Review: Gokai-Red Helmet by Aniki
Well, after much anticipation, I finally have it in hand: The Gokai-Red helmet by the helmet maker Aniki!!
Aniki has been known as the helmet maker to go to, so when he offered up a chance in his cheap helmet run, I knew I couldn't pass up the chance, I paid for the helmet in October, and received it today in March. I knew before hand that the helmet was going to take longer than usual and was perfectly fine with it. It was the subsequent issue where Aniki marked the helmet as shipped, when in fact, it had be sitting in his shipping agent's office that entire time. Aniki's communication leaves a lot to be desired and sometimes down right upsetting, but in the end he delivers and a pretty good product with little flaws. On to the pictures! Here is the box, a lot smaller than I was expecting http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/1907/img6309blur.jpg Aniki has placed newspaper for cushions, which I had already removed prior to this shot http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/977/img6311vmhv.jpg Minor paint flaws http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/4091/img6313w.jpg http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/8403/img6314ac.jpg http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/9050/img6315t.jpg http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/1523/img6316c.jpg http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/703/img6317s.jpg It's a TIGHT FIT! I had to remove most of the paddings (but then again, I have a HUGE head) http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/3270/img6318li.jpg http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/3084/img6319b.jpg http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/6291/img6321x.jpg http://img802.imageshack.us/img802/3900/img6322u.jpg http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/2209/img6323p.jpg I had asked Aniki to not use the clasp since I wanted to add magnets for the seamless look, but now that I have it in hand, I think the clasps are the only way the helmet will stay on my head :lol Although much paint are already lost after one wear :( http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/1085/img6326f.jpg http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/572/img6327n.jpg Video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_waqFougmM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ks2IxP6MNk |
its not perfect but tis pretty awesome none the less! I would love more information on how to order one from Aniki.
Thanks for the review. Looks great and you looks great on you. |
You can find Aniki through Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/anikicosplay or through RangerBoard's market place, it's a true exercise in patience though as Aniki's really bad with getting back to people :(

Here's a custom glove built by my good friend Greg Upton of BoilerRoomCreations.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEQML...&feature=share Here's a quick video of my glove collection: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLpumPXOP1o |
That looks amazing!
I really want a helmet of some kind eventually, but I have a GIANT head. My friend ordered a Kamen Rider, The Next helmet (the suit is easy to make), and I tried it on. His head appears to be much larger than my own, but it fits him snugly, and wouldn't even close shut on my head, haha. |
Definitely a lot better than those DIY helmets out there and I had to go and add that on my facebook too what's the price on a helmet like that I know I want one by halloween, planning on being a 'ranger' and would love to get one for my collection. And btw Bot Marley it's been too long my old friend!!!

His helmets are normally around $385 shipped, but I got lucky and was able to get on his "Cheap Run" for $290, the catch is that the helmet takes longer to complete. Aniki mainly does these cheap runs to raise quick cash, and mine was from his 4th run, doesn't mean that he'll do more in the future, but doesn't mean he won't either.

Looks really good, maybe one day I'll be able to afford to treat myself to one!
