Recommend me a Kamen Rider series
I've only ever watched Fourze. (guilty look)
What I like: - Multiple characters (so more than just one Rider preferably) - Awesome action scenes (acrobatic martial arts are awesome) - A darker tone ("darker" being a more serious, less campy) So what do you recommend I watch and why? |
With that description, I honestly recommend Kamen Rider Blade and Kamen Rider Ryuki~
However, a lot of people don't really like Blade, and he happens to be a GREAT Rider, imo. |
Agito sounds like it would a perfect series for you to watch.
|
Nah, throw caution (and common sense) to the wind and go with Decade. You get Tons of Riders, cameos everywhere, and just alot of fun and action. Even if the story gets a bit, iffy in some spots, it's still a fun ride.

W/Double. kickass story, more than 1 Rider, great action scenes. and I guarantee ithe ending will bring a tear to youre eye
youd probably like KR Black as well |
The only thing that stops me from recommending Double there would be the "Darker tone" part.
Though it's far and away less campy than Fourze, Double does have its fair share of camp. However, it does have plenty of darker and more serious moments, too. It sort of tows the line between the two, and I've always thought it did it rather well. At the very least, Double should be added into your queue to watch at SOME point or another, even if it's not your next one. |
I'm still going to absolutely say Agito because it hits every part of your checklist, buuuuuut temper that with a side of Double. It's awesome despite not being #1.
|
Everyone keeps saying Agito, so I'm tempted ... it's just a matter of finding the fansub links for it.
|
I think the only reason I HAVEN'T seen Agito yet, myself, is that I haven't yet seen a fully satisfactory version of it for the ENTIRE series.
Though I hear it's great. I know, at least, it has one of the best insert songs of any Rider series I've ever heard. |

I'm gonna throw in a vote for Kabuto. Dark series, not a typical main rider, tons of riders in the show. By far my favorite suit gimmick. Only thing is the sorta lackluster ending, but behind W, it's my favorite series

Have to second everyone that said Agito. Hits everything your looking for.
|
I'm starting to think I should watch more Agito.
|
Agito, Blade, and I'd even throw in Faiz and Kabuto to that.
Give Double about a 10 episode chance. If you not hooked by when Accel appears then it's probably not going to be your thing. |
Kiva is a great show. I started off hating it & then about half way through, I really started to enjoy it. Once I got my head wrapped around the "time flipping".
Wataru takes a bit of getting use to, but the stories lines with Otoya, Jiro & Queen were awesome. It also helps, that I was in love with Kiva's suit design's before I had even watched it. Kiva needs more love! I think it's an underrated show. |

I would definitely agree with Blade and Agito, though, they're definitely two of the best Heisei series if you want something serious and dark. |
watch out for the first half of Blade though
and I agree Faiz tried way too hard to be some super serious show, and everyone is super emo because of it. I wouldnt recommend it at all |
Ryuki
Blade Kabuto |
For what it's worth, my top 5 Rider shows:
1. Double/W 2. Kabuto 3. Den-O 4. OOO 5. Blade |
Basically, stay away from Den-O and I guess Kuuga because he's lonely, and you'll be fine.
I don't really get why people tend to worry about what Rider show they should watch so much, if you find one to suck more then another, you're probably expecting it to be something it's not. |

Blade would be my 2nd choice. I found it to be a flawless series, especially towards the end. 3rd would be Agito, JUST WATCH IT. You will not be disappointed :) And if you like drama, then Faiz. Every one just has issues in that series. I like to call that show "EMO Rider Faiz" lol! I wouldn't recommend watching Decade, it'll give you the wrong impression of the various Rider series and not to mention that they don't answer ANY of the questions that the show's theme is based on sooooo. And if you like clowns then watch Den-O :/ If you want a good impression of the Rider Universe, don't start off with anything after Hibiki. Kabuto is cool, but may leave you disappointed and Hibiki (my favorite) is an acquired taste ;) |
I still don't really understand the hate for the Den-O movies. I know people think it's gotten ridculous and out of hand with how many htere are but I still enjoy them. Most people either love the series and hate the movies or enjoy the movies that crossover with their preferred series and don't actually enjoy Den-O the series.
Obviously I've always loved it and the rumor that another Den-O movie is on the way excites me quite a bit. If you like Den-O the series then you HAVE to watch the first movies considering it contains a significant part of the shows plot and directly results in the birth of Climax Form. And the Saraba film is easily one of the best Rider movies I've seen on the last 5 years. |
I've seen a nice chunk of Den-O and the movies. New Den-O "was" cool, but it's just too much going on, and the fact that the actors keep changing killed it for me much like Decade.
|
Den-o Seriously most fun rider show ive seen..... and this is coming from an addict to the show....... Fun Characters, Cool monster designs and the freaking taros
