Go-Busters Mission 1 discussion "Special Ops Cell, Assemble!"
Alright folks, in this thread you may discuss the very first episode of the 36th super sentai, Tokumei Sentai Gobuster!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBvJKcsQULc The opening is already on youtube, so enjoy until the very first subs come out! |
The opening was fantastic to watch! Even if I have no clue whats happening in it I still like it.
|
agreed, what little we can see in the opening I like, things are looking up for Gobuster!
|
I really like the way all the weapons materialize like that
|
Just finished watching the raw for it.
First thing that stood out that this did not feel like a conventional Sentai show at all. Had something different about it, but I can't seem to place it. No roll-call or big and flashy debut transformation which was weird. I think they might save that for Mission 2 though; I heard a lot of narrative dialog in this episode which I assume was just explaining the concept of everything. The mecha fight stole the show for me. I've watched bits and pieces of a whole lot of Sentai shows, and this is by far THE best mecha fight I've ever seen. I really hope it continues. |

We just finished the first episode and it was actually not that bad. I liked it and hope that the show can keep up with the new surprises like this did.
Postives: -Except for the sunglasses on the helmets, I actually like their costumes in action. The webgear is a pretty cool feature as well. -The villian having a human form was unexpected and nice to see. Although, he looks like something out of either Jet Grind Radio or MegaMan Battle Network. -I liked the way he uploaded a virus into a random object (in this case, a bulldozer), and it became a monster. -The clock on the bottom of the screen when the villians sent out their mecha, as it meant the 3 minutes was not going to be a Dragonball styled 3 minutes. -The weapons being show as teleporting to the rangers from the base instead of just randomly doing so. -Except for the cheetah head that appeared in the front of the car, Red's mecha is pretty cool and the fact that it has its own robot mode makes me think of RyuuSeiOu from DaiRanger. -The spy-like theme that was going on in this episode. I hope we get more stuff like that. Negatives: -The Buddy Roids, I do not like them, as they seemed very annoying, especially the gorilla. -The brief backstory on the rangers, but since this is the first episode, they usually do need to sell the show right away. Hopefully we know more about this within the next few episodes when they get the toy show room out of the way. -The giant mecha for the villians. While it is not terrible, as it was a nice to see something different, I hope this does not become a standard where all we get is a giant mech with a resemblance to the monster of the week. This is one of the points where I felt Bioman failed at, as it just got boring seeing the same giant robots being beaten by the rangers' mech. -The dancing in the ending song. No words can describe its horror with justice. Overall though, like I said, I was quite impressed and hope Toei keeps it going upward from here on, as I am looking forward to the next episode (and Nihon's release of the first episode). Oh, and what is up with all of the Power Rangers homages? The "It's Morphing Time" transformation scene, the villian's mecha being called Megazord Beta, and the beeping sound from the original ranger's communiators. Next we'll get one of the Buddyroids shouting, "Aye yai yai yai yai." |
So far so good for me. I only watched the RAW version and I really like the giant robot effects. The effects over all are much better. Looking forward to the translated version.
|
kinda has a ryukendo feel, but more serious and with giant robots.lol

- The miniature shots for the mecha battle felt fresh being shot outside
- No bank shots for henshin and gattai sequences are definitely a new one and will be looking forward to see more of(*bank shots for those who are not familiar with the term, are shots in tv shows regardless of medium that are re-used multiple times. Henshin sequences and gattai sequences are an example of this) - The trap door sequence where Ryuji and Yoko popped out of a poster was fun to see. - New material! I like. I believe a shift in textiles has not happened since Dynaman (first team to wear spandex), and it's about time we saw something new happen with costumes. With the first episode showing promise, I think it is safe to say IT'S MORPHIN TIME! and Buddyroids FTW |
.....and i just saw the end dance number.lol.I'd be ok with it if it were just the busters dancing, yknow kids show and what not.But no they had to go and ruin it by not only making the commander dance who was barely talked and was serious the whole episode, but also....*facepalm*the gobuster-oh.then the whole crew that works on the gobuster-oh started dancing, which then made sense why it would dance.lol
|
i love that gorilla in opening
|
Really liking it so far. The only thing I didnt like was the dancing at the end. Good thing they didnt do that for Gokaiger...I bet Marvelous wouldve bodyslammed somebody if they asked him to do that.
|
That was a great opening!
I'm still giggling at "Enertron" though :lol EDIT: I just saw this on Orends.... http://i.imgur.com/pv6UA.jpg Isn't that the Super Sentai wikipedia page? :lol |
The first episode was fantastic!
And I have to be honest but this doesn't feel like your typical sentai, I'm not saying it's not a sentai but it feels so fresh and different that it reminds me of the first time I watched kamen rider, or ryukendo or Rescue Force. I really love the real time henshins aswell, I hope they keep up with that, and even real time Mecha transformations, all this real time in a sentai just, it's just too overwhelming even with a counter on the side during the Megazord's arrival. It was a very stylish and well shot opening episode, and the stunts and mecha fight scenes were superb, especially that moment when Hiromu appears and it's actually the actor flying across on bikedude (I can't remember his name atm). Also Toei are really stepping up their mecha game, like one guy on HJU said you can really feel the scale in the battles (Very nice touch with the people in the building!) So far though a fantastic opening episode, let's hope they can keep up this kinda of quality throughout, Gokaiger managed to keep it up to a degree so hopefully toei learnt from that to keep it consistent in this new series! |
You know when it was the last time I remember a dancing number during the end credits? Goseiger...

