Wizard Episode 19: "Today's Life, Tomorrow's Life" Discussion
Well it airs in two hours in Japan, but might as well make the discussion thread now!
1. Beast continues his battle against Haruto and the Hydra Phantom! 2. The Gate is on the verge of becoming a Phantom! 3. Shunpei and Rinko have to tell Kosuke the truth! 4. Will Beast help Wizard or continue doing what he wants? 5. Wizard Land Dragon Style and BeastChimera make their first battle appearance! D-I-S-C-U-S-S!~PLEASE~ |
I hate having to wait for subs :[

Heyyyy . . .updated intro! :)
|
Well hey. Haruto and Nitou buried the hatchet (sort of).
Also who knows what would have happened had Haruto not found the letter behind the painting. D: Also hey! Next episode gives us Phoenix's backstory! |
That was a satisfying conclusion, glad that Beast understands how the creation of Phantoms works and won't actively be working to create them like I suspected he might. How he knew about the Underworld and how to access it did stick out, as he was never told about that part. I really liked the idea at the end of Haruto being able to go into Beast's Underworld even though Kouskue doesn't want it.
|
Was an adequate episode. Haruto finally ate something that wasn't a donut (Unless this is 4Kids, where rice balls are donuts), Mayonnaise finally knows about Gates and Phantoms, and apparently they could access each other's underworlds and terminate their respective Phantom, which is neat.

I like that they are rivels and not a**h**ls to each other (at first) like other Rider series
|
Not a bad episode, kinda seemed a bit outta nowhere to have Beast suddenly knowledgeable on Underworlds and whatnot, but I'm guessing that Haruto explained that to him off camera in the same conversation that he explained how a Phantom is born. Doesn't explain the engagement rings though....
|
Man, I really, really hate the shade of yellow used for Land Dragon. The rest of the episode was solid, though.

Why did Mayonnaise's engage ring shout "Please" ?

The Wizardriver shouts Please after Engage as well I think. Regardless I find it funny that the guy who only one episode earlier didn't even know what a Gate was, suddenly knew which ring to put on a Gates' finger to enter their underworld :lol
And no motorcycle for Beast I guess? I hate it when secondary riders get the shaft. |

Anyway I liked this episode. I was wondering how Nitou would handle unborn Phantoms, then it hit me halfway through the episode...wait! Maybe he can go into their Underworlds as well, and that's exactly what happened. I wonder what that Fedora Phantom is planning... |

Honestly, Wizard needs to stop with the 2-parters. I know that's a tradition for Kamen Rider, but it just doesn't work for Wizard. The entire misunderstanding fight (which had no actual fight) was just padding to fill out the 2-part runtime. That said, this episode was better than the first part. So much so that I wonder if the episodes had different writers. |

Why doesn't Haruto just use Engage then? |

Hence, my original statement (Letting Gates go into Despair to feed Beast) still stands.
|
I doubt a Wizard can enter the underworld of a person unless the Phantom is raging. Which begs the question, why did they propose going into to Beast to stop Chimera? Chimera isn't rampaging so they can't go in right? Or if Haruto actually can enter a gate when the Phantom is still dormant why not do that for all gates? Either way the logic is flawed.
|
Another flaw of the show. It doesn't explain things such as this and it's had plenty of time to do so.
If I had to guess, I would say it has somethinmg to do with the Engage rings. Haruto may have a limited amount of these rings or maybe the rings feed off his mana even after the Phantom is under control. Eitherway, he wouldn't want to overuse them. Of course, that's just speculating and that's all we really can do at this point. |
Regarding using Engage on gates before the fall into despair: I just think Haruto has only so many Engage rings. Whenever someone despairs they get one, and every main-ish character gets one by default.
It seems to me that things are going back to the status quota in this episode. What with the gate getting all the focus and tragic back story. And I don't see your guys' problem; I loved Land Dragon's shade of yellow! |
Do you know what was the best part of this episode? A semi-dramatic transformation without a "Shabadoobie touch to henshin" getting in the way.
Was a good episode though - I have to agree about the shade of yellow for Land Dragon's coat, but then I find Land the most underwhelming of the four dragon forms anyway. Chimera is awesome, will definitely have to pick up the DX toy of that. |
I liked Fedora Phantoms vantage point when he was watching Wizard fight. And Koyomi must have been really into the fight to not notice the phantom drop in behind her and skip merrily away.

Yeah. Let's go with that. Make things a lot less confusing.

Man, it feels so good to be actually able to participate in a Wizard episode discussion, since I finally finished catching up a couple of days ago.
Anyways, I thought the episode was pretty solid. I really feel like Beast is the thing the show needed, because to me; the show has really improved since he showed up. It now feels like something more than just another Kamen Rider show; it now actually has an identity of it's own. Really like that they've basically resolved the conflict of Kosuke needing to eat Phantoms in order to survive, in a way that allows him to aid Haruto in his fight; rather than in a way where he's constantly getting in Haruto's way. Also liked the appearance of Land Dragon, really like his design. Also like how he can control gravity. Really curious what Haruto's final form is gonna look like now, or at least the next step to it; since that will probably be showing up in about 10-15 episodes, going off the way it went in W (the only Kamen Rider show I've finished at the moment). The only problem with this episode I had? I'm basically all in for buying a Beast Driver and his Figuart when it gets made down the line. :lol |
