Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Red Division Round 6
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

Okay, so last round was actually pretty close, only four votes separating the winner and loser. Let's see if this round will be another nail-biter...

This time we're matching up the living legend of Power Rangers against that guy from the show that nobody really remembers.

Is it time for Tommy to morph into action? Will Casey unleash the spirit of his jungle beast? Which Ranger will reign su- okay, it'll be Tommy, but let's at least pretend for a couple minutes.

Goodness, poor, poor Casey. He's going to get massacred, and the Jungle Fury powers weren't significantly powerful to begin with.

I voted for Casey out of pity. I've taken a screen-shot of it since this is the only time he'll be in the lead.

I want my Geki rep, and I already know RJ sure as hell isn't gonna beat the Gold Ranger or the Green Ranger, so I'm voting for Casey.

I still don't know who to vote for. I think Tommy is probably more powerful, but I never particularly liked Tommy that much. Maybe I will abstain or give Casey the vote.

Eh. Casey might be able to score enough pity votes to win...Maybe.

Hell, even when accounting on a power vs power basis, Casey could score a win.

Huh... well i liked casey, and i know he wont make it through next round but...yeah i want tommy as a white or green sixth role instead of red. Im voting for Casey, plus he had jungle master mode and he truly earned his stripes by giving jarrod a chance, something no other ranger has really done in any series. he was a good leader but always knew he had alot to learn

I went with Casey I like those "I still need to learn how to be a leader" Type of characters, but he's a master now so eh...

I love Casey. I liked him in Jungle Fury, I cannot wait to see him again in Super Megaforce, but.. He's up against Tommy freaking Oliver. Had to vote Zeo on this.

I would kind of love a huge upset like that. Especially since I've always liked Tommy more as a Sixth Ranger than as a Red.

That said, I still voted for him. :o

Honestly, I would feel bad over picking the probably weaker character, but Tommy has 3 more freaking chances.

And this is why I'm voting Casey as well.Not only that,but he was one of the more decent Reds during the Disney Era.He was just like TJ,started from nothing and ended up becoming not only a leader,but a succesful one at that.Tommy,he was a good red,but also a good green,white,and black.He'll have his moment,but this belongs to Casey.

I know Tommy is much more likely to fill the sixth ranger role in this tournament, but for obvious reasons I want him as Red. For Jungle Fury representation I'd rather see RJ.

I was going to vote for Casey out of pity, but I decided against it...and now I put Tommy in the lead...please don't hurt me...

Zeo Tommy had a sword, a birdjet, and a star robot.

Casey had nunchaku, combining dual swords, a claw that gave him rocket boosters, an energy tiger, an energy gorilla and a FLYING ENERGY SHARK THAT BECOMES A SET OF HUGE BLADES.
Plus Casey's actor could remain a stoic Red for the Sentai footage in spite of Jan being an eccentric nutcase we all love.

Honestly, I just want Tommy out of the running to make things more interesting. That, and Red isn't his color.

I haven't seen Jungle Fury, so I'll vote Tommy.

It's kind of hard to like the canonically confirmed "Greatest Ranger Ever" and people love an underdog.

And who better to be the underdog than the...Cat.

I could make so many jokes from that statement, but I'd end up angering someone.

From a purely power perpective, is Casey really stronger than Zeo Tommy? I never got the impression that Casey was even as strong as Jan from Gekiranger to begin with.

Well, Zeo Tommy has a really big wheel he can get in and roll at people.

That's totally a thing.

Tommy has a sword, Tanya has Nunchaku, Casey has both.
Tommy has two mecha (Phoenix that's pretty much a jet and "Star Robot"), Casey has three (Tiger made of energy, Gorilla made of energy, and FLYING SHARK MADE OF ENERGY THAT BECOMES SUPER SHARP BLADES).
Tommy's powers just get stronger without Tommy needing to do anything, Casey's get stronger the more he works for it.

Casey also had that super roar he used in the pilot and a super mode with rocket jets.

Casey has Jet Fu and Jet Fu is awesome. :D

Going for Casey. I'd much prefer Tommy to win for MMPR Green. Hey, I just thought of something.

What if MMPR Green and MMPR WHite end up fighting?

They won't. I'm going to hold a special poll before the Sixth Ranger tournament to see which version of Tommy is in that - MMPR Green, MMPR White, or DT Black.

Why?
Because 6th will only occupy one slot, there will only be one inevitable winner, even if the finals are Tommy 3 times.

Because he's only one man. Notice how he's not in here for Zeo and Turbo. Rangers only get one slot in a pool. Otherwise things would be really unbalanced for the Zordon era characters, many of whom would get multiple chances.

Also, we're currently all tied up at 12 votes each. I was planning to end this round tonight, so if you're still waffling you may want to hurry up and vote.

Well, it was a valiant effort, but looks like a last minute vote has put Tommy over the top. He'll be moving on while Casey heads to the entirely fictional consolation couch.

funny because when i looked about an hour ago it was tied and hardly any of these tommy votes have posted a reason

Mostly because the poll has been largely inactive (there's only been 3 or 4 votes since I got up this morning) and because I want to get us back onto a nighttime update schedule.
