
I began to lose interest somewhere around Mystic Force, but I stopped actively watching around Jungle Fury.
|
Honestly, I lost interest a few episodes into Ninja Storm. I know I harp on it alot. I just didn't enjoy any aspect of that season. So much I didn't rejoin PR untill I saw Tommy was returning for Dino-Thunder. That was what saved it for me, and Mystic Force cemented it. Untill Operation Overdrive, where I lost interest again. There was just to much going on. No real single villian, just a bunch of random. And then those mecha-cats after The Mercury Ranger.. And RPM was the same. But that wasn't RPM's fault. That was Disney's for showing it at 5am on a Saturday morning, that was what made me miss alot of episodes. But like with Mystic Force before Samurai brought me back into it.
|
And if anyone knows somewhere safe I can watch RPM, I'd be more than happy to give it a chance.

I've only watched Once A Ranger :lol I really want to give it another chance, but I didn't enjoy the acting (And it seems it wasn't really all that good of a series either...) |
After the season 6 finale it was pretty hard to maintain interest but Lo and Behold Lost Galaxy was up to the task. Then Lightspeed came along...and it just LOST me half way through the first episode.
We've spent billions on Ranger tech to fight these demons, we clearly know WHERE thier entombed since we knew within hours they'd been released and how....but we couldn't afford a padlock. It wasn't until halfway through Ninja storm I got back in through SPD, the series has never recaptured me since. |

I stopped watching once Turbo started. I didn't pick it up again until the middle of Lost Galaxy. Then I stopped after Wild Force because my ABC affiliate didn't carry Ninja Storm. From then on its been spotty but I generally have followed the show again since Dino Thunder.
|
I lost it when mystic force started. but after that i was back, stuck it out though overdrive too. (who else can say that!)
|
First loss of interest: start of Turbo. Went into the show high off of Zeo, but dear lord did the early Turbo issues sap any and all goodwill Zeo had created.
First return of interest: In Space. Awesome plot, great Zords, and hot girls in tight costumes. Totally worked on this teenage boy. Second loss of interest: end of Lost Galaxy. The show never matched up to In Space for me and when it ended I gave up on the show. Second return of interest: Dino Thunder. So yeah, Tommy was back... not much more to say. Third loss of interest: five episodes into Samurai. Ugh. Just ugh. |
I lost interest right about the third season of Power Rangers. Shamefully, this was due to societal pressure, it was deemed that I was becoming too old for Power Rangers, and I was becoming a bit embarrassed at spending so much of my parents' money on the DX Megazords. I had every one up until the Tigerzord, and that was when my parents put a stop to it. (It was a shame, as the Ninja and Zeo Zords were really awesome stuff.)
Because of this embarrassment, I considered Power Rangers taboo for many years, though I did catch the Turbo movie and quietly sneaked to watch bits of Zeo and Turbo. That was until I heard about RPM. Here was a series that was deemed "mature" and the "Dark Knight of Power Rangers". Finally willing to break my taboo, I decided to give it a try and loved it. I noticed that RPM did retain campy aspects of Power Rangers, but by this time I could scarcely give a heck. That was when my taboos broke down and I declared myself a fan for good, giving past seasons a chance too. |
Well I watched it from Lost Galaxy to close to the End of Mystic Force. When the air time and everything changed I never really watched it. For the toys, I got up to the first wave of MMPR. I got Mega Gold recently but with the guality of the toys I'm just not really in to it. If we get Gokaiger I will be all over it but for now im not really in to Samari.

