Megaforce Episode 3: Going Viral!
Here it is, episode three! Discuss! (Or as I call it: Only two more episodes until Gosei Knight!)
|
"Sea Gosei Great ready!"
Card: "Seaick Gosei Great" Nope, still not diggin the original cards. :P |
It was a good episode for blue, now red, pink and yellow need a good one
|
I also didn't really like how the Zords just sorta came out of nowhere... Blue gets some development (which I missed most of because of a phone call >_<) and now has access to three more Zords? In the midst of battle? Oookay..
|
Hey, kids! Be like the Power Rangers! Bring weapons to school! :rolleyes
Good episode, but I'm starting to wonder why Jake is Black and not Red when he's obviously the male lead at this point. Also, the episode needed more Gia. I hope the ADR gets better, it really didn't work for me this week. |
I am loving Vrak (Brajira) and his voice. They got him exactly how I hoped they'd get him, and I couldn't be more pleased. With him and the whole cast. This season is turning out awesome. And this episode proves that. Though it's still weird seeing Black hit on Yellow. I know it's from Japan but I don't remember Agri and Moune gettin' in on some incest. Just sayin.
And stop nitpicking the cards. Seriously. It can easily be explained away as that's there name's in Gosei's original language. Same with the japanese written on them. Youre nitpicking a good series, knock it off. |
Wow, you couldn't even take one that was a joke?
If you're allowed to go crazy defending a series you like (which can also get annoying), then complaints should be allowed too. |

Second, they aren't the same characters, even if they do use some of the same footage. Try not to filter it through a Goseiger lens so much. |
Not as good as last week's episode, but still better than Samurai. The people getting turned into loogies was kinda gross. 4/5.

the japanese cards are still horribly annoying and not excusable. if you wanna say thats how itss written in goseis language then thats probably what the rangers should be saying. still a great episode and nice to feature blue.

Also, these are high schoolers. They have their own lives to focus on too. Jake, for example, is still trying to go out with Gia and he probably wouldn't care about what his Power Cards say since he's more interested in wooing her then reading those cards. And I'm sure resident geek Noah has College Prep homework. Emma would have a BMX race, Gia a karate tournament and Troy an hour of daily rooftop air-kicking and heroic speech writing. |

"And knowing is half the battle. The other half is running from the guy who brought the axe to school as fast as you can." |
Wow, this episode was pretty badly edited and I'm not talking about the cards (seriously, get over it people).
1) The quarantine part was so badly edited to the point that I couldn't tell what I was looking at. 2) There's a scene after the monster's defeat before the commercial breakyet when it comes back from the commercial they had just defeated the monster and then the monster grows. To quote Phelous "great ontinuity!" Thank god they didn't start with episode 3 like they did Samurai because this episode, while it has it's moments, was poorly made. |

It's nitpicky. Let's not let that detract from the show, hmm? |

There were a few writing missteps and one or two badly done voiceovers, but nothing major. Jake continues to be the best character in the show, he and Noah make an excellent pair that's a joy to watch.

I'm so slow--I just realised Gosei has the same voice as Koragg.
|
Gooby, please.
------------- I have yet to see it as I don't get Nick. :( But, I'll post a hypothesis to the aforementioned when I do. |
It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be, based on the previews for it + some of the reviews on here.
I did find the monster growing from their original fighting place awkward... but I don't think I would have noticed/remembered if people hadn't pointed it out on here. I was more concerned about the people who were freed from the giant concrete block without having pieces hurt them. When Noah is morphed, his suit is also a different color between America and Japan footage... but that also has to do with the film quality. All in all, it was a good episode. They also did a really good job of meshing the American and Japanese footage while fighting under the bridge. It was believeable that the lady Noah talked to / saved was the same lady as the one from the japanese footage when she is laying under the bridge. |
Other than that horrible bit of editing before the monster grew I have no complaints about the episode itself. I'm seriously finding it hard to care about Troy, but since I really like the other four its not becoming an issue that's severely affecting my enjoyment of the show yet.

