Your Overall assessment of Gobusters
Now that Gobusters is finished, I think it's time to get people's overall thoughts and rating of the series.
For me, I enjoyed Gobusters from beginning to the End. It had a lot of great moments and more then made up for some of Gokiager's short comings. Enter was a fantastic, and competent villain and it had some of the best mecha fights I've seen in a Sentai in a long while. Overall, Gobusters gets a 7.5/10 for me. It's not one of my favrioute buuut I'd definitely put it towards the bottom of a top 10 list. |
If Go-busters was trimmed down to a 24 ep series then it would have been great. As it stands there were so many episodes that were just boring an had no real effect on the overall plot. Also, Messiah was a complete waste of a villain. That being said, the mecha fighting was good and the ranger battles were amazing. Also, Enter and Escacpe were excellent villains.
Overall, the bad out weighted the good for me. I was more bored than engaged with the show and skiped though a bunch of the eps in order to get to the vastly superior Fourze. The last 10 eps though were very, very good. 5/10 |
I'll give it a solid 8.5/10
only because of the first half of the series, if i judged it from that part of the show, it would be a 4-5/10, but the last half of the series was SO DAMN GOOD, that it redeemded the entire show I'm so gonna miss it |
Here's the statement I made in the finale thread:

I give the series a 10/10 it was awesome the heroes were cool Enter was a great villain and the Buster Machines were so cool I loved the series lets hope Kyoryuger does a good job
|
It was an okay show. I'd give it maybe a 6 out of 10. It had some really great moments and fantastic mech scenes, but the pacing was abysmal and the characters mostly very flat.
|
I'd give it about an 8 out of 10. That's solely based on the very episodic first half of the show. If the first half had been better then I could see my self giving it a 10. In the end I loved this and it means alot to me. Especially after a brilliant finale like the one it had.
|
A very solid 8. It not for that middle portion where the plot didn't really advance I'd probably give it higher. Thankfully Enter and the outstanding mecha action was more than enough to carry it for me through that portion.
|
I give the overall series a 4.5 out of 10.
It has good ideas and I like the Buddyloids and Enter, but the whole spy thing got pushed to the side and we got a disjointed mess of a show. Three finales, the chicken weakness, and a cast that was mostly miss than hit with me killed the show for me. I fear the worst for the Kyoryuger. I don't care for dinos and I'd much rather they take some time off to do a Metal Heroes series again so they can do a good Sentai show again. |
I give it a 2/10.
There was no energy in the show, the rangers were bland and uninteresting, and they had little to no development. Messiah was a waste of a villain and Escape, who was a joke, as only there for fanservice. The commander and his two lackeys did absolutely nothing at all during the series but sit there. We know nothing about them, who they are, what their motivations were, anything. Not to mention the commander looked like he was falling asleep in almost every episode. The Buddyroids were just as bad, but they had the misfortune of being nothing more than annoyances than anything else. Except for Nick, they were useless and got in the way. The mech designs were pretty awful outside of Red's Buster machine and Lioh. Pus, the stacking was almost as bad as the stacking of mecha in Shinkenger. What is the point if they are going to make mecha that cannot even actually move outside of CGI? Enter is hands down the only thing this show had for it. It's like the writers had this idea for a show that would have made an excellent 13 episode series, but nothing beyond that, as they were really lacking in material all throughout the series. The ending was utterly rushed, as the final episode had no breathing room, poor editing, and the fastest final role call I have ever seen. Go-Busters will go down as one of the worst Sentai series I have ever seen, if not the worst. There were times when I should have just watched Goseiger. I might find that show boring too, but at least it has energy to it. |
Never seemed to have an idea of what it wanted to be, or couldn't be what it wanted (a dark "serious" sentai show--with lovable wacky robots!), kept ending prematurely (no one really ever seemed that sad about losing their parents, too. Seems a major miss), kept the focus on Messiah too long when Enter was the most entertaining villain, kept picking up and dropping plot threads and doing really wacky comedy that wasn't all that funny.
