Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Red Division Round 5
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

Well, since the last round turned out to be horribly imbalanced let's try something that might be a closer match. This time around it's the Ranger whose most noteworthy accomplishment is blowing up all of the team's Megazords and losing the Command Center and the guy who killed Serpentera with a motorcycle.

This is a tough one.On one hand,you have TJ.Decent Red,good fighting skills,and the only Red to have to lead a team with a kid as a ranger.Think of the responsibility he felt.Then there's Cole.Good Red,Good leader,good fighting skills.Went through a hard time finding out his parents were dead WHILE being the Red Ranger.Most Reds either know it already or find out near the tail end of their run as a red,he got it smack dab in the middle.

I like Wild Force and Cole.
That said, he's an idiot.

My vote goes to Selwyn Ward. The first black leader of the Power Rangers.

TJ had no real mentor (Demetria was piss poor), no tech support (Yo yo yo. All this jive talk means I can't help dawg), and was thrust into a battle he had no training or preparation for.
He may not have come out on top, but he had everything against him, and I'm not gonna hold that against him.

I'm waiting to hear this promised Sentai rant personally.

On Wild Force or on Turbo?
Because I know he hates both seasons, so I can't wait to see which one he defends :lol

But i have to go with Cole, i cant decide between these two, so i am goin biased and choose Cole

You made me vote for TJ. Evil Little Man. As much as I didn't enjoy TJ, he didn't commit any real sins. I just didn't like him. Cole however. Where do I freaking begin.

He wasn't a real leader, let's start there. Yellow was the Leader of Wild Force, Cole spent almost the entire season confused by lighters and flashlights and somehow muddled his way to victory defeating an Ork. But that isn't the real problem here. Forever Red. Ignoring they rehashed Big Bad Beetleborg suits and expected none of us to be paying attention. Ignoring Quantam Ranger isn't a freaking Red yet somehow was in this episode. The real middle finger in our eyeball was Serpentara. The Most Powerful Weapon ever Created in the Sentai Universe, the Most Powerful Weapon Ever Unleashed by Any Villian in MMPR. And you write he defeats by flying his motorcycle into the mouth of it?! Super Hero Taisen's ending was Lazy. Forever Red's was just Saban flipping us and our mother's off. Cole couldn't lead his team, he couldn't defeat an enemy properlly, and his combat skills were a bunch of Amazon Wannabe BS. Tj wins this. I may not've liked him, but I'm damn certain he would've kicked Cole's ass.

Well, Wild Force was Disney, and, if HOPR is to be believed, they didn't want to end it like that. They just didn't receive the funding needed for the episode, and had to convince Bandai of America to fund the rest of the episode on the condition that they feature a new toy.

That doesn't excuse why they wrote the ending like that, nor the rest of your problems with Cole, though.

I think I'll vote TJ, simply because he had to put up with Dimitria and original voice Alpha 6. That takes some skill.

You'll be happy to know that Eric isn't in the Red division for this.

Personally, I voted for TJ. I've always liked the guy and thought he was really underrated. The dude knew when to make the tough choices and when things had to be sacrificed for the greater good. He's a sadly minor footnote in the annals of the Red Rangers, but he's actually one of my personal favorites.

Didn't really like TJ in Turbo, or anyone for that matter. My vote goes to Cole.

But wasn't his flying bike came from, Animus as a gift? So wouldn't that be consider as a god gift..? HUZZAH!?!? ...I kid.

Back on topic I'm going to vote for, TJ as well I didn't see him do any real damage to his team, and plus he made Justin proud by wearing Blue as a Space Ranger. :D

off topic but why exactly isnt quantum a red ranger?

He's a red power man, but somebody has to fill the additional slot from Time Man.

Because he isn't. He's an Other or a Sixth. He had absolutely no damn buisness being in Forever Red. And why Saban put him in there I have absolutely no idea. But I imagine it was to annoy me. Thats why Saban does most things.

To have an even 10 Rangers.
MMPR was 3 seasons long, but only 2 seasons could be represented (Jason as MMPR S1, Aurico as Alien/S3). Rocky wasn't available (And even if he was, there was only room for one MMPR Red Ranger), so they took the closest character they had for a 9th Red Ranger.

