Wizard Episode 32: "Part-Time Danger" Discussion
 

Defiantly a shift in tone from last week, still good though also the mystery behind Gremlin is very interesting to me

...Yep. Stuff happened.
I didn't exactly love this episode, but it was alright. I liked Nitou's friend, and Hobgoblin was kind of neat.

The very definition of a filler episode :(

Hate the beginning of this ep. If you get a full can of liter fluid onto a grill like this is would NOT explode in 15 seconds and it would NOT create and explosion like that. I know I am being ultra nit picky but it bugs the hell out of me. That and the shitty cg/green screen effect for the can flying through the air was bad as well.

Another thing that's been bugging me are the scene transfers. For example, Beast and Wizard were fighting Hobgoblin in the house, then they were fighting in a park. But two minutes before they showed Gremlin and Hob on the roof of said house and it was in a somewhat dense neighborhood. Yeah, I know it's normal for Kamen Rider but it has been more obvious in Wizard than in other shows.

Over all the ep was kinda meh. I like the divide that is growing within the Phantom ranks and the actress playing Medusa just oozes personality (and hate of Gremlin).

Anyone else notice that the house the interviewees were taken to at the end of the ep is the same house that the Greeds used as a home base in OOO?

It was also the setting for the last battle in The Next. The staircase is where Rider 1, Rider 2, and V3 did their epic group pose.

Anyway, I loved this episode. The guest character was annoying, but I really loved all the scenes with the main characters hanging out together. They all have a really strong rapport and it shows in scenes like their dinner or when Haruto and Kosuke are sneaking into the office. Haruto, in particular, just plays beautifully off of all the other characters.

Did... did you just praise Haruto?

Anyway, I found the interactions between Gremlin and Medusa to be amusing.

Well, it was pretty much a filler. We get all the shiny cool new forms.

Now I hope the show will bring exciting stuff in the plot for the beginning of the final third around ep33~34. Like throwing Medusa twin here and there, get more of Wiseman/White wizard motives, having Koyomi evolve from her strange condition, etc.

You know what stood out more than the episode to me? That bit in the SHTZ intro where Gabutyra is drawing power from past T-Rex mecha. That was cool.

Episode wasn't too awful though. The Haruto being small thing seemed quite out of sorts, but it was appreciated nonetheless. It also amused how hard the writers seemed to be squeezing lines in for Koyomi :lol

Absolutely. He's rapidly become my favorite main Rider since Shotaro. The dude's cool under pressure, he can pull off a good range of emotions, has a good mastery of subtle humor (which is rare in modern toku), and he plays off of the other characters fantastically. I thought he was kind of boring at first, but he's grown on me a lot. If this keeps up I can easily see him being one of my favorite Heisei Riders. Honestly, of the last several years worth of Riders I already like him a lot more than Wataru, Tsukasa, Eiji, and even Gentaro.

Yeah it's making me think that maybe Phoenix will come back, challenge Wiseman and Gremlin, and Medusa will side with Phoenix. I know the Phoenix actor got his bouquet but they can bring back just the suit, without the human form.

And I am back and finally all nice and caught up with Wizard.

This last set of episodes has been a bit of a thrill ride, each rider getting their final power ups, getting a bit of a better idea of the broader picture behind the scenes.

The White Wizard's comment in the last episode really struck a chord with me, when he said "this is becoming a nuisance" when Wizard Infinity appeared...hmmmmmmmm.

Can't wait to see where everything goes.

Enjoyed this episode more than I thought. It was fun to see the formula mixed up a bit and having Haruto and Kouskue actively work together was cool. Also Maki's Mansion! The Hobgoblin suit is a cool design even if I don't feel the name fits.

What's so surprising about that? He's got the straightforward heroism of Blade with none of the boring, uh, stuff.

The point is he smiles and laughs and frowns and cries every now and then, which is good enough to be exciting.

Speaking of good enough, this episode was 'aight. I kind of like the self-contained feel, but yeah, nothing really happened. It sorta felt like it was just trying to show a new status quo with Gremlin in charge and stuff, you know, give everything a week to settle down. You can only have so many plot twists in a row.

I hear nothing about Haruto these days besides complaints about him being a bland Gary Stu. This is the first time I've heard a compliment given to him in ages.

Totally pegged the phantom of the week as like..Mandrake or something.