Just saw it. Pretty decent episode, though I think Ep. 2 was better executed.
Andrew's ADR is still pretty meh. It's much better than Samurai's beginning though, and Samurai's ADR did pick up toward the end of the show. I was under the impression that morphing gave the user an enhanced strength, speed, agility, etc. I was somewhat surprised about the whole "Snake Axe" issue while Noah was morphed, and Emma's lack of being able to just leap onto the cargo box. Another gripe I had was modifying the Snake Axe itself. Why? How? Aren't these weapons magical? Granted by Gosei? Wouldn't they be relatively light as is? Or is it technological? If so, then perhaps Noah modified the programming on the card. Lastly, the monster blowing up and cutting back to the assembled Blaster (forgot the name) after Noah took the Axe and freed the civilians... I don't know. It's not logical. If the Rangers were standing there without the assembled blaster and Noah was holding the Axe, maybe. Not trying to nitpick here but it definitely doesn't make any sense. Also, I haven't seen much of Goseiger, but what I have seen, Hyde was something of a badass. I wonder how much footage was taken from Goseiger, because I don't see Hyde not being able to lift up the Snake Axe and Agri's Axe pinning Hyde to the ground... it's just seems too comical for Hyde. EDIT: I wanted to add that I like the double entendre the episode provided. Nice work Saban and Co. |
i thought the was a great episode :)
The way Noah got the sea brothers powers made me think of how the Gokaigers get their Ultimate powers, so this is too me is a great set up for season 2 when they're piloting the Gokai Galleon. Remember folks this is a kids show. You can pick on it all day but in the end you can either sit back and enjoy it or you change the channel. ;) |

Yeah, so far? This show is... Better than Samurai... But...
Honestly? It is falling a wee bit short. I just got done watching RPM, and honestly? That was a great show, but... I find myself comparing it to Megaforce. Honestly? It doesn't hold up at all. The editing is choppy and lackluster, which is almost a nod to MMPR, but even MMPR did it right... I hope this show gets better, because we are only three episodes in... But... The first episode sucked me in, the next two just plain sucked. ;( 2/10 |

I personally loved this episode. Absolutely loved it. Jake is stealing the show, and the fact that his crush on Gia seems to be a theme that continues just makes me laugh (in good ways). Troy's ADR was still kind of "eh", but it got better towards the end of the episode. At least he's delivering "IT'S MORPHIN' TIME!" with a little more punch.
Jake and Noah. They're going to go down as a great team like Dillon and Ziggy. I love those two and their interactions. 5/5 This is what Samurai should have been but failed. I can forgive some of the little things for sake of translation (Japanese cards, etc.) Also, was it just me or was there a lot of original footage for this episode shot? |

Oh I would have no qualms for this episode if not for the footage misstep in the monster becoming big. Anybody have a good "retcon" in fixing that discrepancy?

But, some of us? Are allowed to have negative opinions of it. |

It's time to take off the rose colored glasses I think. |

This has been my favorite episode so far. The first episode just seemed like a bunch of fan service and toy promos, while the second was a little too typical in terms of plot and stuff. Going Viral just seemed to have a lot more originality to it.
In the first couple episodes, the characters just seemed super shallow and cliché. You had the nerd, the jock, the pretty girl, etc. But despite a cast of characters that I was sure would be dull as heck, they managed to build a really great episode around Jake and Noah. I was impressed by that. Also, I know that since Power Rangers is more of a kids show than Super Sentai, they tend to nerf any kind of romance at all. Jake's constant flirting seems like a major departure from that, so that's refreshing too. Personally I think this episode was a step in the right direction after a lackluster start. |
So far I'm just not feeling it. It's not that the show has any really specific things that bother me (other than pronouncing Tensou: "tensu" that is) I just haven't gotten into it. Unlike the majority of folks posting here, so far I would say I liked Samurai better. Part of it could be the Sentai source material, because in my opinion, Goseiger wasn't bad but it was kind of "meh." I am looking forward to Robo Knight and hope that he is as bad ass as Gosei Knight was. We'll see...
