Speculations and Theories on the Next Rider
 

Wizard is reaching it's Climax, and sometime in the next few months we should be hearing what the next Rider is. So what do we think? Personally I wouldn't mind a more Insect Rider like Kuuga, and Agito. With an original story like Hibiki. Kamen Rider Kuugitibiki.

I want the painter they said wizard was going to be. It seems inventive.

I want an overt technology themed Rider.
As in, not just a technological Rider, but something like Faiz, with multiple tools and gadgets.

So something like a cross between Faiz and Fourze?

As I read that, I though of a Kuuga or Kiva-esque Rider delivering a Rider Kick to a monster with the brushstroke effects from Ōkami.

Can't pretend to know what the next Rider will be, but I know we'll find out around late June/early July. Before then we will have at least one fake rumor that somehow gains a lot of traction.

I'd normally say it's to early for this thread, but I'm so ready to get to a new series.

Kyoryuger's mecha is Ice Age mammals. No, it's Dinosaur-themed trains.
Actually it's a giant Sambasaurus Rex and a bunch of smaller dinos that come in two flavors: biped and quadruped.

And I like Kyoryger, all I'm saying is I was hoping for another deer mecha.

I just want a regular,insect themed rider.We havent had one in a long time.I don't mind the tech riders,and the themed riders,but whens the last time we had one close to a bug type? OOO? and even then he didnt start off that way,he had to get the coins first to get his GataKiriBa form.

I just want a regular rider,one that doesn't rely so much on their theme.I mean look at Wizard.He's cool and all,but the only thing they kept is the antenna.Even the compound eyes are gone now.

... I'm still broken hearted we didn't get Dino Trains. Dinos, that become Trains, then become Mecha, and finally one bigass Mecha. .. Also a little sad we didn't get that suit either.

I still love Kyoryuger, I just wanted trains .-.

Well, since everything is a shot in the dark, I'll say right now that I think it would be really cool if we got a casino-themed rider. With a slots-machine/roulette henshin belt, all of that jazz. And they could throw in the whole card gimmick that Toei seems to love. And to top it off we could have Rider Chips doing the music.

A Kamen Rider Parody Season! Like Carranger, but with Bugmen that kick stuff.

Yeah,but after that they started veering away from the whole insect motif.First OOO didnt start with one,but he did get a form completely devoted to it.Then Fourze who didnt even have a insect form but had the eyes and antenna.Now Wizard,who the only thing he has the same about him is the antenna.

I understand why they had to do it(there's only so many insects in the world),I'm just saying I miss the feel of it,and that the riders lately have gotten more complicated.Heck you barely see any of them use Rider Kicks anymore.

Replace "theme" with "gimmick" and you have my wish in a nutshell. Rider (and Sentai) are being over gimmicked to sell toys. I'm not saying the product placement should go away completely, but rather it needs to be better balanced and the gimmick needs to actually complement the show.

Also, the formula needs to be changed up. Instead of insane amounts of power ups and forms and a single additional Rider that's pointless, let's have few form changes and many Riders that exit when no longer needed. Kind of like Ryuki, but less Highlander-y please. That would be a good change of pace and still have plenty of toys for them to sell.




PS I'd also like the darker tones of the early Heisei back (pretty much any show from Kuuga to Kabuto, give or take), but I don't see that happening anytime soon. *sigh* I miss when people were stuffed into trees in Kamen Rider.

Totally agree.I love the darker,more gritty storyline.Some of my favorite series were Faiz,Kabuto,Ryuki,and Kiva.

I would love another Kuuga.

You know, it is Kamen Rider not Mushi Rider. Shotaro Ishinomori's original concept wasn't even bug themed.

Even so,bug concept or no,the rider series has gotten more about product placement then the series.I did like Fourze,and I am liking Wizard,I'm just sayin the more simple riders were better.It gave them the ability to focus more on the story and less on "Here's a 3 episode arc to reveal a form" feel to it.

I'd like to see a Kamen Rider based on emotions. Like the forms are Anger, Joy, Fear, Love etc. Mostly because the first thing I ever knew about Decade was that he had a form called Violent Emotion and it sounded insanely cool(I realize now it's not, but the NAME of it is cool).

That is an awesome idea. But I don't see Toei doing two emotionally themed Toku at the same time. (The DeBoss from Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger)

An insect, with 6 legs, would fit with the current theme they having going.

W = 2
OOO = 3
Fourze = 4
Wizard = 5

Hate to break it to you, but the trend was referring to the number of collectibles needed to use the belt for each series. One card for Decade, two memories for W, three medals for OOO and four switches for Fourze. Wizard only uses two rings at a time and saying the trend is continued with the five fingers on the belt would be changing the rule entirely. Sorry, but the trend ended with Fourze.

I like to see us get back to a more showa-ish origin for a rider. A character whose powers were forcibly given to them with the intent of evil, only for them break free of their programming and be a hero. I always liked that about the Showa ers but you just don't see that these days. I'd also like to get back to costumes that are at least vaguely based on insects again.

Absolutely. They end up using Shocker for every movie anyway, you might as well start them off at the begining of the show.

There's a reason why Foundation X was only marginally important in one series and has been delegated to movies ever since.

They're just boring as hell. Making Shocker the villains again would just rehash decade old story lines.

The trend is just the number in general.It's not based on the belt alone.One could say that the number refers to the suit as well.Decade being the first,W with the split look=2,OOO with the triple sectioned suit=3,Fourze with the four limb shapes,and Wizard with his helmet.

It's all a matter of perspective.It's not the belt that matters,it's the number.And so far each rider has had a number associated with it.
