Super Samurai episode 01 - "Super Samurai" episode discussion
Or episode 24 if you'd prefer, I'm not really sure how to number this season :lol
Anyway, I won't be watching until later, but discuss away! |
If anyone knows when this will be re-aired, please post it. I cannot find any re-airing information on the Nickelodeon PRS website. Thanks!
|
I'm watching it as I type this :lol
Anyway, I don't know if it's if the actors are doing better than before or if I'm just not as judging them as harshly. |
Super Samurai was great. No spoilers but the scenes are way better that last year and there's a lot more original fight and regular footage.

I thought this episode was certainly better than most of the others. I liked the unmorphed fight scenes and I really hope they show more of this. |
Its better than some past episodes IMHO.
|
I loved everything (Aside from Jayden's haircut, honey you're still making me sad. Stop it.). And I hope this isn't a real spoiler: But I loved the Claw Zord finally combined with the Samurai Mega, and that they finally used the OctoZord Cannon thing. I love that. All in All it was a really great episode!

^On the topic of haircuts, I do like Emily's new one, she looks more attractive with it.
There wasn't really anything Super about this episode, it just feels like another episode of Samurai. The Bulk & Spike bits were good, but I was hoping we'd start to see them interact with the rest of the cast. Maybe later in the season. Also, I REALLY don't like the American suit for Octoroo, the mouth just feels so off. |
one question. Has the acting improved?

Good to hear about the acting improving. I still hate jaden's new hair cut.
Stupid question for the people who watch stuff online. Is there a link or a download for this episode yet? Ive been trying to find one all day. |

Shinken Red, you can watch it here: http://www.nick.com/videos/clip/powe...l-episode.html
I thought it was a decent episode. And Jayden's haircut isn't any worse than that awful Justin Bieber cut he was sporting last season. |
First off big thanks to xredmenacex for the link. I searched the Nick site earlier and couldn't find it so much obliged.
As far as the episode goes, I enjoyed it. I liked the stepped up threat level introduced, and Octaroo has really grown on me as a breakout bad guy. I thought the acting was pretty good for the most part and the show overall was good. Bulk and Spike scenes were good too. Very classic Bulk and Skull sort of stuff. The unmorphed fight made me think of MMPR season 2, which is a good thing. Finally, Emily in jorts == :D for ljacone. Brought back memories of Trini. Now if Mia could wear a flower print sundress with pink tights on underneath it we'd be in business. |
Just watched the episode and yup, there's definitely been an improvement.
A nice combination of new footage and civilian fights, a "reasonably" original plot and decent Bulk/Spike moments. The acting seems to have improved all around too, the only thing that bugged me was how obvious the change between American and Japanese footage was because of the Gold Ranger's costume. It's a little early to tell whether Samurai has truly changed for the better, but this episode shows some real promise. |
i Thought they really stepped things up a notch as well. The transition between american and japanese footage was a bit obvious when they did it and i haven't watched Shinkenger, but it's to be expected and i paid no mind. I enjoyed it and my son enjoyed it. It was pretty action packed episode. Bulk and Spike are always great to watch. I keep wondering if we may get to see Decker again. I really liked his character.

At 4:56 it thought jayden said "will track down those cracks and F%@k them up too." lol. Nice one alex. Also how did the black box change shape from last season? I will say, the morph block was a very cool idea. Civy spin swords are also very cool. And up morphed fight sceens return FTW! At 14 min mark il like how the super mutant fired antonio's finsher back at them. Nice touch. Ok super samurai mode is AWSOME! and the fire reflecting off jaydens visor after his BA moment just sealed the deal :) Super megamode is ok. I also like the comand antonio gives when he says "clawzord enlarge", its another nice touch.
Oh, and the claw armor battlezord is the super samurai mech. Makes sense. Finaly and real explantion for the finshers. its only been what almost 20 years. That last shot with bulk and spike in the backround was very well done, even if they used a cheesy line. I thought i was quite good. Much better than the early half of s1. Looking good. |
Just watched it, and overall, i enjoyed it, the acting has gotten a lot better, but still has ways to go to get better (Kevin to me is the worst right now). Jayden is fine, i have no problems with him and the others are decent.
So far this is looking promising, i'm probably gonna go back and catch up and continue to watch, but i like what i see |

But over all, I'm itching to get the Inromaru now. Power Rangers is making more of a big deal about it compared to Shinkenger lol! |
My bad about that post. did know this one existed.

So I finally caught it. For those of you looking for it, here's Nick's official release on their website: http://www.nick.com/videos/clip/powe...l-episode.html
It was pretty fun, (Super) Samurai has certainly come a long way from the first episode, "The Team Unites". For starters, the usually strong production values have been turned up a notch, with great scenes featuring Sanzu River water and suit-less fights. The action was intense and really entertaining, with a whole host of amazing new powers for the Rangers to use. The music really helped to keep the atmosphere, and I dare say this is one of the better scored Power Rangers series. The dialogue and acting are still average, but definitely an improvement over last season's and I can only see them getting better. Also it seems Bulk and Spike's scenes have taken a tip from MMPR season 2 and In Space and I have a good feeling we'll be seeing much better scenes with them. At last, they're more connected to the Rangers. Overall, the best thing I can say is that this episode did not bore me one bit; I was entertained throughout. Samurai has really come into its own, and I will certainly be keeping up with it. |
