This is a thread i think will be a little fun, maybe?
rules of this thread. you can any top list as long as it is Sentai themes. you need to give reasion why each one is one said list, and do not start fourm wars over lists!

Top 5 Sentai based on over all mecha.
5) Fiveman: I picked this one for two reasions, it is the last of the Showa style mecha's. Second the only showa base mech that looks good. also the super fiverobo is one the best sixth plus main mecha combo.
4) Go-onger: 12 part animal/vehinle mecha with googly eyes, what else needs to be said?
3) Megaranger: there is no mecha i dont like here and the supermega galaxsy is the best upgrat to main mecha ever.
2) GoGO V every mecha looks great, gaint flying trains and the best non animal mecha in sentai sofar.
1) Gaoranger the best animal mech, limbswaping and the only sentai to have lots of mechs that dont forma cluster f'er

Top 5 Sentai villains (of the series I've seen)

5) Meemy - I loved all the villains in Magiranger, but I picked Meemy because he had the most personality.
4) Agent Abrella - What I liked most about him was he didn't have any grand ideas of conquest or anything, he was just an arms dealer than had the police get in his way one too many times.
3) Basco - A great foil to the Gokaiger, and a villain that put the Zangyack to shame
2) Brajira - Great design, and the build up to him being the main villain was the best thing about Goseiger.
1) Enter - The main reason I kept watching Go-Busters through the early episodes. The guy is just awesome.

I can't think up my own list, so I'm going to piggy back on the first list.
5. Zyuranger. Daizyujin Not just because it was my first, either. Daizyujin is cohesive, sleek (As in it comes together nicely, with little kibble everywhere), and it's just a beauty.
4. Magiranger. Magiking. Freaking awesome. Creative combination and design with a glorious end result. One of the few mecha I actually bought.
3. Kakuranger. Kakure Daishogun. It's small, it's sleek, and it fits the ninja theme A LOT better than Muteki Shogun.
2. Go-Onger. Engine-Oh G3-5, G12. It's Clusterfuck-Oh at it's finest. I'm not sure why I'm so drawn to it, actually. But it looks a hell of a lot better than whatever Shinken and Gobus tried and failed to do.
1. Gaoranger. Gaoking. Probably the best use of Animal mechs. I like these in particular because they're not animals mixed with some sort of vehicle like so many other sentai do, but just animals. The combination looks great, and it's just awesome.

I was gonna piggy back off of this one, too, but it would've just boiled down to Basco and Rio.

I toyed with the idea of including Rio, but felt he was
a) not evil enough for me to class him as a villain
b) too awesome for the list anyway

Eh. The series treated Rio as the villain until He removed the Genki from inside him and turned against Long, which was at the tail end of the series.

B is very true, though.

Very true, but when I was writing the list I was thinking of villains that were bad guys until the very end. The fact Rio did turn and has come back from the dead twice to help out the heroes has kind of moved him into his own little category in my eyes.

Ahh. Alright. That makes sense.

My Top 5 Sentai Themes

5. Ninja Sentai Kakuranger
Unlike most Sentai songs that aim for loud and rocking, Kakuranger goes for small and jazzing. With string, wind and percussion instruments that I can't recognize, you won't know what rocked you. The perfect fit for the perfect ninjas.

4. Tokumei Sentai Gobuster - Buster Ready Go
Fast paced and absolutely rocking, Gobuster sets up for the backlash of Gokaiger with no sign of slowing down. An absolute perfect blend of rock and classical music that gets you hipped for one hell of a ride... or disappointment, take your pick. Whether you love it or hate, Gobusters will have you ready to morph into action.

3. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger
Being the 35th anniversary of Super Sentai, it's clear that Toei went all out for Gokaiger and that includes the theme song. Like most typical Sentai themes it builds up the heroes as strong and united team, however the greatness this time comes from the fact that it's not just building up the Gokaigers, but 34 teams that came before them. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, the one song that's acceptable to pirate.

2. Denji Sentai Megaranger
After the bomb that was Power Rangers Turbo, Saban needed to pull their head out of the asses and give the fans something that would soar higher then anything that they had produced before. What spawned was Power Rangers in Space the end of the Zordon era and what many consider as the best season of Power Rangers ever. Fortunately for Saban Toei started production of the perfect thing to use for that season, Denji Sentai Megaranger. Yeah I know, Megaranger and In Space were completely different in terms of themes, story and characters but damn it both of them were awesome and it was the perfect lead in. Anyway, Megaranger's theme music feels a little more suited to the theme of in Space which is conclusion but you know what? That's what makes it so good, it marks the end of an era as well as a new beginning. Throw in an awesome singer and an insanely epic electronic mix and you have a truly epic theme song for an epic Sentai Series.