i lost interest as i grew out of it, around spd i think. I caught episodes here and there of subsequent shows but it was more for nostalgia than anything else. I was watching mystic force on netflix with my nephew (he's four) and although he liked it it was far too corny for me. If the acting was better and the themes more adult oriented maybe I'd watch, but I think ill just stick with Japanese kamen rider. Its still a bit schlocky but I prefer the darker storylines of the bug men :)

i love spd series and i stop watch pr - diseny 's mmpr reboot
|
I lost interest mid way through Turbo but kept watching when the 2nd half got better (not saying much). Then In Space was awesome and gave me the closure I had been wanting. After that, I watched some of Lost Galaxy, but offical quit watching the episode Magna Defender died. Magna Defender was awesome and I didn't really like anyone else in Lost Galaxy so I just quit watching. It's worth noting I was in High School by then and didn't want to admit I still enjoyed PR.
I somehow saw most of the first episodes since then and happened upon the first airing of Forever Red. I came back during SPD's run in college, but not because of SPD. I saw that Disney had a "Power Playback" style block and just had it on from time to time while getting ready for class. Then one day they showed a newer series with a familiar...HOLY CRAP! It's Tommy roundhouse kicking a dinosaur. I watched both Dino Thunder and SPD (both quite good) then quit again with Mytic Force. Didn't like the first couple of episodes and I can't stand the broomsticks to this day. Never have and never will have any desire to watch Operation Overdrive outside Once a Ranger. Jungle Fury however looked fun even if the lack of belts annoyed me. Glad I watched that season. One of my favorites. I didn't want to watch RPM at first, but I knew it was most likely the last season. Glad I did because it's way better than it has any right to be. Seriously, can we have Dr. K and Billy in the same room for the 20th anniversary? Please? Since then, Disney's attempt to ruin MMPR and Saban's mind numbing copy & paste called Samurai has since me right into Super Sentai country. I hope Power Rangers Ultra Mega Fire Pirate Dino Storm Force will be worth picking up. |
As a child - Lost Galaxy. The massive switchover in Turbo had already irked me, but once the Zordon continuity had ended I just wasn't interested anymore. Until Samurai started the only one I watched since was Dino Thunder.
Since then I've gone back and watched everything (bar Operation Overdrive), but funnily enough I still hate Lost Galaxy :lol |
I lost interest after the first movie, didn't pick it up again till SPD, but then Mystic Force lost me again, got it back with RPM, then went back full time to Sentai.
|
Lost intrest around half way through Mystic Force, came back when they announced the mmpr reboot, saw the "pow" "zap" and "bangs" pop up on screen then quit again until Power rangers samurai was announced.watched shinkenger and gokaiger too.Couldn't find any of the older sentai series online,so just those 2 so far.

I was a freshman in college when MMPR first aired and was already a fan of Japanese monsters (Godzilla, Ultraman etc). Got up early to watch the first episode and I fell in love with the show. My roommate and I would literally spend Saturday nights getting food and watching episodes of Power Rangers we had recorded during the week. Yeah, we were pretty cool dudes.
We both lost interest during/by the end of season 2. Jason, Zack, and Trini being replaced was a factor I think. I can't really remember exactly why our infatuation ended but it did. When the Power Rangers appeared on netflix, my interest was rekindled. I've re-watched several MMPR episodes, and all of Samurai (which despite the negativity on these boards I really enjoyed). Then I found this site and it led me to fan subs of the original Sentai shows and now I'm totally hooked again. |
The first movie was the last thing I ever watched. I saw it in the theaters opening weekend. After that I just stopped watching it for whatever reason. Probably because my parents thought I was too old for it. I only managed to get one DX Megazord out of them :lol
|
Turbo. I couldn't even force myself to like the Megazord. Until 2009's RPM, I hadn't given PR a second thought, really.

