How Saban Could've, and Should've Introduced Gosei Knight
 

When Zordon first entrusted Gosei with the protection of Earth, Gosei attempted constructing his own Ranger. Worried about putting the lives of ordinary teenagers in danger. Choosing the Lion Headder Gosei infused it with the Lifeforce of the Earth itself. Incredably creating the first sentiant Headder Zord. The Knight of Gosei, Gosei Knight.
But he confused his orders. Instead of protecting the Earth he focused on how Humans were the cause of the World's Pollution and began destroying Human settlements. Gosei did what was needed and banished Gosei Knight to the Arctic to remain forever.
But then the Mutants arose. The Rangers were in need of a greater power. Knowing there was but one choice Gosei bid Tensou to awaken Gosei Knight again and help the Rangers.

"I am the Knight of Gosei. Protector of the World of which we Live, Defender of the Enviroment, I am... Gosei Knight!"

Beating the Mutants, destroying Hisser, the Rangers catch up with Gosei Knight. Asking about him, asking him to join them. But his only answer is "I do not help Humans. Human Pollution created the Mutants and feeds their power. You to are my enemy." And walks off.

It changes his story from Goseiger, keeps him the badass he was meant to be, and doesn't make me so angry my eyes bleed. Everybody wins!

That's a really good story as it not only keeps the elements that are what people love about Gosei Knight there's enough new stuff that makes Robo Knight his own character as well.

Pity Saban doesn't care about that sort of thing. He really doesn't want to lose his cash cow again so he's rehashing MMPR Levels of story telling in the vain hope of getting more money, at the cost of upsetting adult fans that grew to love deeper story telling.

I pray that this "Power Rider" is just a new vehicle and not a chance for him to taint Fourze or any other Rider.

… So you think a genocidal past is better than the Robo Knight we got? The one who, need I remind you, only appeared for a few minutes in one episode and has yet to develop as a character?

Please, Sentai, I beg of you: give Robo Knight time. He may not give you a great first impression, but first impressions are overrated anyway. He can change; he will develop. Give him a chance, for GoseiKnight's sake! I've even agreed to watch Tensou Sentai Goseiger.

I appreciate that. And I am giving him a chance, my hopes and expectations are just really low.

Also we tai don't forget that hole mini arc they did to get gosei knight to be part of goseiger will be used as getting memory backs also the footage they use will be his bad ass footage

I don't see what's wrong with Robo Knight.
Yeah, he's pretty hamfisted and annoying "I MUST PROTECT DA ENVIRONMENT!" but I don't see anything wrong with the character.
Honestly, the issues stem back to Megaforce, trying so hard to be MMPR, disregarding that it's not the 90's (Basically, praying that kids don't notice how terrible it is and that adults are wearing their nostalgia glasses).

But, as a character, Robo Knight is decent. You can even see glimpses of a possible darker story; having a damaged memory, his extreme want to protect the environment, and his strength to do so. Granted, knowing how Saban is handling Megaforce, it probably won't accumulate to much, but who knows. It's still the same Saban who gave us In Space and was willing to actually kill Kendrix instead of just putting her on a bus, so I'll keep my hopes up.

I like how they've introduced Robo Knight. For those that wanted him, and Megaforce in-general, to be exactly like Gosaiger, you've still got Gosaiger to watch. As for acting in Megaforce being "bad" like back in MMPR, from what I've seen of the Power Ranger shows since MMPR...how is this at all a step backwards? Granted I haven't seen the majority of PR shows they've done, but still, none of them were much, if any, better than MMPR was acting-wise. Quite honestly, what I saw of Samurai was worse than MMPR was.

I will admit that, one of the things that I really enjoy about Megaforce is the MMPR nostalgia it brings to the table. Doesn't affect my view of the acting, which while not great, is good...for a Power Rangers show.

Anyways, back to Robo Knight. I honestly don't understand the rage some have over him. Most especially since we've just been introduced to him, and barely so at that.