So it was to annoy me, I always thought so.

How about Hunter?
He was on the red roster for this, but wasn't a "true Red Ranger," per say.

And yet Bug Red NinjaMan is less red than Super Red TimeMan...

Hunter I have no problem with. Because no one in canon tried passing him off as a Red Ranger for a thrown together last minute anniversary show that wasn't that good to begin with.

so tommy was ALSO a sixth/other ranger. NOT Green, and NOT white right? because the color of the suit doesnt matter apparently. thats what i thought. what role does DT Tommy fill? black or other?
fact- aurico wasnt the leader of his team so he apparently had no more business on the forever red team than eric did.

Tommy belonged in Forever Red because at one time he was an actual Red Ranger. Him being Green or White had absolutely nothing to do with it.

And yes, Aurico belonged on Forever Red. Because He Was a Red Ranger.

No one is arguing status or role on the team. This is just a case of "Suit be red dawg."

No, this is Sentai logic. Where one suit that's red can be red but another suit that's red isn't red because Sentai is stubborn and won't believe in color.

Quantam Ranger doesn't register as a Red Ranger because he isn't one. He was never one. He was always Time Force/Timeranger's Sixth. As Time Fire and Time Force Quantam. That was why Gai had his Key and not Marvelous. But back to the American version. Alien Ranger Red counts as a Red... Because he was a Red Ranger. Being Leader had nothing to do with it. Rocky was the Red Ranger of the MMPR team yet Tommy led while being the White Ranger.

You all asked for my opinion. Ive given it to the best of my ability. I honestly don't need, or want, belittled for it.

So basically, if the color of your spandex is red, but you aren't a leader, you can still have the word "red" preceding the word "ranger" in your common title.

But, if the color of you spandex is red, you aren't a leader, and you joined the team at a later date and get your own unique, individually packed, bigger toys, then you can never ever ever ever in a million bajillion years have the word "red preceding the word "ranger" in your common title?

He's a Red Ranger. His color is red, clearly. They used him in forever red because there were 3 seasons of MMPR which would have meant there'd only be 8 Reds. But Red Alien Ranger counts as one, leaving the conundrum of MMPR Red (Jason) and MMPR Red 2 (Rocky). And that would have meant only 9 reds for a 10th anniversary. OR use 2 from the same generation?

Somebody had to go. It would have made no sense to have 2 MMPR Reds so the logical conclusion was using the 2nd Red from Time Force to fill the ranks. Seeing as he is red as well but is still his own unique ranger, rather than being a legacy like 2nd MMPR Red, it makes sense.

For what it's worth, Time Fire registers as Black in the Galleon Buster.

For you Sentai,reasoning on why he was a "Red" from the wiki.

"In terms of operations, Eric is the only 'lone ranger' actively operating on a rival 'team' than the core rangers, effectively making him a one-ranger team. When we next see a rival team in the Thunder Rangers, they also have their own red (and blue) ranger. This could explain his Red Ranger status. He differs from Merrick who does not operate as a rival, but rather believed early on that he was unworthy of being part of the core group"

I know you don't like it,I consider him a sixth more then a red myself.Just giving you an example of why some consider him Red.

Why can't a Red not be part of the main team? Kaoru is very much a Red and she's a Bangai hero, for goodness sake, not even getting the privilege of Sixth Ranger status (which allows you to be part of the team proper).

I appreciate the clarifcation. Just giving my personal opinion about it, I just don't see him as a Red. And I'll never see Gosei Knight as a sixth.

Apologies if this sounds terse, but I hate typing on my iPhone.

Eric is a sixth for reasons that have been covered. Being the Sixth Ranger trumps color.

Hunter is a Red because he's not a Sixth Ranger. That was Cam in NS.

Tommy's other costumes all fall on the Sixth chart. I already know how to account for the multiple powers (special poll before that round starts).

If there's only one spot, Eric should certainly be Sixth first. It's just he's also a Red, merely a Sixth first.

So the conclusion that I have generated from this huge derailment is that Eric/Quantum Ranger is a red-colored Sixth Ranger. Why don't we leave it at that and give Sentai some Hot Pockets?