With the exceptions of Boukenger, Shinkenger and Gokaiger, all the end themes since Deka have had some form of dance in them so I can live with Go-busters being the same. Its not all that bad anyway, at least the song is good.

I've been thinking over the episode and I thinkvi realized why it seemed so different.
Aside from the scene where Enter uploads the virus onto the steam shovel the entire episode was basically just one continuous fight scene. |

Just watched the sub. Loved the episode, some real promise in there :D
The real time stuff was excellent, and the mecha battles was one of the best ones in modern Sentai IMO. For some reason not only does the scale seem much bigger, but it also feels like a less-conventional Sentai. Can't wait to see how this show pans out. Still hoping Over-time pick it up for subbing though, Harorangers translation wasn't bad by any means but I had quite a few nitpicks with it. |
Very nice but I can't get pass the sunglasses in their visor. Otherwise a thumbs up for me.
|
I'm liking the look of things so far. The first episode felt a bit rushed (did they ever mention the blue Buster's name - if so I missed it), but by and large it was still a solid debut. So far it's reminding me a lot of SPD (and presumably Dekaranger) with the more military organization, the villain mechs, and the team's red showing up late and kicking ass - none of which is by any means a bad thing. I like the suits and gear a lot - the teleporting weapons thing is a nice change from stuff just magically appearing - and CB-01 is just amazing. I kinda want to get the toy of that, even though I know it's going to be damn expensive and is probably already sold out everywhere. Still, the triple changing thing is cool and the Transformers fan in me loves how Lockdowny the car mode looks. The bot mode is where it really shines, though, and the first mech fight was really well done - it felt a lot more mobile than they usually tend to be.
I can't say in all honesty that this wowed me as much as Gokaiger's premiere, but I am definitely intrigued enough to keep watching. |
I think its gonna be a good series thats gonna take some getting used to.still trying to get used to the mech battles.i am glad that the episodes badguy doesnt have to pilot it,so there's room for some major fight scenes each episode.I think the mech fights seem bigger cause the swings of the enemy mech are slower, and the camera angle is lower.

Just watched the first episode and it seems very promising. Some quick thoughts:
-I would have liked some interaction between the team but it's not like we won't see that anytime soon. -From what we saw of the Buddyroids though I quite like them, especially the Gorilla who reminds me of Deneb a bit. -I really like the digital motif/aesthetic the villains have, though I want to know more about them story wise. -I'm a bit afraid I may be too tough on this show because I loved Gokaiger so much and this has come right after, so it's going to be difficult to not compare one to the other. |
Ace makes me think this is what would happen if a Gundam and a Transformer had a baby and was live-action...and good.
Soild first episode. Keep up the style and it should be a fine series. PS "LET'S DRIVING!" I love Engrish somethings :lol |
That was an amazing episode! The pace was electrifying. Just one episode in and I can already feel the gravitas in this season. Did they increase the budget or something?
Is it just me, or does this feel like they're trying a LOT of new things with Super Sentai? From Kamen Rider style henshins to a very distinctively new style of cinematography. The new style of filming mecha battles is breathtaking, it really immersed me in the heat of the battle, and I have to say this is the best mecha battle I've seen in years. For once the mecha don't just feel tacked on. Even with just a sliver of characterization, we already get a glimpse at all the characters' personalities. I sense big things for the character development. Overall, a mightily impressive first episode that had me at the edge of my seat. I absolutely cannot wait for episode 2, and kudos to Harorangers for subbing episode 1 so quickly! |
I was...Thoroughly unimpressed...
I found the end credits to be more interesting than the episode itself... |

I liked it. Looking forward to future episodes!

Just watched the sub. I watched the RAW earlier in the day and what a world of difference the subs make :lol That was just a fantastic episode. Really digging what they've done with this one. The fight scenes were fantastic and I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this but the Busters have the perfect Suit voices. They're voices fit those costumes very well. Pleased all around. Haorangers didn't have the perfect sub but I still enjoyed it immensely.
|
Didn't like the goofy spy music during unmorphed battles.
Loved the lack of stock footage for henshins. Loved the use of helmetless scenes (more in this episode than in all of Gokaiger). Loved the mech battle. Epic. Unsold yet though. Need to watch the sub. |
