How is Fourze holding up?
We're almost at the half way point of Fourze, and i figured I should ask how is it holding up for you guys?
Myself, I find I'm still enjoying it. Though, I am getting rather tired of Gentaro's and Yuki's one note personalities. |
The obvious Ryuu/Meteor thing is starting to get to me.
It doesn't matter how tongue-in-cheek they start to make it, I still don't enjoy how apparent genius Kengo can't realize the obvious... That aside, I still enjoy it. |
It's okay. The plot doesn't seem to be rushing anywhere in a hurry and it feels like a lot of the characters have been demoted to background appearances. I'm still enjoying it, but my general enthusiasm for the show has definitely waned.
|
It's just ok for me. It doesn't do anything wrong I can think of, but it doesn't do anything spectacular for me. I think it would help if I knew more about what the Zodiarts end game is.
|
Oh man... I dunno how long most of you have been around, but compared to other KR shows, I think the pacing for Fourze has been fantastic. I've practically seen most Heisei era shows on a weekly basis and Fourze has been holding my attention the best.
OOO I've just taken breaks to watch episodes in chunks cause I've been so bored with it. Even W had moments where it was somewhat slow... it wasn't until the epic end that knocked the series out of the park. I'm genuinely entertained with Fourze, and I hope they keep doing what they're doing. |
Im still really enjoying it, so much so that i haven't watched the past 7 episodes of gokaiger, which reaching its conclusion should be far more epic, yet holds no interest for me at the moment.
It's got some good pacing and i like that there's enough big bads in place yet there is the threat of more appearing constantly looming. I like that the rest of the club actively take part in stuff, sure their development is limited but they're there for specific reasons and they seem to be getting closer and closer, so it's all good in my book. I dug the twist early on with Scorpio and the little extra information like how the Foodroids are designed by Yuki sits really well with me=) Only thing i hope for is for the whole 'Meteor mystery' to wrap up soon and the choice of who got to become the latest Horoscope. Im also hoping for more on Tachiban as he's surrounded in mystery at the moment. Either way i'm enjoying it far more then OOO and more so then i was W at this stage in the game. I just hope they don't drop the ball with the ending =) |
I started Fourze before I watched OOO, and honestly... that was probably the biggest mistake I have ever made. Just because of the overall Tone and story OOO had.
Currently, Fourze feels too comedic (Even though it is supposed to be a light hearted show) and thus leaves every charecter feeling very two diemensional, and leaves you -knowing- every little twist and turn it tries to throw at you. Regardless, I'm a bit bored with it... and seeing those secondary forms... I am very dissapoint. |
just caught up on episodes 23 and 24 yesterday since i have been really busy with school and stuff, its really getting interesting with the horoscopes, although i feel like eventually they will just end up like the greeds from ooos. the switches are a great gimmick however, and even if i never own the belt, i want a switch to mess with when im bored
I Do agree with doctor maki, as a guy who loved den-o, it does feel a tad bit comedic, and the formula for the episodes is kinda dead at this point, unless it turns around and pulls a shinkenger ( Strong Start, Boring Middle, Amazing Finale) it will be in my top 10 kamen rider instead of top 5 shows |

Fourze has managed to keep my attention far better than other series. Hell, I dropped Double (What I'm pretty sure the majority of this forum would rank as number 1) around episode 10 just because I got tired of Shotaro and Akiko's whining towards each other and Philip's "Idiot genius" shtick. So far, only OOO and Fourze hasn't had a break where I stopped watching it out of boredom or disinterest. |
I lost interest awhile ago. Trying to decide if I want to pick it back up and finish it. Fourze had such a strong start but the middle is KILLING me.
|
First one I've watched (for the most part) weekly since the start with my sisters.
It keeps me entertained every week yeah, though I'm honestly kinda just dying for Ryusei to tell the club he's Meteor. That's starting to annoy me. Him and Gentaro need to become buddies ASAP. |

