Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Red Quarter-finals Round 3
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

Sometimes the match-ups for these things just work out serendipitously, like Rocky vs. Hunter in the ninja fight or Jason vs. Conner in the tyrannosaurus throw-down. Well this time we've got another pairing like that, and this time it's with cars!

Between a high school student and an Airforce pilot, I'm giving it to the pilot.

Is it just me or does this one seem a bit... you know what, I'm not going to say it.

I'm voting for TJ, too. I've always felt he's underrated and underestimated.

Most definitely underrated. Hate for Turbo seems to seep it's way to hate towards it's characters.
Rather annoying, since TJ had no real leader (A tire iron would be a better mentor than Dimetria) and no tech guy (Billy having left and Alpha 6 being too busy being a jive turkey).
It really was just him and his team, with maybe the occasional bursts of help/wisdom from Dimetria every other episode or so.

I have no animosity towards Power Rangers Turbo. This is because I only saw the movie. As such, I do not have an opinion on T.J., since almost everything I know about him comes from History of Power Rangers. I have, however, watched RPM, and I think Scott is a strong Red Ranger (though he is my second-favorite Red Ranger).

I'm voting for Scott because he was a solid character. TJ was a better blue anyways.

TJ was a decent Red, but is Space had him as Blue for a full season as opposed to Turbo, where he just took over Tommy's role.

Scott was Red all the way through. And he had Military training!

I got in Gear. I went with Scott.

TJ led his team into being baked into a gaint pizza while Scott led his team to victory againist the apocalypse...yeah, Scott wins this one. I like both TJ and Scott, but TJ just wasn't the best Red Ranger.

Both had a pretty hard time, but I'm gonna have to give this to Scott.

I think TJ's main problem is that he was just a placeholder Red Ranger. Just someone, storywise, to bridge the gap of story between Tommy leaving and Andros coming in. That's how it felt to me, anyway.

Except he wasn't.
Tanya was a placeholder character.

I think it's a bit generous to call Tanya a character. :p

How was Tanya a placeholder?

What did she ever do?
Hell, if I recall, even her actress acknowledged that all she ever really did was stand in the background and say "RIGHT!", "READY!", or "YEAH!"

She sang... really badly.

Hey now! Without Tanya (well, at least her parents), the rangers never would have found Auric the Conqueror!

Who would later disappear after 3 appearances and never be mentioned again....
