Wizard Episode 21: "The Crazed Dance of the Dragons" Discussion
1. Haruto struggles against Beelzebub! 2. White Wizard has the solution? 3. Rinko continues her investigation of Yugo/Phoenix! 4. Does Phoenix still have some humanity in him? What will he do to Rinko? 5. Wizard pulls a "Four Swords!" ~DISCUSS! PLEASE~ |
Looking forward to the episode. This is when All Dragon premiers is it not?
|
I seriously doubt the Phoenix formerly known as Yugo has any humanity left. This show has gone out of its way to say that all Gates are meant to spawn monsters if they can't hold on to hope.
It's times like this I miss Caitsith. He was taken from us too soon. |

Why do I get the feeling that Toei really likes the Legend of Zelda?

All for one, and one for all!!!!!

I think the Drago-timer will go down as one of the most over powered mid season upgrades ever

This series has really kind of had an uptick in watchability. It really does feel like the writers took a minute to reflect on what wasn't working in the first dozen or so episodes and improved it. Here we get the supporting cast actually doing stuff, away from the main lead, for most of the episode. Haruto himself wasn't an emotionless blank. The villains have more of a backstory. And we're finding out more about the Wizards! Not much more, but still.
Anyway, random thoughts: - The Gate from this two parter is probably my least favorite one so far. She seems like she'd make for a good Phantom. - White Wizard's belt was cooler than Haruto's imo. Though I think the colors of each would work with the other's costumes better(gold hand with White Wizard, red hand with Haruto) And it was downright rude - no "please" just "now"! - Why didn't Beast just turn invisible when he was stymied by Beezlebub's teleportation power? The teleportation thing wasn't omni-directional, he was still taking hits. Maybe he didn't eat enough mayonnaise. - The DragoTimer is more interesting than I expected based on the toy scans. I figured it was just another lame add-on gimmick toy, and it is, but at least the power it grants Haruto is pretty cool. Still looks lame though IMO. - Speaking of which, it looks like people with the inclination to now have an in-show excuse to buy all the Wizard Dragon form figuarts. - Looks like next week is it for Phoenix...or Medusa. I liked Medusa better for most of the show but Phoenix is genuinely more interesting now. I hope he changes the balance of power and has his own faction of Phantoms. - Speaking of which we're about due for the villains to lay their cards out on the table, right? The mystery of what their plan is has gotten a bit long in the tooth imo. |
Wow, a part 2 that doesn't have a Gate telling a sap story to pad out the time. I'm kind of surprised. Then agan, I have a bad feeling she'll still be there next week.
Just like the last 2 parts, I feel like part 1 is written by someone different from part 2. They feel mismatched. In this case, part 1 wanted to do just another predictable story while part 2 wanted to actually have something happen. Plus, part 1's ending is still terrible. Seriously, I would've be looking forward to this week's episode if they had cut Haruto off mid-sentence and left on White Wizard showing up. Instead, there was no build up or prelude for the main events in this episode at all. And the upgrades are becoming more predictable than the Gates. Seriously, almost every other episode has an upgrade with them breaking for Xmas and Beast only. I'm aware there's other Rider shows that do this, but none of them have been this mind numbingly predictable about it. On the good side, the Rinko and Phoenix subplot wasn't bad, but could've been much better if we didn't know he was Phoenix. I am happy with Phoenix's resolve though. They build that as if he was going to stop being a villain, which is out of character. Thankfully the result of Rinko's words was Phoenix going rogue instead, which is in character for him. Sadly, Phoenix is probably going to die soon since he's becoming a full character. Man, I had high hopes for this show, but it's quickly become a let down every week. |
So I guess we know why Phoenix gets a Figuart--he actually has a character arc. Good to know, and justified in that he's one of the few Phantoms that has something of a personality. Interesting to see where they take things from here.
I wonder if the White Wizard's more sinister-sounding Wizardriver portends that the pet theory here is right? The Drago Timer and the multiple Wizards is. . .hm. It's not my favourite upgrade, but it's OK enough, I suppose. |
Just saw the ep. Its official haruto has entered OP territory, and this is just with his mid season upgrade. Now i really cant wait to see what his final form is going to be.
|
Please God let Phoenix kill Medusa.
Oh, and it seems next episode isn't focused on a gate, that's nice. Oh, and Phoenix Figuart? So bought. |
I have a sneaky suspicion that the White Wizard and Wiseman are the same person. And that Wiseman is trying to power up Haruto for some nefarious reason.