basically for me, wild force was the end of my interest in power rangers primarily because i could not get up really early to watch it. like most people i barely viewed ninja storm.. came back in full force with dino thunder-mystic force... gave up 6 episodes through oo, and watched all of junglefury and rpm
|
I don't know how old some of you are, but I was smack dab in the Power Rangers age group when it first came on the air. I was like 6 or so when MMPR premiered, and watched all the way through Space. (I dropped off for a couple episodes during Turbo, but not necessarily because I remembered it being BAD, it was just so different it was off putting for me).
The In Space finale blew my young mind and when that series ended I was so satisfied that POWER RANGERS WAS OVER! Then wtf??? Power Rangers Lost Galaxy? What the hell is this? Who are these new people? Why are there still bad guys? I thought the z-wave destroyed all the evil in the universe? This is a cheap cash-in!! What a load of crap!! I watched the premiere (which I think was the first two episodes back to back) and just completely stopped and swore off Power Rangers. Then, come college time, maybe around 2005 or so I discovered Sentai and it's connection to Power Rangers. My first Sentai was Go-Onger so I checked out Jungle Furries mostly as a comparison. I haven't really enjoyed Power Rangers since at all. It's been really hard to get excited for the show at all. |
I dropped out of it around Turbo but I still watched a little bit here and there up until Time Force
I picked it back up when RPM was on the air and that led to me watching Decade which then led me to finding out about Shinkenger and Super Sentai as a whole. havnt looked back since either, Ive tried to watch Samurai but its just so bad and all I see in it is Shinkenger and horrible acting |
I started to lose interest right after amy jo johnson left and the series changed the suits to zeo. I still watched the show but not as religiously as before. I remember being excited for the Turbo movie cuz I knew jason and kim were returning but once the series started and the big cast change happened I stopped watching completely.
Last year or so I found subs of dairanger and watched those and that got my interest in sentai. I heard good things about shinkenger so I watched that since the series was complete and easy to find. I then started watching other sentai and that got my interest in pr again to see what they were doing with the material so I watched some of newer pr stuff on netflix. |
For me I kind of grew out of it when I discovered girls. And for me, no one could beat the original cast - Tommy, Jason, Zack...
|
Well for me not so much the dropped out of it factor.
I had caught up all episodes up to Ninja Steel on DVD , all of Beast Morphers and Series I of Dino Fury on Netflix. So in my case more of a matter of finished most of what Power Rangers had released. Dino Fury had gone on break and Series II is about to drop the last 11. Having caught up I'm watching Zyu - Don Bros. I'll deal with 1975 - Jet Man later. It may be a hold till they fill in Cosmic Fury for completist sake if no other reason. I don't want to miss any episodes. Possible break till 2024. |
Good god this is an old thread. It's past its 10th anniversary
|
If anything you've gotta have some kind of respect to Wentwood's dedication to this whole thing.

At this point I think some mod should just make him his own subforum to post the same exact things over and over again to his heart's content
|
At least he brought up the pre-existing thread instead of making a new one.
Anyways....I think I started watching Power Rangers as a kid around season 2? But I might have watched from the beginning. I stopped watching at Lost Galaxy. When I first watched Zyuranger around 2014, it was a revelation. It loved it, and it was super nostalgic revisiting that while also discovering something new. Nowadays, however, I've grown accustomed to Sentai, so Power Rangers is the "new" and exciting one. It makes me want to go back and revisit the original seasons. |
I tried watching Power Rangers (when it initially aired in early 90’s) with my kids, thought it would be Super Sentai, was wrong, and THEY thought it was lame AF- they said it was, and I agreed,it sounded dialogue-wise like “Saved By The Bell ” or “Full House” (insert throw up emoji HERE) which was cornier than F*ck in itself.
|
I gave up Power Rangers since Jungle Fury, Samurai & Megaforce.
I feel it's not the same as I remember it in the past now. Cheesy lines and acting too. |

To answer the topic, I only recall taking a break from PR twice. First when Operation Overdrive started airing, as I thought it was lame compared to Mystic Force. I've softened on it a little after I went back to watch it as an adult though, I don't think it deserves as much hate as people give it. Second when Dino Charge started airing. Sadly, 2013 to early 2015 was kind of a Sentai drought for me, due to my disappointment with Kyoryuger and especially ToQGer. So Dino Charge came at a bad time, as I was all out of generosity to give anything resembling either of those two a chance. Now, having had some time to cool off and actually enjoying Kyoryuger Brave and Ryusoulger, I feel like I should give Dino Charge a fair chance based on its own merits, which I intend to do at some point in the future. |
