Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Red Division Round 1
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

We're going to start with arguably the most important decision, who's going to be our team's leader, the Red Ranger? Our very first match up pits cutting edge robotics up against the noble lineage of the Caucasian samurai:

Jayden.
He may be a horrible actor, but he's a damn fine swordsman. He can remain calm in the heat of battle, has fine judgment, and is perceptive to his opponents.
His various discs can help him overwhelm Mack should it turn into a straight up power contest, and the Fire Smasher can overheat those circuits easy.

I'm doing all of the Reds, random draw for each match-up. You can blame my random number generator for starting with these two. :p

That said, I actually quite liked Mack. He was easily the best character on his season (not saying much, I know). I always thought he had one of the better Battlizers, too.

Mack wins because his hard drive was transferred into a T-1000, and he walks through Jayden. Literally. That is how I'm doing this. Random non-sequiturs (for match ups like these) that have negative continuity in future rounds.
Also, Mack at least pilots a Zord that became fully functioning legs on the toys, terrible as they were.

At least it's beginning with the weak ones, rather than starting with a pretty heavy match of, say, Tommy vs. Andros.

Yea, Mack had a some what interesting revealed to him. I only had hope that he stayed a 'bot.

I'm saying Mack just to represent Boukenger...not OO.lol.Also if he gets decapitated,he could still bite him.:P

It's funny cause these are probably the weakest red rangers,yet will be one of the closest battles during the tourney.lol

In terms of popularity yeah, but I wouldn't call Jayden weak in terms of skill.

I absolutely hated Operation Overdrive. The show was an abomination, the absolute worst thing that Power Rangers under Disney had ever done. Even worse than Ninja Storm. And then Saban took Rangers back. And somehow, someway, managed topping this by giving his Jayden Shiba. Say what you want about Mack but atleast he could freaking fight. And act his way out of a paperbag. ... Not much further out of the bag, but he could see daylight.

In terms of Characters. Of fighting skill. I just see Mack winning this.

I'm seriously questioning the people saying Jayden can't fight here. Yes he has no personality, yes he had a horrible actor, but other than that he was an American Takeru Shiba, and Takeru Shiba is probably one of the most skilled Sentai Reds there are.

Jayden is a skilled swordsman, a natural born leader and has plenty of power ups at his disposable. Mack's only real asset is his battlizer, otherwise he than that all he is is a whiny robot built by a rich guy.

What I think makes this such an interesting match up is that it's a classic skill vs. power fight. Jayden's been training all his life to be a Ranger, whereas Mack just bumbled into it. But at the same time, Mack is physically the strongest Red ever, between his super strength and the fact that no real human could endure wearing his Battlizer. For me it's actually a tough call. Honestly, I'm kinda leaning towards Mack.

... because that is the best idea I've ever frakking heard. Now I want one >< Thanks, Wonder!

Mack wins, Jayden was the most boring charecter ever(which I understand has nothing to do with the point of this poll), and while a slightly more competent fighter, I feel mack's tech and superior battleizer will give him the edge.

About 24 hours to go on this round and we're tied up at 8 votes a piece. It's anyone's game right now. :eek:

I'm voting Jayden. I'm the type of guy who goes for skill over firepower, and besides, even with firepower, the freaking Red Samurai Ranger is no slouch. Don't the Samurai Rangers have some of the most upgrades in recent Power Rangers history? Plus, as someone once said of Shinkenger, the magic kanji/mojikara is almost akin to magic and can be insanely powerful.

I just realized, by the time this series of polls is decided, all the spots are filled, and people will have their own Super Megaforce, Super Megaforce will be on air...

This will speed up a bit after the Reds. The way I sorted this out, there are more Red and Sixth Rangers than any other color. Pink, in particular, should go pretty quickly.

There's the same amount of Reds as Blues and Yellows. Unless you're counting Other Red Timeman, Other Red Ninjaman, and Other Blue Ninjaman. Or whatever they're called.

The Zordon era really throws off the count, especially Turbo.

So you're not counting Eric the Quantum Ranger?

He's a Sixth. I know what Forever Red says, but he's a Sixth. just like how Tommy's not on the Green/Black list and Dominic isn't on the Pink/White list.

So, what about RJ?
Or does Jungle Fury just get 2 "Sixth" ranger?
And what about Alex, the first/second Time Force Red?

RJ is also on the Sixth list, yes. It happens. Ninja Storm had two Reds and two Blues, RPM has both a Green and a Black, and MMPR has two of everything but Blue.

Alex got left off. I basically decided that any Ranger who appears morphed in less than three episodes isn't on the poll. That's why Cat, Nova, A Squad, and Sky and Bridge as Reds aren't in this. Lauren's the only short-term Ranger that I put on the poll and I even waffled on that for awhile.

What about SPD A-Squad then? According to the PR Wiki, they have 4 episode appearances.

They're also evil, which takes them out of the running the same as the Psychos. Also, only one of them has a name. Even the Alien Rangers have names.