Yeah, I hate myself for getting excited each week, (partially due to that Kamen Rider OOO making it exciting each week. Puhleassse.)
But, seriously this show is so weak... but it has underlined potential to be awesome, which honestly makes me sad. |
Is it just me or has this show slapped all of us awake in the last 2 weeks? After being so so for quite a while these last two episodes have been fantastic! I'll be the first to admit that I was very skeptical of the Drago Timer. But hot damn that was fun to see all 4 Wizards clock into battle. Touche Toei.
And Phoenix is growing much more of a personality that I once thought he would or could. Rinko unknowingly built a pretty strong personal connection to him. Maybe that comes into play later? Maybe, just maybe, if Phoenix sticks around he could become one of those villains turned hero because it's more convenient or fun? |
Toei brought their A game with Wizard and Go-busters this week! I was genuinely interested and not just watching out of habit.
Phoenix is getting seriously interesting. I am kinda rooting for a face turn with him. |
I seriously hope these dragon powers start showing some drawbacks soon, because that was the only thing keeping me interested in the "plight" of Haruto.
Phoenix was great in this episode though, which redeemed it a lot for me. |

Eh was an okay episode. As I assumed Haruto's side was standard upgrade fare, and a pretty underwhelming one. I hope there's more to it then what we've seen.. Like why is it a timer? Does the longer he uses it allow the dragon to take over more etc etc.
Rinko's side plot was the real draw again. We got some nice development for Phoenix and any sub character doing something for a change I can get behind. Also white wizard is badass. The more he shows up the better in my opinion, and a figuart of him is so brought. |
Enjoyed this week's episode much more than the first part. Loved the stuff with Rinko and Phoenix, though I wanted more of White Wizard.
|
The better different continues. I like how next week's episode is sorta a continuation of this two-episode-arc. It's almost like this show is made of more than stand-alone two parters...

Based on the few series I've watched, Wizard has to have some of the most overpowered upgrades of the Riders. However, that doesn't prevent the Dragotimer from being AWESOME. I'm wondering when Haruto will start showing negative effects of using Dragon's powers (come on, we all know it will happen)...
|
Still not as overpowered as mr. no fear no pain kuuga.

I didn't feel the DragoTime was OP at all.
It's basically his Trick Vent or Illusion, making copies that can fight individually. |
I don't get some of the reactions. This 2 parter is AWESOME! We finally got a Phantom that absolutely kicks butt and is sinister to the nth degree. He mopped the floor with both Wizard and Beast more than once. How cool is that? I also love the Dragon timer. I now have an excuse to buy all 4 dragon figuarts in the future. I have always liked Phoenix and now that he's going rogue he's even better. Also, I love that Rinko's getting some story arc by herself. She's a favorite of mine cuz she's so hot looking, and I am glad she's not always part of the group.
Anyways can't wait for next week's episode. Wizard's getting better with each ep imo. |

a) The white wizard wants Haruto to grow up to the point he can kill Wiseman b) Wiseman wants Haruto to become the ultimate Gate and free a badass Phantom dragon (who can also fill the role of the real bad guy behind the guy). This could be interesting, I'd like an inner battle of Haruto, just as Haruto, not KR, vs his inner demon. c) both a) AND b) |
Overall, I really liked this episode. It was nice to see the White Wizard, he had some really good moments. It was interesting how he warned Nitou and Haruto to not let their phantoms devour them. I liked Rinko in this episode as well, also what was up with Phoenix's tear? That never went anywhere. It's nice to see that we might see some in fighting within the phantom's ranks. I hope that they keep up this story element. I liked how the White Wizard gave him advice on how to rely on his own power, or rather how to gain control over the phantom inside of him. The Four Swor-I mean The Drago-Timer was cool. I want the DX toy when it eventually comes out provided it's not tiny. I also liked Nitou's reaction to the White Wizard.

Wow, what an episode. I think this is my favorite episode of the series thus far. We got some great development for Phoenix (I'm figuring he will be the final villain) and I cannot wait to see how much he plays Rinko out. Also, Beelzebub is by far my favorite Phantom of the Week up to this point.
I also love that we now know why Haruto only gets plain sugar donuts and Beast puts mayonnaise onto everything. |

Haruto knows he can't taste anything, so he doesn't bother. Kosuke doesn't want to accept it, so he covers everything with something he once liked to convince himself he can taste. As that'd be all you probably taste with as much as he uses, he can go off of memory then. |
Something I've been wondering, talking of Phantoms/hosts things
I wonder if Wiseman is the White Wizard's Phantom, given how Wiseman's plan of producing magic stones for Haruto to evolve his Dragon Phantom and how WW came up with the Drago Timer for Haruto this episode to get maximum use out of the Dragon. Seems like they both want the same thing. Just wondering if it's not some version of what happened with Koyomi--except unlike Koyomi's Phantom, who we haven't seen, WW and Wiseman are somehow linked or allied. EDIE: Sideswipeprime and I seem to be in agreement. :) |
The Haruto/Mayonnaise have no sense of taste thing is interesting and would explain that very neatly. It WOULD be odd for both of them to have such oddly specific food quirks otherwise.
