Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger vs Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Season 1)
 

This is the start of a couple of...lets call em' surveys, seeing what the general consensus is when comparing Sentai to Power Rangers.


First, we begin with the 16th installment in the Super sentai series, "Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger", vs the show that basically popularized Tokusatsu in America, "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers".

Zyuranger
"Bandora the witch started a war on the dinosaurs due to the death of her son. After she caused much devastation, the Guardian Beasts sealed her and her minions on the planet Nemesis. Five members of each of the ancient human tribes were cryogenically frozen to combat the witch when she escaped from her imprisonment."

MMPR (Season 1)
"When sorceress Rita Repulsa was released from her prison, Zordon had to take action and form the Power Rangers. Five high school students begin the legacy by using Power Coins to transform and ward off evil space aliens with their Dinozords."

Personally, my bets are on Mighty Morphin to take this due to the Nostalgia factor & that i've also heard that Zyuranger isn't one of the most beloved Sentai series.

I have to watch Zyuranger to vote in this poll... anyone know where I can get the entire series?

there was a sub group that subbed the "meat" of the story, subbing just the main parts, but that was a long time ago...doubt those can be found anymore.

I voted for MMPR since I have never seen Zyuranger :(

thats gonna be difficult for alot of us though as Zyuranger just doesnt exist fully subbed

like everyone else so far I havnt seen Zyuranger either

ZyuRanger, obviously. It may have the Bad Acting Kid of the Week going on in it, but the Dragon Ranger story arc, his death stuff, and the final arc more than make up for it.

"A decent amount of knowledge" of Zyuranger includes seeing at least part of the Dragon Ranger arc...which isn't subbed. Instead of asking a question most people on the board can't answer honestly, why don't you ask a fair question? Don't misunderstand, it's a good question, just not a fair one in this forum.

Example: Any Series from Dekaranger onward has complete subs, so something like Gekiranger vs Jungle Fury would be a fair question. Heck, if you want something fun Dairanger vs MMPR Season 2. Though hard to compare, the info to make the comparison is all there.

Yeah, maybe i overestimated the amount of people who've seen ZyuRanger, but i'm sure i'll get better results once i put up the "Dairanger vs MMPR (Season 2)" thread.

Oh definitely. Now that 2 sub groups have completed that series that discussion will go pretty far. But you're gonna run into another problem once you try and do season 3 versus Kakuranger. I think there may be even less of it subbed than there are episodes of Zyuranger out there :lol

OK, for future reference, which Sentai series have little chance of people knowing anything about?

Well we've got a little list of all the series that have subs in one form or another. But like has been said before, most things pre-Dekaranger don't have full series subs (except Dairanger). Where to Find Your Fansubs!

And it's not really a matter of people not knowing anything about these series. There's a massive lack of available subs for older sentais. There just aren't many sub groups out there filling in the holes of the franchise. Aside form the occasional group like Harorangers, who are doing Carragner and Hurricanger. However these groups that tackle older shows are few and far between, and do so at a much slower pace than the big 2 of TVN and OT.

Liveman is fully subbed as well

I have to wonder the complete Liveman series is to download now though, it was finished just before all the DDL sites went down (and I'm not sure the links have been replaced) and I don't think a batch torrent was ever made, so unless the single episode ones are still working reasonably well it could take a while to download.

Gaoranger is completely subbed too by GaoSoul (who are 5 eps from finished Sun Vulcan too).
