Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Red Division Round 8
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

So the last round was pretty much a total shut-out again. Let's see how this one goes. This time around we've got the original Red Ranger going up against his best friend's protege.

Connor, he has an actual character arc and didn't get stuck at a "peace conference" for three years of his life.

Conner McKnight. He can actually act and actually has a character. :lol

Connor. He can deliver super-stretchy punches with a Styracosaurus face.

Connor McKnight is the victor, since that is just one of the benefits of being a power-up junkie.

I find it strange that both of the Mighty Morphin' Red Rangers have received no votes.

You know, it just hit me now that these are the two Tyrannosaurus Rangers. I can't believe I missed that.

Anyway, I voted for Conner. Jason's easily the better martial artist, but Conner is no slouch either and he probably has more power-up forms than any other Ranger ever. I'd say he wins this on raw power alone.

Besides, Jason is boring (well, in MMPR anyway). Conner may be kind of a dim bulb, but he was a much more engaging character and way more fun.

Not to mention the most frequent user of his battlizer at a total eight times in his series.

Actually, if we're going to get technical, Jayden had the most power-ups (Super Samurai, Super Mega Samurai, Shark Attack, Shark Attack Mega, and Shogun, as compared to Connor's Super Dino, Triassic, and Triassic Battilizer).

Gotta say Conner.Would be a tough fight if I just went by their ranger forms alone.Conner not only has the better powers,but when he's just a normal civilian,he friggin has super speed! Also look at Jason's picture.Even in that he looks boring.

Never got that far in Samurai, that's why I said "probably." ;)

Conner for two reasons.

Dino Thunder Red is still the absolute most overpowered Red Ranger in MMPR History. And he was an expert on how to use those powers. Give Jason the Dragon Shield, and Conner would pull out the Battlizer.

And I'm waiting to vote for Jason until he's represented as The Gold Ranger. Because I frakking loved him as The Gold Ranger.

Dayum! no love for Jason, Connor, one of my favorite reds, he is the reason I actually thought about playin soccer :lol

Isn't it about time for the mercy rule? Jason isn't going to suddenly sprout 13 votes.

Connor would just become Triassic Ranger if, Jason ever thought of using the Dragon shield and dagger....So Connor gets my vote.

Probably, but unfortunately I need to get up early for work so it's bedtime for me. I'll set the new one up tomorrow when I have a chance.

Please...this is my favorite PR season we're talking about. Conner, hands down. I'm surprised at how few votes Jason got.

I am surprised how much Conner love there is. He is one of my absolute favorite Red Rangers if not my favorite one. Loved Dino Thunder and he was awesome.

And it's logic that Conner won. Jason and Conner would be evenly matched in their base forms. Conner would have the reach to deflect Jason, and Jason would have the skill to fend off the reach. So we power them up. Jason recieves the Dragon Shield, and Conner goes Triassic. Again they'd be evenly matched. Triassic might have the raw power, but Jason has dealt with plenty of raw power. The equalizer comes from Conner's trump. The Battilizer. He goes battlizer and Jason has no where to go power-wise. Making the rest of the fight an OP win by the most OP Red ever. Still be a fun fight to watch though.

And even if they call the Zords? Conner has Jason beaten. Jason can't form a Megazord without other Rangers. He'd still have the T-Rex and the Dragonzord, so he wouldn't be a slouch. But look at Conner's Arsenal. He can form a Megazord by using his Rex and any one of the Aux Zords. Plus he can call on the Mezodon Megazord. PLUS he can call on the Triceramax Megazord. All Solo.

No matter how this fight goes Jason just gets curb stomped and humilated.

The Battlizer isn't a raw power up for Connor. It never was.
He gets stretchy arms. Amazing. Because when I'm fighting a foe with a sword, what I want to do is make my arms extremely lanky and unwieldy.

Also, doesn't Triassic Ranger need the powers of his Ethan and Kira?

Really? I don't remember that ever happening on the show, even if the toy can do it.

Yes.

The Tricera and Tyranno can combine into the underpowered 'Thundersaurus Incomplete'. It did happen once in show but, even then, Ethan still needed to be present. The Triassic Ranger is able to control all the auxilliary zords and the Mezodon rover though, thereby giving him the Trceramax Megazord.

At first yes, but they find a way around it later on.

When the first recieves the power, yes, he needs them to offer their power to transform. But as the series goes on he just becomes Triassic and doesn't need Ethan or Kira.

And my comments about the Megazord. He could, in theory, create a Megazord without Ethan or Kira solely by using the T-Rex and an Aux Zord. Just because he never did that in the show doesn't mean he couldn't do that. And even if he can't, he still has the Mezadon Rover and the ultimate congifuration.

If he were to try to make the Megazord with one of the aux "zords", he would probably use either Pachysephalo or Anklo, since they replace Tricera in the normal combination. He could use the others but he'd only have one arm.
Hell, if he really wanted to, he could form the Megazord with just Tyranno.

i cant wait for the other color rounds when it becomes less about who can spam the most power and more about skill and contribution to the team

So Conner wins because you made up a way for him to make his own megazord? You know who has his own Megazord that is actually in the show? Jason's Red Dragon Thunderzord.

Regardless, it's a fact that Conner can go Triassic and control either the Mesodon Megazord or Triceramax Megazord by himself.

Then why make up more things:confused:

To satiate Connor's addiction.

I'm pretty sure he still needed them present, he just no longer depowered them when he activated Triassic mode.

Also, Zords still don't factor into this fight.

Power-ups.

But Ethan is the video gamer... :p

I'm putting a fork in this one, it's done. Conner has pulled off an upset and sent the original Red Ranger packing in the first round.