It got its act together at the end but . . .ehhh. I know following Gokaiger was no picnic, but that doesn't excuse them not trying, at least. On the plus side, "Busters Ready GO!" was a catchy tune, the crossover with Gavan was pretty rad,J was the only Buddyroid whose antics didn't grate, and when Enter stepped up, the show got a lot of energy back. 4/10 for me--Even when sentai is bad, it's pretty good, but Toei can do much, much, better than this. |
It made me cry at the end so it passes in my book
|
I missed most of the series, to be honest. I watched the first 3 episodes and only came back for the last 4, but that was because of Enter. As a villain, he was fantastic and his first "Let's....... Morphin'." was packed full of creepiness and awesomesauce. I think I didn't watch it for the same reasons I didn't watch RPM. The serious plot doesn't mesh well with the goofy looking mecha. Costumes were fantastic, the weapon/morpher announcer was a treat but I just didn't get invested in it.
Also, the first theme was far superior to the later one in my eyes. Kind of made me think of the team as Japanese Thunderbirds for some reason and that's pretty cool. |
For me personally it's the worst series I have watched. Saying that, I've only watched Goseiger and Gokaiger fully and I consider them equal with Go-Buster behind, but not by far.
It's not a truly terrible series, but its not great either. There's some awesome characters, mech and suit designs and some pretty neat ideas. It just gets bogged down with filler, bad pacing and plot holes. |
Go-Busters had things going against it. It came off what was a huge series, that set the bar way up there somewhere in Japan. They were trying something new in many different ways. And sometimes that doesn't work in the best of times. The show was slow to get going, more so than any Sentai series I can remember. But once it got going it was alright. The Mechs were a mess, but I've learned to love the mess. And it ended fairly strong.
|
Overall, I've really enjoyed Gobusters, especially the latter half. I thought it had a pretty good start; though it dragged on middle, but once it picked up its pace again, oh man was it amazing. Sure, it had several things working against (just coming off how huge Gokaiger was, some awful episodes, goofy ideas that didn't work etc.), but I really appreciate how it tried something new and different, and love it for it. Enter was a glorious villain, the latter half of the series was great and it finished off with a brillant finale. It's not perfect, but we already know what Gobusters said about perfection. A solid 8.5/10.
|
I can't really add much of anything that hasn't already been said but I will say this. I'm sad to see Gobusters go but I shall look forward to Kyoryuger.

5.5/10 for me.
They tried new things at first, and they had to, because it was quite a job to take over after the cool cross-over fiesta that was Gokaiger. Storywise, the plot was solid until Jin and J appeared, with a "realistic" side, and in the last part with the cards. Between this two parts, it was meh, Enter/Escape appeared for no reason than fight the Gobusters. I like how they answered "why don't the baddies send all their mechs at once ?": because Messiah is a dumbass. Enter was a great vilain, he managed to be competent and, step by step, put his plan in motion. And I mean a REAL plan, not like a stupid device to hypnotize all children in Tokyo and force them to die eating too much ramen. The vilain DID something, for once that was refreshing. Messiah was transparent. I think the show lacked another couple of evil generals (yes I waited for Control and Alt). Cross-over with Gavan type-G was fun (I'm a fan of Gavan and the space sheriffs trilogy). Mech fights were good, as the Gobusters fights. I didn't really like the cast, except J and he's a guy in a robot suit... |
I'd give it an 8/10. Even as someone who enjoyed every episode, even I admit the show had some slow parts. But it also gave up some of the best giant battles in the history of the franchise and one of the best villians ever. Those factors alone outweigh the negatives for me.
|
eh i'd give it a 4/10.the story was tryinig too hard and certain episodes were pretty dumb and boring. The mechas were interesting but majority it was red doing the mecha fighting the most.the characters were bleh kinda weak especially that they all had a weakness to them even their powered up version was pretty bland it just felt like they added armor on to them nothing else out of it.villians we just like a big they just come down here to fight nothing else. When beet & stag buster came it was abit interesting but still the series lacked a good follow up to an anniversary series
|
10/10 for me.
Yeah, it sagged in the middle, but the last third REALLY makes up for it. Enter is the best Sentai villain ever (Well, the best I've seen :lol) and Jin and J were just awesome. Dat ending. :( Easily my favourite Sentai right now, slightly edging out Gokaiger; though Jetman will probably dethrone it when I finish it. |
