Power Rangers Hexagon - Ahmit Bhaumik's Un-Used Ninja Storm Storyline Finally Shared
1 Attachment(s)
Hey Power Ranger fans! Do you know who Ahmit Bhaumik is? Well, for starters, he wrote the first real anniversary episode for the series with the Power Rangers Wild Force episode Forever Red. But have you heard about the un-used storyline that he outlined for what we know as Power Rangers Ninja Storm, which he had code-named Hexagon?
The original goal of that season would to be tying up previous characters and storylines from the Power Rangers universe. Villains like Scorpina, Prince Gasket and Archerina, even Lokar would return and play roles in the season. Main characters in the show? Tommy Oliver, or as you might remember him, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Green and White Ranger, Power Rangers Zeo Red Ranger, Joel the Green Lightspeed Rescue Ranger, Ninjor from the third season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and even more (like the Alien Rangers). It would have been Ninja Rangers (Red, Yellow, Blue) against Beetle Rangers (Dark Red, Dark Blue) ... both teams heroes but akin to a storyline similar to Marvel Comics' Civil War series where heroes battle heroes over the right or wrong way to be a hero. Ahmit even wanted to add a third Beetle Ranger/seventh Ninja Storm Ranger to even out the guy/guy/girl ratio. And Tommy Oliver would have returned to be the Green Samurai Ranger, the most powerful Ranger of all time. Want to read the whole synopsis? We got you covered. Just click right here and check it out! Don't forget to come back here and post your thoughts on what COULD have been ... or even if you think it SHOULD have been or not. |
Heck yes this should have been!
Ninja Storm was my least favorite season and the point at which I stopped watching regularly. This, though? This would have been incredible. |
So that's who I blame for Forever Red. But given this story idea I think I can forgive him. It certainly sounds better than the abortion that was Ninja Storm.
|
That story Idea sounds to good, which is why who ever was in charge didnt use it, because they must hate epic ideas
|
If nothing else that was a pretty informative read with some interesting ideas. I personally wouldn't mind seeing this story or something similar/based on it being made as a comic book or even prose.
|
that would've been awesome! but considering what weve had since ninja storm, I think it was okay not using it, sure NS sucked, as did most Disney-era seasons, but I really hope Saban reconciles this in season 2 of megaforce
|
Yeah, I guess that sounds cool, but it also feels just a little bit too fan-fictiony to me. Also if they were gonna do this idea, I really don't think that Hurricaneger would've been the right show to do it with. Maybe Abaranger would've worked better for this, costume, theme & footage-wise, but this idea still feels too much like someones fan-fiction.
|
I have to agree that it sounds a little fan-fictiony, but I still probably would have loved the hell out of this. And anything is better than Ninja Storm.
|
When Abaranger first started, I saw an american layout as clear as day. I wrote up a (LENGTHY) outline for a PR adaptation which I posted on Rangerboard. many of ideas are in the final product (most of that very much coincidence I'm sure, with the possible exception of one idea) but it bears a striking similarity to this...... Though my idea very specifically had NO high technology or central command center with bright shiny lights.

i liked it but make tommy evil again as the evil 1st samurai green

Why couldn't this have happened? Ninja Storm was so god awful and now I learn about the existence of something ridiculously better? Damn it. This could have been great. Instead Disney screwed us so hard that we didnt get another good series until SPD.

It's an intriguing concept that would probably have been too ambitious for the series. The others are right that it would be a wee bit too fanfiction-y. Still, I'll admit that it would be tremendously fun to watch.
|
All of it sounds awesome, but I have to agree as well; it's a little too fanfiction-y for me.
|
I would had jumped all over a super hero Civil War with Power Rangers. But I doubt it would had flowed as well as the writer would have liked.
|
Sounds great on paper but who knows how well it would have played out on screen. While closure to some of the pre-disney series would have been nice, it may have seemed all a bit forced.
|
I think this would have been a nice idea, but as some of you are saying, it totally could have fallen apart as soon as it got off paper.
On a side note, am I the only person who likes Ninja Storm? |

sounds good...a bit too mature for a kids show i think but still amazing

Granted, they fumbled the ball a lot on it, but they managed to get it back. |
Figured I'd throw my $0.02 in this conversation.
I love the idea in terms of a total fan-wanky fanboy stance, but at the same time, I don't think it would have translated well in to television. For starters, the amount of money needed to bring back many of those past actors/actresses, the need to bring back costumes and shoot new footage ... it just seems like an impossible task. The story sounds great though - I just doubt it'd translate well for a show that was becoming more geared for an even younger audience (post Wild Force) than anything. Ninja Storm gave us something gearing back towards the 7-11 range (instead of the 3-9 range) and Dino Thunder, SPD, and Mystic Force continued that. It wasn't until probably Operation Overdrive and Jungle Fury that I felt the show took a nose-dive back towards the age 5 audience. RPM obviously went for the pre-teen and Samurai ... well, Samurai went straight for age 3. This concept is geared for the older fan. And to be honest, a majority of older viewers who used to watch the show probably don't care ... we're a minority, we as people who still follow Power Rangers and care about the story. Hopefully in Megaforce Season 2 we're given plenty of nods and such, but until then.... |
so where did Linkara get his info that the thunder academy was going to be run by phantom ranger? i didnt get any hint of that here.

I think I recall Linkara talking about this idea on one of his HOPR videos (Most likely Ninja Storm) but I don't think it would've worked all that well, especially with Ninjas as a base theme. Lightspeed Rescue could have worked with this kind of idea (Hell, apart from old Rangers and civil war, it pretty much was)

Greetings from the future, Megaforce season 2 is soo bad, it'll make you gouge your eyes out
Jokes aside, it's sad to see how many hopes were set on the explosive trash fire that was Super Megaforce. Made Megaforce look better in comparison. How could Saban screw up a season that had all the source footage it needed to be a winner. Hexagon was a nuts idea, considering how little Disney cared for the brand straight out of the gate, and how small a budget it was allotted, it would've crashed and burned. Probably would have sucked worse than SMF too. Quite an outlandish concept for a childrens series that was transitioning to a younger demographic. Still, if the script is any good, hasbro could probably help rework it as a Netflix Original. |
Akibaranger season 2 created a female dark senshi voiced by hurricane blue.
