Jason David Frank - Power Rangers Megaforce, My Morphin Life Documentary, and more!
 

Jason David Frank, or as you may remember him better, Tommy Oliver the Mighty Morphin Green and White Ranger, the Red Zeo Ranger, the Red Turbo Ranger, and the Dino Thunder Black Ranger - is in attendance at this year's Chicago ComicCon and IGN was in attendance to record anything and everything Frank had to say.

When asked about returning for Power Rangers Super Megaforce, Jason David Frank said the following:

“I would do it for $1. I do it for you guys, I don’t care about the money.”

When pressed on whether or not he was doing it or not, Frank said that the Green Ranger would be in the show in costume, but couldn't say whether or not he himself would be in the show.

Jason David Frank also added a few more tidbits - he's spent a year filming a documentary titled My Morphin' Life. There's also plans for a 20th Anniversary Mighty Morphin Power Rangers celebration, and that more details would be revealed soon, but that it celebrates the original show.

And that, and so many other reasons, is why he will remain my all time favorite Ranger and MMPR Actor ever. Because he gives a damn. About the show, about the fans. I love him.

I wonder if he'll hold his word on it. It's easy to say you'll do something for a dollar...

Saban...MAKE THIS HAPPEN!! The guy is basically handing you ratings on a silver platter.

If he's suddenly learned to act, then sure, bring him back for an episode. If he still can't act like he still couldn't in Dino Thunder, then to be honest I'm sick of him and the hype that surrounds him. I was so happy when we finally got 100% confirmation that he wouldn't be Gokai Silver. Hate me for saying it, but the truth is Gary-stu character with bad acting does not a good character make and that is the perfect description of Tommy Oliver.

Also, he's a good guy to PR fans, but outside of that he seems like a bit of a tool, especially with how he talks about some other PR actors (Austin St John, mostly).

YES! Tommy is the Ranger of All Rangers. He need's to be in All of Super Megaforce. With out Tommy Super Megaforce wood be a let down.

Heck yea! This is getting me excited, I would love to hear the original dragon flute and not something re-hashed for his cameo if he does come back.

It would be injustice for him to not make an appearance in Megaforce. Hell, I probably would have made him that Silver Ranger. Making him a main character in the second season, and adding another Ranger color to his list. The documentary should be interesting, and I'm curious to see what they've got planned for this "celebration".

Curiously, I always found him one of 3 characters who could act in MMPR (Alongside Johnny Bosch and Walter Jones)

I so friggin hope saban doesn't pull a dumbass move and let JDF not be in PRSMF, I mean seriously, is there really anyone who doesn't want the Chuck Norris of PR in the 20th anniversary?

There are plenty.
But time and money are big factors. While JDF claims that he doesn't really care for the money, poor timing could break the deal.

Its mostly his performance in Dino Thunder that I found to be gruelling. I can forgive meh acting for PR because they were all starting out as actors and I understand that it is often the start of professional acting for them. But in Dino Thunder he couldn't emote in anything outside of fight scenes to save his life and it bothered me, I kind of felt that after 5 seasons of appearances he should have some more experience then what he was showing, especially when the adults in PR are usually better then the kids and he was still on their level (or occasionally lower in emotional scenes).

I really don't care for an appearance by him. Being a "Chuck Norris" is not exactly a good thing, he was total complete God-Mode Canon Sue by Dino Thunder and I found it incredibly annoying. He wasn't bad in early MMPR but my god, as his popularity increased, he just became unbearable. I don't understand why in PR it is rejoiced while in nearly every other show, book, comic, whatever (Super Sentai included) it is basically the most irritating thing that can happen to a character.

I think a lot of the problem is that I only started watching PR/SS last year and have watched every season (of PR, slowly working on SS) with zero nostalgic value. Tommy holds no special place in my heart and he sort of bugged me from the second his popularity started writing the plot of MMPR in some cases.

Yeah... call me when they bring back David Yost.

man i intrested about this MMPR thing is it going to be like hurricanger special where the hole cast after they left come back for one last fight of a villian that did not die i hope so cause it be awesome. also his acting was really good when he was playing the character john stawart in Fall Guy: The John Stewart Story where he played a dare devil

While I'd be all for an entire team returning, I really hope it's not the Ninja Storm team...

I actually would like for that to happen. Ninja Storm was my MMPR.

Technically, MMPR was my MMPR.
However, Turbo was the first season I watched and understood what was going on (Perhaps that's why I'm so forgiving towards it).
I'm not exactly vying for either Turbo team to return in full :lol

how but this guys, when the ultimate ranger teamup thing we got goin, when its done, we give that to saban and that's who comes back :lol

At the very least, Sally Martin (Tori) will probably return. I hope that Jorgito Vargas, Jr., (Blake) returns, too, since my first Power Rangers toy was a Navy Thunder Ranger action figure.

because at the rate itz going, that tournamet wont be done for a couple months and SMF filming will be long done
