Hyper Hobby Feb 2013 Scans: Kamen Rider
 

We bring you more scans from the February 2013 issue of Hyper Hobby magazine courtesy of modxtoy, this time covering a range of Kamen Rider news and products!

On show in the magazine are images of current rider Kamen Rider Wizard and the series' incoming second rider Kamen Rider Beast, as well as shots of villains Medusa and Phoenix and stills from the recently released Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Wizard & Fourze: Movie War Ultimatum.

On the toy side of things, we have images of SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Wizard, the Kamen Rider Beast driver and roleplay toys, rings, vinyl toys and much more!

Beast has to be one of the coolest Riders I've seen. I'm interested in his debut primarily because of his design.

Kamen Rider Matador! Olé! I'd love to get a bunch of Rider helmet statuettes (and some Sentai ones, of course)

Why is Alternative Zero (is that right?) getting an RAH? I don't know a whole lot about Ryuki, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't the most significant villain (ugh, not even sure if he was a villain). Pretty sure it was Ouja, just like in Dragon Knight. I'm also pretty sure this costume was only particularly important in Dragon Knight where it was worn the Advent Master. Oh well, maybe he was important. Edit: Just read up a bit on him and I guess "they're" not really villains. But they still don't seem that significant, especially if Axe was the one who ended them.

Charizard looks cool! :D

I'm over Beast. His helmet is just a remold of RahToraTah, his belt is from fraking Power Rangers Samurai, and his sword looks like someone melted the Skick Sword from Goseiger into a Spin Sword. The cape isn't long enough, for another thing. Just looks like they didn't give a damn so they threw random shit together to see what stuck.

Finally. Someone else has come to their senses about Beast.

We keep agreeing more and more. .. Is anyone else scared?

I'm not seeing a remould of LaToraTah at all in Beast's helmet. Very similar themes yes, but the shape is completely different.

Really? If I had the ability I'd side-by-side them because they're the same damn helmet, with only a few subtle changes.

Those are definitely just similarities due to both of the helmets being based on lions. The two helmets are completely different in terms of detail and shape.

How do you not see it now? It's RahToraTah with a haircut! And, okay, let's say you still don't. You have to see that belt is the shogun belt with the face missing and a Lionhead in it's place. Right?

Edit: Brain, there's similar because it's the same damn helmet.

Not helping that the crest is cut along the same lines as LaToraTah's cuts and the eyes are the same shape.

Besides, I just dislike Beast because it's a bad design.

All they did was trim the mane and paint the mouth. It's a Lazy design that blantantly rehashes old designs. It could've been so much better. But instead they just shrugged, said F-It, and went for a damn bowl of Sake at the local Hostess Club.

How did I not know they were doing D-Arts of Pokemon? Holy crap that is awesome. Want that Charizard, bad. Mewtwo is BAMF as always, of course.

Also, are we gonna be getting Figuarts of say...Phoenix or Medusa?

D-Arts Pokemon. I desperately hope that line thrives...Especially after they left me high and dry for Digimon and Medabots/Medarot...

And while it's a good bet that we will, I wouldn't hold my breath for anything beyond exclusive...Something about villains never selling well (And the fact that only one of Haruto's base forms is mass release).

God damn, I wish I'd picked up those Medabots model kits when I was younger. Medabots was a brilliant concept.

I loved Medabots. I never understood why it didn't catch on here in the US...

The animation for the cartoon wasn't my cup of tea and it was right in that tempest of Pokemon/Digimon/Monster Rancher/Beyblades/etc so something was going to fall by the way-side, which is a damn shame. The core concept was great.

I loved it completely. I used to collect those small figures from the game they had. I forget his name now, but I remember loving the one the guy in the tuxedo used. God it's been years since I've watched that show.

Goodness I seem to be liking all the unpopular designs. :(

Yeah, it sucks that it's release was during the reign of Pokemon. It had a lot of potential, but I guess either the US was getting tired of the concept or Pokemon just held such a tight grasp on it no one felt the urge to watch...

Well.. I do love me some Arcbeetle, Gekiranger, and think Roxas needed pushed off that Clocktower for real.. And I do look good in black. Yup, sign me up :lol

I don't get it.

They're both lions.

Of course you'll see some similarties between the helmets. It's just unavoidable.

But they're quire clearly different enough that in no way is Beast just a "remolding" of Ratoratah. Different mane, different forehead jewel, different mouthplate, different whisker placements, different eye shapes even (well.. maybe on that one. It's hard to tell if Beast's are more squared on the inner bottom section or it's just glaring off the nose and reflecting there. But even still, he has a nose. That's a difference.)! They're different enough that you might as well say all Riders after Ichigo are bad designs because they just remolded him.

I'm still a huge fan of Beast's design. Liking it more than Wizard already and he really warmed up to me even.

Is anyone else wishing that Wizard's final Form is black like Kuuga?

Yeap Beast is a great design. I don't think it's a problem taking design cues that are good; it's not blatant plagiarism after all. The execution is great and results in a striking look.

It's blatantly the same damn helmet. It's lazy, uninspired, and whoever's responsable should be shot out of a cannon into space, by a slingshot, hooked through their toenails.

Except it's not.

It really isn't the same. It's about the same design as Black Panther is the same as Batman or Thanos is the same as Darkseid.

I agree with all the bad points now that i got a better look at it.The helmet is the same,the belt is the shogun belt,and whats worse that noone i think has heard about yet is apparently his character loves mayonnaise.....on everything.That means we could see a mayonnaise covered doughnut.....*runs to the bathroom* (Only thing I disagree about is the eyes.Saying the eyes look the same on two Kamen Rider helmets is like complaining that two different sentai teams are sharing the same color.I agree with you guys on the helmet design being copied,but the eyes are a given)

Beast is shaping up to be my least favorite secondary rider ever. His casual design makes Shunpei's fashion sense look good. He's already going to be a major douche (Secondary rider syndrome. Standard since Den-O), his suit design is horrid, and now he likes mayonnaise? I could forgive everything else but that's taking things too far.

Well in mayonnaise's defense, Japanese Mayonnaise is pretty good. Just not good enough to put on everything :lol

If there's a mayo doughnut I'm officially going to hate him.
