What was your first Rider Series?
Just as the title says, what was your first Rider Series?
For me, it was Kamen Rider Decade. Now, while I heard mentions of Kamen Rider Den-O and Kiva from the TFWire Podcast back in the day, I wasn't into Kamen Rider then. In August 2009 after months of hearing on the WTF@TFW Podcast and reading on another forum the Rider Discussion I decided to jump and started to watch Decade. It was a good series for me to start off on because it gave me a crash course of all the Heisei (forgive me if I'm spelling it wrong) Riders up to Decade. And knowing that they were AR Riders, it has me interested in seeing their original series. |
Kamen Rider W. I still think it's a great gateway series for people to get into it.
|
My first was Kiva. Decade seemed to start something of a boom in Rider popularity so I'm kinda glad I got in under that wire... At the time I was watching TV Nihon's subs of Sentai shows having given up on Power Rangers completely during the Disney run and fell in love with how much better the originals were. But Go-Onger left something to be desired, and looking at the preview images I loved the design of Kiva's costume, so I gave it a shot and I've been in the rabbit hole ever since.
|
One of the old ones that was on in the Philippines, also the short lived Masked Rider here, and currently Ryuki. Saw ZX too.
|
Technically, mine was Fourze. After seeing the first 5 episodes (all that was out at the time), I moved on to W and have been obsessed since.
|
Not including Saban's Masked Rider? ;)
D-D-D-D-D-DECADE! While it kinda fell apart for me towards the end, I really liked the characters and concept of the show. |
unlike others, my first was dragon knight, i then started doing research and found out that decade was gonna start about a month or 2 after the sneak preview episode for dragon knight, since then ive seen everything from decade-fourze...... and Den-o... ive been hooked since
|
W/Double for me, and what a series to start with. Like many, it was a certain internet personality who made me aware of Kamen Rider through his reviews of the toys, but it was TJOmega who pushed me over the edge in a conversation we had. W was so good I was hooked on the franchise, for better or worse :lol
|
Like a few other have already said, mine was Decade. When I was watching TVN's subs of Go-onger, I saw the Kiva pictures on their front page, and it was enough to pique my interest in Riders. Decided to jump on the next series and fell in love.
|
Like most people, my first show was W.
I was already a fan of Power Rangers and Sentai, so I figured give Rider a shot so I could finnish the trifecta. Since I have watched OOO, Faiz, handfull of Kuuga, portion of original Kamen Rider, and am currently watching Fourze. I now call myself a Rider fan more so than I do a Sentai fan. The only Sentai I've seen all the way through is gonna be Gokaiger! :O |
I came in near the tale end of Kabuto, but I started with both Den-O and Agito at the same time. Not a bad combo at all. By the way, I got into before you guys had other people to blame! Man, I sound like a hipster...
|
Decade for me.
I was at SDCC helping cover the show for the sites, taking pics at the Bandai booth and saw a Figuart on display of Decade Complete Form and thought it looked awesome. I kept coming back and looking at it throughout the weekend (they weren't actually selling them there, just showing off their various product). When I got home I tracked down the subs and watched through the whole series, and just fell in love with Toku. Just seeing that one Figuart brought me completely into this world and I love it! |
Kabuto, I've seen every heisei series since then and the heisei shows before.

Decade for me as well.
|
555 was the first I watched all the way through. When FigNewton is taken on a board or network FigNewton555 is pretty much still my alternate, and I still use the 555 ringtone on my cell phone. It gripped me and I can't let go lol.

Started with Decade in 2010, but only watched up until the end of the Blade arc before dropping off. I picked it back up last year and proceeded to finish it as well as all the dedicated movies (Though the Den-O/Decade movie was more of a "Hey, look, it's Decade...anyway..." deal and less of a team-up.)
Currently I've also seen the first 2 episodes of OOO, episode 1 of Den-O and 8 episodes of W. |
Decade as well, due to the Shinkengers, as well.
|
Dragon Knight was technically the first Rider series I ever saw, but I consider Ryuki to be my first. After seeing DK and thinking it was lackluster, I decided to check out Ryuki and I've been hooked ever since.
|
Kabuto was my first. Double was the first series I watched as it was airing though.
|
My first Rider series was 555 (Faiz). While I enjoyed it the ending was a complete and utter let down. Then I watched the entire Blade series and was hooked.
After Blade I went back and bought the HK subs for Ryuki and Kuuga. Both of those are great series but Ryuki has one of the most annoying endings ever. |
I got bugged numerous times by that guy Timey2Wimey on twitter to watch W. the rest is history.

