Fire Leon - New Local Hero Tokusatsu!
 

Kamen Rider or Super Sentai not your thing for heroes? Then good news everyone! It has just been announced that a new alternative tokusatsu will be produced by Bushiroad, the company responsible for the popular Cardfight Vanguard anime/CCG. The new show will be titled Fire Leon! Currently it looks like the show will begin airing this April and star pro-wrestler Kazuchika Okada.

However this show will not exclusively feature its' titular character, Fire Leon. This show is meant to be a dream team-up of sorts for the various Local Heroes of Japan! All across Japan small towns and areas have their own locally produced toku heroes, characters who promote the area and bear appearances that honor their towns. Some even make it to local television and film! Fire Leon will feature cameos and guest appearances by Local Heroes from all across Japan!!

Much like Cardfight Vanguard, Fire Leon will have it's own collectible card game also produced by Bushiroad. The CCG will also feature Japans' various local heroes!

It would be pretty bitchin to be one of those towns that has it's own Toku hero to be featured on the show, though.

Okay maybe it's the colours, but the first thing that came to my head when I saw that design was Optimus Prime

Cool concept. Bushiroad is definitely a company to watch. That it learned from Konami's Upper Deck debacle and imported the game to the West on its own dime was a smart move.

Vanguard sells like crack in the states. They definitely know how to market themselves. If they can pull off this whole local here thing then this will be HUGE

Sounds like Akibaranger for Kamen Rider,which is not a bad thing.I'm just interested to see how it goes.

Kinda interesting. The designs don't do too much for me at the moment, mainly because they feel a little.. cheap for lack of a better term.
But hey, it's always good to see more people get into the toku scene. Saizer wasn't too bad of a series (not that I've seen all of it) and everything I've heard about Rescue Force made it sound pretty awesome. Not to mention some competition could shake up Toei's game and make them work even harder to give us some great shows.

With that sig, you are most assuredly crazy. But I do believe you are right about the tiger human thing.

Seeing this makes me wanna start watching the Seishin series... Like I can handle more than one obscure Toku at a time.