1. Mirai Sentai Timeranger
Starting out weary and twisted, Timeranger quickly ramps out into an absolutely epic and heart wrenching song and series. This would be a good time to point out that Timeranger is my all time favorite Sentai series and it's theme song is probably one of the only ones to actually get me hyped to watch the show... which makes me wish I had as much to say about it as I did for Megaranger. Nevertheless, Timeranger theme is truly amazing and will hopefully go over time and space and will always be remember as the masterpiece that it is. Also Time Force is good to. In fact if this were a Power Rangers thread Time Force would be all over the place

Now that you know my top themes, what are some of yours?

I don't have very much time to watch Toku. If it were up to me i would be watching Gekiranger on the couch with my wife over 98% of the garbage on TV. But the wife is as interested in these shows as i am Say yes to the dress or Ghost Hunters. So the following list is

Top 5 Sentai Shows i will watch when i have time!

1. Goseiger - I am on Epic 5 now. I am easy to please , so i am enjoying it. Still have no idea who my favorite is. And i own a Gosei Knight action figure and that was based on me thinking he was cool looking. Top that with the upcoming Megaforce excitement , it put this on Top of my priority list.

2. Gekiranger - Some thoughts

I've watched 6 episodes so far. Jan is already my 2nd favorite Red.

I have no idea what they are talking about half the time

Gekitouja may be my favorite main mech next to the Daizyujin

I dunno why the show runners decided to name 2 of the main characters Jan & Ran ?? kinda odd

Retsu saying i made it is a weird catch phrase

Looking forward to Geki Violet , only because purple is my favorite color

3. Jetman - actually about half way through. I wish i could just pick out all the stories central to character development and plot. The love triangle episodes make it incredibly interesting. Not so high on the meaningless monster of the week episodes.

4. Go-Onger - Ended up really liking the guy that plays Go-On Red from Karate Robo Zabogar. So that makes me want to give this a go. I also am a huge R.P.M. fan and the difference in Sentai / Ranger transition is astounding! It's like comparing Cereal to mac and cheese. Yes , it's food , yes it's in a bowl , yes you use milk to make it. But it has nothing in common. At ALL!

5. Zyuranger - I have the 6 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on my body for the rest of my life , maybe i should investigate their origins?

At first I thought this was a thread about me. My ego has been shattered... But Onward!

Series) Tensou Sentai Goseiger - You're all shocked, I know. But this is by far my favorite series. The Machines, the Henshin, the Sentai, I love everything about this series. Especailly Brajira. By far one of the joys of this series, along with the badassery of Gosei Knight. And the toys! So much playability. I still don't understand why everyone's against this show but I would definately call it a must-have.

Sentai Red) Marvelous. I love Alata, he's my boy. But.. for sheer epic you need a little Marvelous in your life. The attitude, the outfit he wears out of costume, his all non-chalant I'm just better than you at everything style. Love everything about him.

Sentai Blue) Joe. Pure and Simple it's Joe. For as aloof as Marvelous is that's how dead-serious Joe is. The best episodes of Gokaiger were with him prominant, and I loved the whole Joe and Barizorg dynamic.

Sentai Pink) Ahim. Eri is great, but Ahim is perfect. 'Nuff said.

Sentai Green) Doc. Goofiness never looked so good. But dammit he tried so hard, didn't he?

Sentai Yellow) Moune. It was close between her and Luka, but Moune just wins out. I love her and Agri going at it, but also their loving sibling relationship.

Sentai Black) Agri. Love the hair, love his Machine, and I love the faces he makes.

Sentai Other) Gosei Knight. Complete Bad Ass. Is what he is. From the first moment he stepped on scree and started blasting everything he saw, untill he took Gokai's Parrot and made himself even more badass.

Sentai Sixth) Gai. Yes, his flamboyance can grate your nerves. But he is the forever fanboy. And you have to love that. That and his Gokai Machine. I'd buy that before Gokai-Oh.

Machine/Mech) Gosei Great. Because it is, in fact, great. The playabilty by putting every head anywhere, the way it connects with other Machines. There's nothing wrong with this.

Least Favorite Machine) Gokai-Oh. The Galleon is awesome... but it's the other four. A fighter plane, a race car, a semitruck, and a submarine. Yea, because when I think Pirates I think racing cars. It'd have been better if the Galleon alone became the mech. Like the Megaship in Megaranger.

Least Favorite Series) Akibaranger. This... this can go away now.

Best Opening) Tensou Sentai Goseiger. Tensou!

Favorite Villian) It's a tie. Brajira and Basco. Basco for his pure epic awesomeness in everything he does, and the smartass smirk he has while doing it. And Brajira. In the hopes, one day, he'll become the DaiShocker of Sentai and appear in every movie as a new incarnation.

