Akibaranger Season 2 Event News Roundup
 

The official press conference for Akibaranger season 2 has just happened in Japan and thanks to both Tokunation member DrillBIT and DecaEnd of Henshin Justice Unlimited we bring you a full run down of what was revealed!

It’s been roughly 9 months since season one. Akagi is back to his old habits, spending his days working as deliveryman with no joy. One day he walks past a shop specializing in Sentai toys. He enters and sees that the MMZ-01 is being sold as an official toy called the DX AkibaLaser! Did the Akibarangers turn into official heroes without knowing it themselves? What could this possibly mean? Could something have happened to the real official heroes!?

Meanwhile, Luna Iwashimizu, a schoolgirl who hopes to become an idol has been appointed as the new Akiba Blue, as Mitsuki has left to pursue her martial arts training. Yumeria returns as Akiba Yellow, but no longer works as a business woman.

The new villain this time is General Two (played by Ryo Horikawa), who leads the “New Dimensional Intellect Remodeling Underground True Empire of Baros lol” (新次元頭脳改造地下真帝国バロスｗ, baros and ‘w’ are both very similar to the English lol). The name is a combination of the villain organizations from Bioman, Jetman, Flashman, Maskman and Dynaman.

General Two is middle-aged Sentai villain fanboy. His favourite is General Kar from Dynaman, basing both his name and suit on him. He creates figures of monsters and sends the into Delusion World. Malshina seems to have joined the True Empire of Baros lol, and uses a Moya Moya Z-Cune.

Some further tidbits from the conference include:

• For some reason Nobuo can’t transform with the regular MMZ-01
• A Machine Itassher toy was in the cafe.
• The weapons Akibaranger’s used have been made into toys, DX AkibaLaser (MMZ-01) and DX MeteorCannon (Inordinate Cannon).
• The new Blue, Luna Iwashimizu, was cosplaying as Akiba Blue.
• Malshina was shown taking a bath as someone calls her through a device that looks very similar to the MMZ-01.
• She says Evil Delusion (jamousou) and transforms. But all it does is add a helmet and changes her clothes.
• Some old monsters from season one are back.
• Yu Kamio (Kiyoto Maki/Dinosaur Greeed) will be in season two.
• Some past rangers that were shown: Tyranno Ranger, Blue Swallow, Deka Yellow, Bouken Pink, Black Condor, Dragon Ranger and Kibaranger.

The new opening theme is named “Akibaranger Season Two” and is sung by Haruko Momoi, Yukio Yamagata and MoJo.

What a random selection of previous ranger appearances. But if it gets me more figuarts, then more power to them.

And who said I was crazy for suggesting the Tyranno and Dragon Ranger Figuarts would coincide with Akibaranger? :lol Might want to cancel those pre-orders, if you care about bonus accessories.

I wonder if Blue Swallow and Bouken Pink means that they'll finally release the rest of those teams? I think we can at least be 100% sure that Kibaranger will be getting a US release.

Way to jump the gun. We have no idea if they'll be including bonus Akiba parts. Besides, the more people who support the US releases, the better...

And I only called it about 1000 times that the Zyurangers would have Akiba parts :D And Im ALWAYS ready for more Jetman and Boukenger figures!

I didn't mean to imply that they definitely would, but I think there's a high probability. Tie-ins probably help the sales considerably, especially when we're getting four figures in a single month.

Sorry to say, but I don't care. Importing from the US only ends up being more expensive. I'm sure the US releases are going to be popular though, especially for those who don't care about Sentai/Akibaranger.

Yeah sorry, but if the Tyranno Ranger and Dragon Ranger are going to appear in S2, then the probability that they may come with something Akiba-related just increased.

I'd rather wait to see if they do come with something instead of locking myself on the US releases.

Oh I totally agreed that they'd show up in Akibaranger. (I think the reasoning may be switched though - justify their released in Japan by having them show up there, rather than be US exclusives AKA web exclusives.)

And I don't care about bonus Akiba accessories, so I'd like the US versions.

But, to neuter them... that still rubs me wrong too. :/

Not really surprised that the Zyurangers would be in Akibaranger, but I'm all for it! :D

As for the Potential for the Akiba release packed in with the Zyurangers. I could care less, if Japan gets them first then I'm buying the Japanese version.

Them coming with Akibaranger parts will be the deciding factor in me getting them earlier. I would have waited for the Bluefin release to get them at a discounted price through work. But I've learned better after the Red Hawk debacle not to blindly rely on that. And it saves me from owning those atrocious boxes the US release will come in.


EDIT: Anyone else notice the epic play on words that will ensue if Kibaranger is in the show. Akibaranger. A Kibaranger? I can see the argument between Nobuo and the newbie now :lol

I was gonna double dip on them anyways and this seems like the perfect excuse to get both Japanese and US releases. :lol

I also love the villian, I forget her name, transformers and all that happens is she gets a helmet and a little more naked :lol

If the Japanese version comes with parts for Akibaranger then I'm definitely in, but I'd probably also keep the US Preorder so I can make a Dragon Shield TyrannoRanger.

I see Hurricangers and Magirangers on the poster, wonder if that's any indication of new figuarts/akiba powers, as well as the Zyu guys and Kiba?

And the MagiLamp is pretty prominent... Maybe Magishine will be coming out first.. What if the powers are all given by sixth rangers instead of reds? Maybe I'm reading to much into it? Either way I want a Magishine figuart =p

I was going to get that Legacy Megazord. But I think instead I'll get the Akiba Versions of Drago and Tyranno as well as the US one.

KibaRanger and Blue Swallow? Does that mean we will be getting Figuarts of them (and BoukenPink)?

Seeing as they released everything from season 1? The possibility's pretty high.

That and they showed a Boukenpink in the Akiba Showroom last year I'm sure.

It's be nice if they did a NinjaMan Figuart to honor his voice actor being in AkibaRanger.

With Tyranoranger, Dragonranger, and Kibaranger showing up, they have to stick in some kind of amusing MMPR reference somewhere.

I'd have two Tyranorangers, Dragonrangers, and Kibarangers show up all at the same time. Have Nobuo get super dorky, and give a ridiculously long explanation about how they're all technically different characters.

Shouldn't get too excited about other rangers.
Two Shougun sends kaijin figures to fight Akibarangers.
Nobuo may also use super sentai figures to counter the attack.
We may see suits, but they may ended up act like a drone.
Feels like playing card games on tv.