The problem is that it shouldn't just be "Good for a Power Rangers show."
We should ask for and expect to see "Good" just flat out.

Iron Man and The Dark Knight are good movies. Not just "Good for a comic book movie" but good movies in general.
As an audience, we shouldn't just lower our standards for a show because of the preconceived notion of "It's Power Rangers. It's SUPPOSED to be like that."

Bingo. And this is the all powerful 20th Anniversary season, so trying would've been appreciated.

But really, I am going to give RK a chance, does anyone remember (insert boring intro but turned out to be awesome character) [damn my blank mind :lol] They turned out all right.

Oh the show is directed at kids? I'm shocked.

Saban gave up on Power Rangers after "Lost Galaxy". The show began to lose its audience (again, for the 3rd time), and he was actively shopping the network but apparently wanted a giant price. That said, the show was basically given to Tzachor to handle and the show didn't run off the usual "CORPORATE SAYS" BS that you see these days. The writers had more freedom, the budget was more flexible, etc.

Now the entire idea is "take the Japanese show, translate it following footage, and release it, and stay within budget". Saban makes boatloads of cash off Power Rangers and with it is able to do things like Digimon Fusion, etc.

Time Force had amazing acting, other series like SPD, Mystic Force and even Dino Thunder (ironically except for JDF, who still sucked pretty damn hard and no amount of worshippers will ever change that fact) also had pretty good acting. Samurai, Megaforce and MMPR are towards the lower end acting-wise when it comes to Power Rangers.
You can say its not a step backwards when you admit to not having seen the majority of the PR shows. You can't compare the acting of what you haven't seen, so your opinion can't truly be relevant.

It's a shame, really- just before Saban buys back Power Rangers, RPM blesses our fandom. Say what you will about the other Disney Era shows, but RPM notched up the quality. Superb acting, excellent storytelling, minimal flaws (I could only find two, three if you count the crossover I shall not name), and, greatest of all, this line:

Well, she was put on a bus and then the bus came back due to Valerie Vernon developing leukemia (and making a full recovery:)) but what would really test Saban's guts to treat kids with the dignity that can handle life's harsh truths and acknowledge the adult fans who know this, would be to say that since their actors died, so did the characters of Trini and Udonna, and the characters reflecting this. Sort of like the old episode of Sesame Street that dealt with the death of Will Lee, Mr. Hooper's actor.

I know why Kendrix had to leave, but the fact was that she didn't leave because of a reason like:
"We need to send someone back to the main Earth for a peace conference. Kendrix, sorry, but you gotta go."
And just straight up killed her.
I want to see if Saban is still willing to treat their audience with any form of respect.

The "audience" is children. I'm pretty sure that as long as they can watch their heroes transform, fight badguys, and ride in zords they can play with at home, they'll be happy.

Batman The Animated Series should've just been an animated 60's Batman and Batman and Robin is the best of the Batman movies.

I think you're insulting the inteligence of children. The target audiance for Power Rangers is a little smarter than "OMG BRIGHT SHINEY CHANGES BAM BAM POW!"

I think as a father of a six year old boy, I'm pretty keen on the subject.

I think a lot of the fans just grew up and expected Power Rangers to do the same. Honestly, it's a new time period now. We're all able to get on the good ol' internets and voice our opinions, when as children, we couldn't. The issue with that is, you're not going to please everyone. I see some of the ideas on "what Saban should do with XYZ season" or "XYZ storyline/plothole" and not all of them are great.

I'm not saying we should shelve our brains here or stop discussion either. But I will say my son does shelve his own while watching. He wants to act out zord battles while they happen, and play with the figures. During Super Samurai, he's even said to me "call me when they morph" because he didn't care about the storyline.

It's also a reason why there's never any civilian toys either. No kid would want to play with them.

It's not about intelligence, it's about kids using their own imagination and coming up with the stories they want to. When I was younger, my much younger sister watched cartoons and would play with her Barbie dolls. Guess the repeating plotline that occured at Barbie's house?