I like that Ryusei is going to SOME lengths to have a secret identity, because Gentaro hasen't exactly been discrete...but they're really stretching what he can get away with at this point now. |
Yeah, I think the only thing holding back Fourze at the moment (at least for me anyway) is Meteor's hidden identity. Even for Fourze its being stretched to ridiculous levels - I want the inevitable Fourze/Meteor handshake now :lol
Other than that, its really going strong at the moment - the Horoscopes have become far more prominent, and Cancer is becoming a really interesting character. |

But yes, Cancer had a good introduction, and that costume design for him is awesome. Of ANY of the Horoscopes seen so far that's the only design I've really cared for. |
Cancer's design is freaking awesome ^^

Though I'm gonna throw it out there and guess most of them will initially suspect that JK is Meteor, as he also always runs away. |

You not even diggin Elec-Form? I think the forms and switches are the only thing this show's got. Quote:
Kisaragi: "Oh JK you should of told us...after all *weird fist move he does* we're friends" |
Just watched episodes 17-24 and the show is still enjoyable, but I still think it's missing something. It's like it's treading water right now and nothing more. I'm really getting tired of all these "we won't call them 2-parters but they are" episodes. The storytelling is very unique and I'm enjoying the dynamics being created between some of the characters (Ryu and Tomo for example).
About to watch 25 to be caught up and I'll have more thoughts/opinions. |

I do believe the original Kamen Rider did the always-2-parters thing first. Eitherway, I'm not a fan of it. I'd much rather have a continuous or episodic story than Kamen Rider's stop and start format. One of the reasons I have a hard time finishing any of the shows.
PS Dropped Fourze around episode 6. Might pick it back up when it's done so I can get rid of the stop and start pacing. |
Now that I've caught up, I have to say the shining moment of this entire series is Ryu/Meteor. He adds the seriousness that Gentarou/Fourze lacks. He also seems to be more badass every episode we see. I'm hoping when he finally does reveal who he is, it's one of those moments where the entire group is watching Fourze get his ass kicked and he finally realizes he's part of the group, that what Gen is doing is the right thing, and henshin in front of the group to save Gen.
|
Huh. I really feel like adding seriousness to Fourze will be it's downfall. It's been straight comedic sans the Ryu/Meteor bits. If it turns serious out of nowhere I think it'll be like Den-O and Kai...

Man I need to get up to Meteor, Theres always trouble accepting a new sentai/Rider right after a REALLY good one ends, but I had a lot of trouble after W ended.... so I'm just now powering through Fourze to get caught up. (Ep. 13...tomoko in a cheerleader outfit.....) but I'm liking what I'm seeing a lot. of course now they've started showing the movie previews in the opening and seeing W again doesn't help.
|
I have to keep reminding myself "It is almost over... thank god"...
|
Its so-so, I personally think OOO was so much better.

Fourze is doing an incredible job of making you care about non-Rider characters. I just hope that it sets up something epic, like others have suggested, where some of the KR club members (the nerdy guy and the hyperactive chick) end up being Zodiarts, and really throw Gen for a loop on what to do/how to handle them.

We all remember the bikini episode fondly :lol

It was always "Which medal is Eiji going to randomly drop today? =\" Every time I saw it. The Greeed were pitiful villains. Cazali was the only one to ever do anything beyond the "Send monster, watch it die, onore", Mezulu and Gamel didn't do much but stand there and react to Cazali and Maki, and Uva looked cool, but was rarely relevant. Just seeing the Horoscopes take enough interest in their monsters to actively train and protect them makes them far more interesting to me than the Greeed, though I will admit that the Greeed did have more personality, thus their group scenes were interesting to watch. |
Starting to find MIu's "Oops" pissing me off more and more...
|
They're just no longer appropriately placed and seem forced. So they're no longer cute.
At least at first they made sense when she actually made a mistake. Now it's any form of embarassment, and it's just too much. But gosh darn it if she didn't still sound cute in saying it... |

My girlfriend (who has NEVER seen Fourze, let alone any Tokusatsu except Power Rangers as a kid) says "Oops" all the time ... gotta admit, love it ;)
