Started watching Kamen Rider Den-o
as a way to try to get my friends into kamen rider, i decided to show them kamen rider den-o
and hell they are loving it, we've made it episode 5 so far but i've even got a female friend of mine hooked, she loves the humor in it (she's more a fan of funny stuff than serious) but yeah, myself, i'm lovin den-o a lot, really looking forward to that figuart sword form now |
I'm really liking Den-O. My wife and I are on ep 25, now, I think. Really great stuff.
|
Den-O is an awesome series.
|
Den-O goes no where fast and has a very weak final act. I will say though, by the time the show was over I really craved more stories with the Imagin.

I'd say Den-O is a solid introduction series the the franchise. It's good but not the best so that you don't end up being disappointed by every other show not living up to it and is fun to watch.

And lol this sounds like a good idea. I've still got the entire series downloaded. Might have to do this with a few of my friends as well. |
Cooksux pretty much said what I feel. The characters, especially the imagins, are brilliant but not much happens and the final stretch and ending are a bit poor, and it looses it's way explaining itself. Other then that it's a fun ride, with some of my favourite rider forms =]

she wants to cosplay as Ryotaro and he wants to cosplay as Momotaros, so i win :lol
|
anybody know where I can get the first Den-O movie, other than TVN? the one I previously downloaded from them, supposedly HD, is complete and utter crap quality-wise. Unwatchably so.

I'm trying to download an SD version (I think) of the movie, but it's not going anywhere, at all. Like it hasn't downloaded even 1K, and it's been going for 2 days.
But seriously, the HD is unwatchable. It's not low quality, it is no quality. Artifacts and extreme pixilation galore. :( |

Also, I couldn't watch HD if I tried, can anyone like, post a screen-grab from something TVN has done in HD? It can't be that bad. |
In my experience it's not bad. Occassiobally there are glitches or artifacts, but not often, and not distractingly so.
It's just been this one time with the Den-O movie where it has been bad. I just redownloaded it to see if I just pulled it down bad somehow the first time. I also just started Fourze over again, so for the fun of it I grabbed the over time versions. While I have not done any actual side by side comparisons, but my imagination is telling me they're better. |

I was using VLC, but since downloading Fourze from OT I had to switch to Media Player Classic, and I checked the movie last night, and in MPC it's fine. So I guess i must have some old codecs or something for VLC? I dunno, but it's all fixed now, thanks (indirectly) to OT, so Den-O Movie tonight, wooo!
Also, I'm all caught up (to where I was previously) on Fourze, so new episodes tonight. Wooo! |
yeah, for gobuster and all i finally decided to say screw it and use media player classic, and now i'll never use that traffic cone again, even if it served me honorably for years as i watched gokaiger and other tokusatsu related shows

Den-O is (obviously) one of my top Rider shows. I would highly recommend watching it of course. Ryutaro is a fun character whose weakness and inexperience is refreshing compared to people who know hand to hand combat as soon as they become riders for the first time. The Imagin are the best supporting cast for a Rider show. The best, most interesting little group of individuals you can get honestly. Owner is a baller. Hana is GORGEOUS as is Naomi. And Kohana still kicks ass when she's 3 feet tall. And Zeronos is possibly the best secondary rider there is. He's certainly my favorite.
I've never understood it when people watch 3-5 episodes of this show and then never follow up after that. You don't even get the full cast introduction before that point. Please if anyone likes this show, even vaguely, give it a chance. The first movie, Ore Tanjou, and the 3rd, Final Countdown, are the best of the best for Rider movies. You cannot possibly beat this moment from Final Countdown: http://a.imageshack.us/img713/2501/sarabaclimax.png |
about time you posted! :lol yeah i'm gonna watch it all, my friends love ryutaro and momontaros

One reason I think Den-o was awesome was that it broke free from many traditional elements as well as have good writing. Also, the previous shows were darker or mature in tone while this was more light so it was a breath of fresh air.

I really liked Den-O. I'm not a very critical viewer, so I'm not sure how I rank it with the other shows I've seen. But I've really been into the toys lately, and I think that's an indication that I rank the show really highly.
Kiva is still my favorite, due to having the best rider and monster designs. I thought the writing was pretty good, mostly. Double has a little more heart to it than Kiva did though, and I really dig the Memory mechanics, and that there are limited forms that they have mix and match to defeat the Dopants. While I enjoyed OOO a lot, I don't like the Medals as much as more limited options. There's so much to choose from, and sometimes it felt like they were just randomly choosing which ones to use, rather than consciously appraising the situations and abilities of each one (though they certainly did to that on occasion). Ryuki is quite interesting, though I don't find myself anticipating watching a new episode every day, so I'll watch a couple one day, then a week or two will pass before I get around to watching more. I'm experiencing the same with Fourze, I really enjoy them when I watch them, but I can easily go two or three weeks in between watches. I would say Den-O is close to as good as Double for me, so ranked third at worst, and possibly tied for second best rider series I've seen. I really liked the different forms, and that while he's willing to do what he can, he's not capable of going that much, and the Imagins have to possess him to accomplish anything. The stories are a good blend of seriousness with comedy. |