Oh, you're getting to where W starts getting really good. |
My first complete series was Agito. My first ever episode, though, was from Decade. I'd seen a bunch of video reviews of Rider stuff from Vangelus and TJ Omega and decided to actually check out one of these crazy bugman shows. And so I started with the first episode of the current series, which at the time was Decade. I instantly loved it, but I was also really confused about who all of these other guys were. That set me off on the fateful decision that if I was going to try to watch Decade, I was going to watch every other Heisei era Rider series first. That plan died really quickly when I learned that Kuuga was not fully subbed (this was summer of '09, a little over a year before we got full Kuuga subs), which sucked as I'd really enjoyed the first couple episodes of that. Agito was easy to find, though, so I moved on to that and watched it from start to end over a period of a few weeks. Then I went on to Ryuki, then Faiz, then Blade, etc.
And I've been hooked ever since. |
D-D-D-DECADE! (waaay back when it started in 2009)
Was gonna start Kiva first, but it was finishing it's run by the time I started getting interested. |
First known, Ryuki. First I got merchandise from, Blade. First watched, Hibiki. First enjoyed, Kabuto lol

Decade was my first Rider series.
The end of it ended up turning me off from Kamen Rider in general for months, until I finally decided to give Kamen Rider W a fair shot. I did, and I've fallen down the well and not gotten back up since. |
Decade was mine mainly because of how hyped up he was at the time and despite others opinions I still love Decade.
after that I was hooked, havnt skipped a single Rider series since either and ive watched all the way back to Ryuki. waiting to finish Faiz, Agito and Black. |
My first was Kuuga when I was a like 8 years old, but I got back into it with Decade

Technically, it would be Couga (Kuuga), having rented old, unsubbed VHS tapes from a Japanese store my mother and grandmother used to frequent when we lived in Kentucky.
The first KR series that led to my becoming a fan, however, was Kabuto's movie, God Speed Love. The first series I watched from start to finish was Decade. |
Mine was OOO's, randomly watched the ShAuTa debut episode and got hooked. Since then i've watched everything from Den-o through to Fourze so far and i'm making my way through Kabuto =)
|
Mine would be Kiva. At the time, I was really enjoying the modern Castlevania games so when I got wind of the show, I knew I had to check it out. I've been hooked ever since.
|
Decade was my first Kamen Rider show - even though it was really hard to follow certain bits because I hadn't watched any others, it was still awesome. And TV Tropes cleared up all confusion XD
|
Actually, wait.
I'm completely and totally wrong. My first Rider series was four or five episodes of Kamen Rider Blade. It was enough to turn me off of the franchise for the next half a decade. I do hear it gets much better, so I plan on going back to it, but... Yeah, my TECHNICAL first would be Blade. |
When I finally decided to start watching Kamen Rider, I had this weird thing where I thought I was gonna be all formal and watch the series that interested me in chronological order, so I started with Black. Boy am I glad I did.
The chronology thing went out the window when I started watching Fourze, though. Now, I'm all over the place. |
My first ever series was Dragon Knight, as I just happened to browsing channels and caught the first episode, which didn't catch my interest, then watched the first episode of Kabuto online, which I didn't really get into either(I don't know why, I went back and watched it and now I love Kabuto.), I gave Kamen Rider one more try and began watching Kuuga, which got me into the series, however for some time I stopped watching Kamen Rider all together, and never ended up finishing Kuuga, I plan to go back and finish at some point, I started watching Kamen Rider again soon after OOO started airing, which was the first series I finished.