Top 5 Sentai series I want to see fully subbed
5. Ohranger - Aside from the obvious reasons (:p), I'm curious to see just how downhill it went to almost kill Sentai. I'm also interested in what became Prince Sprocket and Gasket being the same character.

4. Abaranger - I know there are HK subs floating around, but I'd love to see this fully subbed by a decent fansub group. Everyone talks about how great it is, and it and Hurricanger are the only series I'm missing from Gaoranger to present.

3. Hurricanger - See above

2. J.A.K.Q. - From the little I've seen of the characters this seems like a show I could really get into. Plus its short so even if it isn't that great it won't feel like a chore to watch.

1. Kakuranger - Because its Kakuranger. Enough said.

Series) Mahou Sentai Magiranger- Love magic, love the concept of a family of heroes, MagiKing is epic, especially the fact that he can turn into a FREAKING DRAGON and MagiPhoenix getting to become Fire Kaiser and Saint Kaiser.

Sentai Red) Kai Ozu/Magi Red. Red Magic User who's the youngest in his family, gets to be the leader. Pretty much what I'd wanna do if I had that kinda life XD

Sentai Blue) Joe Gibken/Gokai Blue- Dude can quintuple-wield swords. Sure the actual props were combined, but still, 5 swords!

Sentai Pink/White) Ahim De Famille/Gokai Pink- She's so adorable, sweet, and well-

Sentai Green/Black) Makito Ozu/MagiGreen- Kai's big bro is awesome, plus MagiTaurus is the largest of the Majin.

Sentai Yellow) Yumeria Moegi/Akiba Yellow. Yes, she's not official, but again, she's adorable, and incredibly funny.

Sentai Sixth) Gai Ikari/Gokai Silver- Fanboy turned Ranger, what I hope someday lol

Machine/Mech) MagiKing- The epicness that is a giant winged wizard is so awesome.

Best Opening) Mahou Sentai Magiranger- Green Land, Pink Storm, Blue Splash, Yellow Thunder...RED FIRE!

Favorite Villian) Basco. He was a dick, but at least he was a badass dick.

Reasons?

Since I've been listening to a lot of Sentai and J-Pop music as of late, I'll do my top five themes.

1. Denji Sentai Megaranger
2. Juuken Sentai Gekiranger
3. Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
4. Engine Sentai Go Onger
5. Ninpu Sentai Hurricanger

Honorable mentions: Gosei Sentai Dairanger, Morphin Movin Bustersship from Go-Butsers, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger

Gosei Great - I absolutely love the design. It's so nice to see a Dragon in Sentai that doesn't look like Dragon Ceasar or Whatever they called Red Dragon Thunderzord. All of the Headders were well thoughtout, aside from Phoenix, and they came together in a way I loved. Its a beautiful machine.

Magiking - Number 2 only because of my obsession with Goseiger. The dragon was just a joy to behold. And it wasn't a 'Voltron-Oh' yet it wasn't the mess of some other mechs I could name who also aren't. They really took their time, and thought out how each Titan would merg and combine. While Go-Bust-Oh has grown on me: It's still a mess. It just is.

Daibouken - This would've been higher if not for Blue's. I don't like Machines they only form the head and/or chestplate and do nothing else. Yellow in Abaranger, Pink in Zyuranger, and Blue in Daibouken. The rest of the mech is perfect it's just that one thing holding it back in my opinion. Useless Machines that make you wonder "Why bother even piloting it?"

Jungle Pride Megazord - I do love the Geki. I love all of them, especially the Master. But this one was always special. Aside from Violet only becoming a foot.. And I do love when a head lowers down from an animal head. It's a weakness of mine.

Gosei Ground - Now. I love Gosei Knight. He's the only reason this is on my list, and how much I love Groudion. A bigass Lion Tank? Sign me up. But.. I know Gosei Knight would have to become the head. But something about him contorting like that into a handstand... And worse when he combines with Gosei Great.

Know what, I love me some Gosei Knight, but I'm doing another Number 5.

Gouryuzin - When Dragon Caesar combined with Mammoth, Tiger, and Tricera, he becomes an upright peice of awesome. Again, I have a weakness for the head lowering out of an animal head. I adore the Drill Spear as a weapon, I absolutely love how it looks. And I love when it become the Dragon Megazord over here, they kept in the finisher where it drills a hole in an enemies stomach. Best Finisher Ever.

Kakuranger is such a gigantic tease! Awesome theme song, awesome mecha, cool costumes, seemingly great story and theme. Yet no one has done it! Please oh please get it subbed!

Apparently it's the best series no one is interested in. GUIS doesn't want to do it and TV-N has no interest in it, O-T already has so much on their plate, and Hikari Senshi is moving on a snail's pace with it :S

Which means that some fan better get a move on making a sub hahaha.

