Legacy Power Morpher New Info
 

The Official Power Morphicon Convention Facebook page has provided fans with a new look at the forthcoming Legacy Power Morpher! Although this image is of an unpainted prototype, the post also featured more info about this highly anticipated item.

The morpher will include a die-cast metal front cover and grip handle, as well as the original five power coins. According the them, "it will be heavy!" The estimated price for the morpher is $50 (subject to change) and will be released around January-February 2013.

As a closing note, Power Morphicon also had this to say;

2 questions:

1) Is this being made by a third party for a convention or this the Bandai version?

2) Will it have options for Zyuranger stickers for us Sentai snobs?

It's an official BOA product and no it won't include Sentai related stickers or anything like that. It's a US product primarily aimed at US fans of the original Power Rangers. So including Sentai related things wouldn't amke too much sense for them.

I dunno. The concept art from Morphicon had the Zyuranger details on the back of the morpher...

Please tell me this is a 100% mass market product, though. I want to be able to walk into a toys R Us or Walmart and see these.

I heard a rumor that bandai related 20th anniversary ranger items will be a toys r us exclusive. Not sure if anybody here can confirm this but the morpher is one of those exclusives

Where did you hear that? That is news to me.

I thought I read that on rangerboard somewhere. No idea if its fact or not.

So far I want it. Let's see how the finished product looks when it has all the missing stickers. because I'm hoping it has an option. Where you can either put on Power Rangers, or Zyuranger.

Here are some more details of the Morpher from the Tsuyoshi Nonaka Design and Development panel from Morphicon 2012

The 5 Power Coins will be made of diecast metal, and the Morpher will be able to recognize each coin for a different sound. Nonaka also said that the Morpher will have the Wrist Communicator SFX.

I never had a functioning morpher as a little kid (only had a chunk of plastic that could be put on a belt, with like 1 Power Coin) I know what to save up for now ^_^

this makes the decision to modify my vintage MMPR morpher that i got for a $1 at a flea market a couple years ago into a zyuranger dino buckler even more easy :p

It's definitely a nice piece. Though I can't honestly say that I'll actually buy it. I'm more interested in the "diecast" Megazord they've got coming out. I wonder if this will be available at mass retail, or if it'll be a TRU/online only sort of thing. If it's available at mass retail, I imagine it could eventually go on clearance, depending on availability, and the amount of nostalgic PR fans in my area, so I might wait for that possibility to get it...

I really don't see clearance for the morphers to be quite honest

If it's a TRU exclusive thing then you can bet your ass it will NEVER go on clearance. Just like the Star Trek movie, ROTF Deluxe, and Green Lantern Movie figures which still clog the shelves of my local one. TRU almost never clearances out good things :(

Clearance? A $50 price point seems reasonable to me to start with o.o

It's definitely a cool piece, but I honestly don't see it as worth fifty bucks. Again, it's cool, but not something my collection needs. I'm trying to cut back on my overall collecting as it is. With the other stuff I'm collecting, I might honestly not even get any Power Rangers stuff.

I'll get flamed for saying this, but honestly, the most I would actually pay for something like this, would be about twenty-five bucks. The die-cast used for this thing can't cost THAT much...

I would say $50 isn't really expensive for what that's offering you. The cheapest, most featureless, fully plastic morphers from Bandai of Japan already cost that much. It's definitely far more worth it than the lightweight stuff Bandai of America is charging upwards of $12 these days.

Still, don't worry about getting flamed. That's how an ideal economy would work, so the rest of us can get it if we can :D.

I'd say there are possibly certain reasons for that.

It would be nice if these were mass market releases , but I'm inclined to think the exclusive rumor I read may be on the money. Given how little space target and wal-mart dedicate in their tiny action figure isle to Power Rangers. The little room they have will be all Megaforce stuff. Just a thought...

Is it 2013 yet? Because I want that morpher so bad.

I kind of hope it comes with Zyuranger alternative stickers.
