Another tournament poll idea - feedback requested
 

So this idea popped into my head today while watching the latest HoPR. I, and I know several others, are having fun with some of these poll tournament things, like KamenRiderOOO's Rider of the Year or Sentai's PR theme songs. Now my idea is this: a series of contests to basically elect the best Power Ranger of each color - Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Grack/Bleen, and 6th - the ultimate goal being to create the most awesome PR team ever. There will probably be more flavor text than that. Anyway, before I do this I want to ask a couple questions:

First and foremost, does anyone actually want to do this or do we have enough of these things already?

If so, I'm split on starting with Red or leaving it for second-to-last. Thoughts?

I'm thinking only including a character in separate polls if they significantly changed color (basically Rocky, Tommy, Jason, and TJ). But I'm disinclined to include Sky or Bridge as Reds. Any objections?

I'm thinking RJ and Dominic would be in the 6th pool, but what about Hunter and Blake? Red and Blue or 6ths? And Udonna, White Ranger or 6th?

What about all of SPD's one-shot Rangers like Cat or A-Squad?

So yeah. Any feedback?

I think it could work, though I'm not sure if it would be better to divide it by colors entirely or to just make "sixth" it's own section.

Anyway, do you intend on including an "Extra" slot for characters like the Phantom Ranger or Koragg/Wolf Warrior?

I'll support this. I'd say start with Red and end with the Sixth Rangers/Extra Heroes. I'd count Tommy as a Sixth Ranger, and Jason as a Red Ranger.

If you wanna do it, I say go for it. You just got a lot of research ahead of you, and a lot of poll making :lol. However, that may interfere with Episode Discussion Polls for Kyoryuger, Wizard and Megaforce (which are required now for their threads), but it's up to you. Kinda why I'm trying my hardest to separate the battles and not close them immediately like I did last year.

Phantom Ranger's usually counted as Turbo's 6th, so that's where I'd put him. Koragg I was going to leave out since he's only a hero for a couple of episodes and his design is only slightly Ranger-y (see also Blue Centurion, Jarrod, and Camille).

I was totally going to do a one-off comedic sidekick poll, though.

I was thinking of following your lead of 48-hour polls. And I imagine I'll give us all some downtime between colors.

The biggest thing is randomness.It would be unfair to pair them up and have a really good red ranger face off against a really bad one just due to "They're the leftovers".I'd rather have it be up to chance.So if there's 20 red rangers,number them one through 20,then random draw.That way noone can have complaints.Also what about powers? Do they use them all or just their regular skills? I wouldn't mind making a forum post for a color if you need help,just let me know which color you want me to do.

Also wondering,should it go by color,or roll call number? Just because of the 3 ranger teams,cause we know most 3 ranger teams end up with 6,heck they all do.lol

Other then those questions,I think it would be awesome.Let's decide the best ranger team combination! But how about as the grand finale,we decide the best ranger team as a whole once its said and done?

So, how are you going to match them up? Random? Common theme/design? What?

Random draw is a given. And I'm leaning towards letting all the Rangers go all-out: Lights of Orion, SWAT Mode, etc. All-out brawls, no handicapping.

And I'm going by color. The idea is to end up with a team of six: Red, Grack, Blue, Yellow, Pink (or maybe White), and 6th.

What about teams like Ninja Storm,or Dino thunder?

I'm just going to count Blake and Hunter as Red and Blue. I am conflicted about what to do with DT Tommy or RJ, though - I may just make it easy on myself and go with the Gokaiger classifications. The idea of Dominic being in the Pink pool is amusing...

Or you could classify them all as Sixth Rangers.
