Nostalgia is go!

It'll be distributed by Bluefin as well. It looks like pretty much the entire monsterarts line, exclusive or not, will be sold in the US also.
|
This will be awfully tempting since Showa is what I grew up on (as I imagine is the case for many). I've been pretty satisfied with the Heisei and Burning versions in the MonsterArts line so I didn't feel the "need" for owning another Godzilla...but yeah, I think this may be the exception.
I do wish this thing would come with an effect part though, especially given its price (even if its an exclusive). |
Interesting that the title card has the Godzilla vs Mothra movie logo in it. Does this mean she isn't far behind?
|
That figure has more range of motion than the dude in the costume ever did.
|
I would be so tempted to make this my first Monsterart if it wasn't an exclusive :( I wish Amazon had better international shipping rates otherwise I would jump on the Bluefin release.
Oh well, my plate is full enough for July anyway. |
Now that is what I'm taking about! That's my Godzilla. The goofy ass superhero that children loved

The next film (Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster) is where he makes his turn to the side of the angels. Admittedly it is the same suit for the most part, but this toy captures the original Goji's last outing as a heavy. Anyway, this is a no brainer, must buy for me. Of this there is no question. Godzilla has always been my biggest fandom since I was 4 years old, and this suit is iconic and legendary in the history of daikaiju. |

Godzilla was created by the atomic bomb, and thus, is just a walking a-bomb with no remorse for life. |

Gamera vs Gyaos cements Gamera's role as "friend to children everywhere," but like Goji he started out as a heavy. |

Anyway, the same would be true for Godzilla. His depiction of a hero clicked with the world at large and made him the long running star that he is. Daikaiju are like the gods of Greek myth -- fickle. They can change their moods for reasons we humans cannot truly understand. One day they might be our doom, the next day our salvation. Just how they roll. :D (Of course someare just plain mean...) |

So, what's the over-under on Mothra being the next Showa era Monsterarts toy? |

While reading this conversation has been informative. I will still always prefer my Godzilla as a hero.
Not that I don't enjoy him in full on rage beast mode. I understand those are his true origins. As for Mothra! Yes please. The more Showa the better. |
This is going to be a must buy for me. I really hope that Mothra is on the horizon.
|
Oh how temptation is building up in me, especially considering it's the Showa era I've watched the most movies from. Something tells me this may possibly end up rampaging through my wallet and into my collection.
|
I wonder if we have not see a Mothra yet because she can't "stand"? Even Rodan can be stood up to display, whereas Mothra sort of needs a flying stand for display. The only times we really see the imago Mothra on the ground is when she is being worshipped on Infant Island. Well, that, and when she dies...
A Showa Mothra figure to go with this Goji also makes itself readily obvious for an accessory set with the egg and the incubator piece. The difference between a Showa and Hesai imago Mothra is going to be minimal, really. Just coloring, and even then it's not much. At least, in so far as Mothra from Godzilla vs Mothra '92. The solo film Mothras are a lot more varied. |
This one is a must-buy for me, but the apparent lack of any accessories is a little disappointing.
|
That monster is a beauty! YES! I cant wait for the SHOWA series, and my favorite, the Millenium series!
|
I'm honestly shocked with how much I'm into this, considering I'm usually more into the Heisei and later designs, but that figure is gorgeous.

I know MonsterArts has its own established appearance for the packaging (and I like them very much), but whenever they get around to making the larvae, I'd love it if the box resembled the egg. |
This is a MUST HAVE! Love classic/Showa Godzilla and the Mosugoji suit is probably my favorite.
