Gokaiger Vs. Gavan The Movie Discussion
Well Over-Time just put the RAW of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger Vs. Uchuu Keiji Gavan The Movie for download. I'm probably gonna try and wait for their sub myself, however we still need a discussion thread for the awesomeness that will surely be in this movie. Jouchaku!
|
It's out already? Didn't it just came out in theaters?
|
Subs are up now too :D

Wow, what a movie. I loved the lampshading with Battle Kenya and Denji Blue, though using their keys exclusively to open a dimensional gate did seem a bit forced plot-wise. I was also pleasently surprised to see the Go-Busters, and that Basco was able to hold his own against them as opposed to them just wiping the floor with him. And of course just having finished Go-Onger I was really happy to see the Gaiark Ministers.

It's out already? *dies*

That was a cool movie.
Much better than the Ghost Ship. Gavan is freaking awesome. I enjoyed that they referenced the fact that the same actor was Battle Kenya and Denji Blue as well. The GoBuster cameo was meh, and Their fight against Basco either demonstrates how weak the Gokaigers are or how much stronger the Gobusters are... Also, the prison filled with former villains was hilarious |
I think ultimately this was a tribute film to Kenji Ohba, his contribution to the Toku genre won't be soon forgotten.

I went back to watch the press conference for the introduction of the Gokaigers, it is amazing how young they all looked, and scared, but they have really grew into their roles. If you can watch the press conference, please do, it's amazing what these actors have achieved in one year.

As for the Go-Buster cameo, I didn't take it as the Go-Busters being that much stronger than the Gokaigers, since you have to remember the Go-Busters actually have super powers. Basco did give up a little too easy, but that's the way these cameos always go down I guess. |

Also, I loved the triple takes. |
Ha- my GF noted that. "Look at the key action- they always show it three times."
It was pretty fantastic. I may've enjoyed it more than 199 Heroes, which I would've thought to be impossible. |
Man that was one hell of a fun movie. It was no 199 Heroes, to me at least, but damn that was good. Kenji Ohba is just the awesomest Toku actor out there. He's just a good cool dude who can kick some serious ass. I liked seeing him totally own Bootleg with some old school Toku attacks. I was hoping that Gai was also a Metal Heroes fan so we could see him totally flip out when the others got arrested by Gavan :lol. But hey that triple henshin by Kenji at the end was just fantastic.

I have to agree with Barricade64 about the part that involved keys, it was forced, and a week point in the story.
This move was way better then the Ghost Ship movie. I really like it. I don't know if I'm the only one here, but I'd really like to see Gavin after this. |
I was hoping (while watching the RAW) that Gavan turned out to be Marvelous's dad :D

Over time has subbed it, and I just finished watching the movie.
Man, a random crossover that came totally out of left field was a lot better then Gokaiger's stand a lone movie...kinda funny. :lol |

EDIT: Actually, the Dekaranger movie was good to. If only for the awesome one use zord. Eitherway, crossovers and Sentai seems to mix very well for a movie. Quote:

Man that was an awesome movie! Gonna go back and watch Gavan. Kenji Obha is still pretty spry for a guy pushing 60. I thought Ghost ship wasn't that great, 199 was pretty good, but the Goseigers were just kinda bland. But this movie was just all awesome all the time.
It was great seeing Marvellous actually in awe of someone. That fist bump from the trailer was just epic. Also Gavan Bootleg is the best name ever for an evil knock off character. |
A little off topic, but thought it was worth sharing for anyone who (like me) really wants to watch Gavan after seeing the movie. Midnight Crew Subs just posted this over on Facebook :D

So I finally got around to watching the movie today, and all I have to say is this:
I need new pants. |
Toei's movies have been either hit-or-miss for me (Ghost Ship is an disappointment, for instance), but this movie rocks. I even like that all-Pink Gokai Change they had in the movie, and the mech battle at the end didn't feel phone-in either. It's a great movie whether you are a Gavan fan or not.

Abare Summer Deluxe was pretty good.
But I do agree, usually their 30 minute movies are not the greatest, but at least they tend to have something redeeming in them. |
And that redeeming feature usually tends to be some sort of new toy :lol
