Unexpected Fans in the Family
I showed my aunt my audition of Gavan for the Gokaiger Dub Project yesterday to show how I can voice act, when all of a sudden she says "That looks like Shaider." I gasped and asked her "You know Shaider?!!?!" She said that she used to watch it all the time when she was younger. Then she said that she also watched Kamen Rider Black. I was stunned. But the real shocker was when she started to say that her favorite series when she was little involved "Red One, Green Two, Blue Three..." I jumped up happily and said "You loved Bioman?!?!"
I was so happy to find out I wasn't the only Tokusatsu fan in the family. Anybody else have a relative that turned out to be a fan of a tokusatsu series? |
Ha! that is so badass that im not sure whether to believe you! *highfive*
|
Great story! I am the only real tokusatsu fan in my family, though my father and brother are huge monster fans in their own rights, just not specifically daikaiju. Although my father is a huge King Kong fan, so there is the small matter of the rivalry between the 8th Wonder Of The World and the King Of The Monsters... ;)

My older brother is a Godzilla and Power Rangers fan (I'm slowly trying to wean him onto Super Sentai), but he's not really an unexpected fan. Sadly I don't think I'll ever have an unexpected relative reveal themselves to be a fan, I've more accepted my role as being one that introduces it to other people now :D
Your aunt kicks ass though! You should get her to join the boards :p :lol |

Great story. I got my nephew in to power rangers/sentai. (he's sticking with pr for now cause he's not old enouh to read subbs)
|
This may be a zombie thread but I'm the only one in my family that knows about and loves toku. In fact I doubt they ever know about anything other than Power Rangers which is unfortunate because there is a lot of good stuff out there. I have not even told them about
my fondness not knowledge of toku because I'm a little nervous about telling them. |
My Dad likes Ultra Seven but that's about it.
|
My brother is a Sentai, Ultraman, and KR fan (In fact, he's the one who got me into KR, 3 full years before Vangelus got everyone over at TFW :lol)
My mother is a Godzilla, PR, and Ultraman fan (I love her. She was the one who got me into Godzilla AND Transformers). However, neither of them were really unexpected because they were the ones to get me into Toku :lol |
I had an odd experience a few months ago while I was watching an episode of Gaim. My uncle was visiting and he came into the room after he was out with the rest of my family (I was sick so I just stayed in bed watching Kamen Rider) When they got home he came up to my room to check up on me and noticed what I was watching. He asked what it was and I said "It's Kamen Rider" and immediately he asked "Oh, is that like Ultraman?" I was so happy! :D

This thread is slightly younger than my membership, and I don't remember it at all. How did you find it, Gun? :lol

My brother is a fan of all the Toku stuff like me, and is on this Message Board. My close friends are into it too.
|
One- I now question what Gun does when he is bored if he finds old threads.
Two- There is no way in hell anyone in my family likes Toku. All Im saying :lol |
Nobody i know is into Toku.
|
I'm the only toku fan in my family, my brother despises Super Sentai and Kamen Rider for some reason. He says that what he hates about the toku shows is their random explosions. I tell him: Like that's the point of it? You watch it for the story and characters not the explosions.
He's still not into it and will never be. |
