Presenting - Ultraman Ginga!
3 Attachment(s)
After weeks of speculation and rumors, Tsubuyara has revealed the new hero to celebrate their 50th anniversary!
This is Ultraman Ginga and his televised adventures will begin July 10th |
Do groups ever sub Ultraman shows? I've kind of wanted to try the franchise out considering it's toku and all.
|
HOT DAMN! A new Ultra series! I don't care if it is subbed or not, if I have to watch it old school raw style, its a NEW ULTRA SERIES! YEAH!

I would highly recomend Nexus, it's darker than your standard Ultraman show (from what little I've seen) but it's a fun emotional ride. Anyway, I like this new design. They are trying to something different and it really make's this look stand out from past Ultramen. |
Really like his design. It's simple but very effective.

I think it's not a full-fledged series but a number of shorts.
|
Haven't watched Ultraman since I was a kid. That design is just amazing and definitely my favorite Ultraman already.

Ultraman has always been waaaay too childish for me, I can stand Sentai and Kamen Rider but Ultra is just too much

Not sure how the story will play out for me personally, but the backstory is already quite compelling, and making sofubi into the gimmick henshin collectibles couldn't be better suited to my tastes. I'll gladly hand Bandai my wallet on this one. |

Yeah, I noticed that immediately because I have that Red King vinyl in my Warehouse at HLJ... and there he is on the promo image! The idea of it being all of the Ultra Heroes AND the Ultra Kaiju that get turned into dolls also suggests that it will blend the "heroic monster" concept from Ultraseven (capsule monsters) and Ultra Galaxy into the traditional Ultra versus Monster battles. |

The best part is that Takaya would totally do that, too. |

I'm not sure about the design. It looks good in that first shot, but with all the glowing bits it just looks tacky. :/ Still, if someone is willing to sub this show for real, I would be willing to get into it. |
This sounds like the most accessible Ultra series I've heard of in some time. It looks really fun, the design is executed very well, and the younger cast makes it a bit more appealing for me too. Really excited. Just wish the major sub groups would pick up Ultra stuff more often :(
EDIT: Have I mentioned that this is totally the Ultra attempt at the Decade/Goakiger formula? Being able to turn into previous characters using a henshin device. |

All Ultramen look the same to me. I think I might be racist...

This is what I love about tokusatsu.Sure Kamen Rider and Super Sentai are the spotlight most of the time, but if you start getting bored with them you have Ultraman,Garo, etc. to fall back on,and their all good.So cool to see a new Ultraman seeing as how I just started exploring the Ultraman series.
|
Honestly, I don't know as much about Ultraman as I'd like. But he does look awesome. Just.. Am I wrong or do Ultramen all look about the same except for a few minor changes? The only one that looked different, I can remember, was Gridman.

I've never gotten into Ultraman but I love this new design. The lighted blue highlights really make the character pop, and the series sounds fun. The younger cast does give the series more of a forward-looking feel and it's something that's been working for Sentai and Kamen Rider for years.
Are the dolls supposed to be a henshin item along the lines of Decade's cards and Gokaiger's keys? Sounds fun and collectible. Oh God, here we go again... |
Yeah, there is something brilliant about the way Ultraman Ginga pulls a Decade or Gokaiger by also using a collectible gimmick - except the gimmick is vinyl figures! Being so cheap, and yet more plentiful and aesthetically more interesting than a pile of switches or gaudy rings, these things are going to be fantastic.
Starting the new series on Ultraman Day is a nice touch too (others probably did it as well, haven't checked, but it's an especially important detail for an "anniversary" show!). |

The thing about the Ultra Heroes is that when you put them all together, yeah, they all have the same basic color scheme of silver and red, and then some of them have blue in there as well.
But if you watch the different series and movies, you learn very quickly to tell them apart. It's no different than a daikaiju fan being able to identify a Godzilla suit by sight. There's no way to mistake, say, Ultraman and Ultraseven, or Ultraseven and Ultraman Leo. At least that's how it is personally. |