Okay, then, Top Five Reasons why Umeko is the Most Awesome Ranger Ever

5. One of the rare female team leaders. It's rare that you see a Sentai team actually led by a female Ranger. Off the top of my head it's just Kakuranger, Timeranger, Shinkenger (for like an episode), and Dekaranger. So that distinction makes Umeko really cool. I mean, sure, she's really only the leader because she says so and none of the other Dekarangers actually pay attention when she says she's in charge, but that doesn't change the fact that she is totally in command... in her head.

4. She's totally a pop star. She can play guitar. She can totally play the guitar. Or at least she can hold one somewhat convincingly. And she can convince her entire team to play back-up. Yeah, Jasmine is singing with her, but let's face it - Umeko is totally the Simon of Girls in Trouble. Jasmine is just the Garfunkel.

3. She has a robot dog. Robot dog. Robot. Dog. How cool is that? I bet you don't have a robot dog.

2. She's hygienic. Umeko takes tons of baths. She probably smells really good.

1. She's badass, adorable, upbeat, hilarious, awesome, silly, cute, and she steals the spotlight of every scene she's in and is hand's down the best part of my favorite Sentai series ever (out of the, like, six I've seen). Also she's not an ESPer.

Technically, Shafu appoints Ran/GekiYellow as the leader of the Gekirangers.

Anyway, I might have to check out Dekaranger...

I'll go with the top 5 Kyodai Robos that I don't understand all the love for.
5. Gouraijin. It's not a terrible design by any means, but it just seems like the kind of thing that people would consider bland to me. The detached fists never help, and the whole thing looks disproportionate.
4. Ohranger Robo. That gold chrome looks awful. The blue is one of the ugliest shades of that color. The headdresses look progressively worse.
3. Dragon Caeser. I know he's the Dragonzord. Beyond that though, the most exciting thing he can do without gutting Daizyujin is doing the splits and becoming a shawl.
2. Daibouken. I like Super Daibouken, and I think Ultimate Daibouken is absolutely awesome. But the base robo looks so incredibly stale, with red making up practically all of it.
1. Everything from Gokaiger. What a train wreck.

We disagree on alot of that list. Except Goka-Oh, on that you and I agree. Alot of the Secret Powers should've stayed Secrets. Gaoranger started as a useless Centaur Mode, and I've said before I hate those. Lazy Design. Hurricaranger's Power was crap. I hated the shurikans that popped from his arms and legs, I hated the head sprang out of the chest. They should've done what they're doing for the next movie and transformed the Mecha into Other Mecha by using Keys.

And then Gokai Galleon wouldve been the whole mech like Megaranger.

I think Gekiranger just replaced Megaranger as my favorite theme song.

5: Disagree. Then again, I have a major soft spot for beetles.
4: Disagree. However, my liking for Ohranger Robo is entirely based on the combination. In a franchise that can't get enough of it's VoltronOhs, anything that changes up the norm is fine by me (And I like the gold chrome).
3: Agree. The ONLY occasion I thought it was cool was when it formed it's own mech with the mammoth, triceratops, and saber toothed cat.
2: Agree. I really don't see what makes Daibouken so amazing.
1: Agree, so much. GokaiOh, the ultimate powers, Gozyujin. They were all terrible.

Top 5 robos in no particular order:

Senpuujin: The reason why was because it played a homage to Liveman's Liveman robo. Probably unintentional, but, Ill add it to my list. Everything worked with him. Easy on the eyes, great design, and awesome color choices.

Victory Robo: This is probably the best "realistic" robo. I mean, look at the transformation sequence. Pretty much what it would look like if it were in real life. The design is amazing. It reminds me of some old school robos. Im also a sucker for robos with visors.

Great Five: I just love maskman, and the Great Five is no execption. Pretty old school looking. I love it. The vehicles arent too boring. One odd thing for me is that the robo doesnt really go with the theme of it. But, It works anyways.

Kyoryujin: Yes, its the new one thats coming out. I just love the thing! I mean, its pretty dino-esque. It looks great in action from that short scene that was in the teaser. The individual mecha look good. The colors work. Also, its easy on the eye.

Gosei Great: No, I didnt choose this robo because of all the hype for megaforce. The robo is just great looking. To the little angel wings on its head down to the headders, pretty fanatastic looking robo. It looks great in action too. It gives off a celestial feel to it.

Well, with me completing Gokaiger today, and giving a pretty small review of it in the watching thread, I thought I'd give my five top favorite characters of the whole show. But first, let's quickly run down my favorite mecha/mecha add ons.

I should really make a list for inserty robo songs(maybe character songs too). Every single one of those is under appreciated.
