Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Red Semi-finals Round 1
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

6. Hunter (wild card)

The choices are going to get tougher from here on out, so let's not waste time and dive right into things by settling the age-old question of which is more powerful, a T-Rex or a firetruck?

I'm sticking with Conner. Forget wearing a motorcycle, get a load of those stretchy arms!

Tough one. On the one hand, a very well fleshed out character with enough charm to him that he's likable despite being a power hog and a complete idiot most of the time. On the other hand, a complete bad ass that after several years of reds that prefer to go hand to hand with a monster (often poorly I might add) is the first to think "Hey I have a gun, why not use it."

Hmm... Connor it is, I'm a sucker for Dinosaurs. Carter isn't memorable to me at all.

Goin with Carter.Lightspeed was one of my favorite series,and Carter was a great red.Sure Connor has more power,but Carter is a better leader and a more logical fighter.Like guncannon said,he's one of the first reds to figure "Hey,why get my ass beat when I can just shoot them"

Or floor it and see how many monsters you can run down with a yellow jeep.

Carter gets this one, hes a better leader and a better fighter, plus he didnt spam power-ups.

My decision has been Carter can shoot the fuck out of anyone, well Conner has Super-speed and tougher armor than most of the others. My vote goes to Conner.

I'm voting for Carter because I'm getting tired of Connor bullshitting his way through this because he can power spam, regardless of application of those powers.

Exactly.He has more power,but he's not exactly the brightest to use it.Carter would at least use his extra power strategically or with some logic behind it,Not just go "Connor smash!"

Okay, Conner wasn't that stupid. Over the course of the series, he did grow and develop as a fighter. Granted, most of this was because he received power-ups he needed to learn how to use, but that still adds to his fighting prowess.

Carter could literally never get in range of Connor.

Because that wouldn't be able to be seen coming from a mile away...

The thing I'm saying though is that Connor never had a fight that really needed strategy.He would just go in and rely on his power.And if it was a fight where he had to use some smarts,it was mostly just "Hey,look at this glaringly obvious weak spot and hit it!"

Yea I'm going to give it to Carter this round.

Using baseless assumptions says that I can say Carter can take down giant monsters with his pistols.

These guys are still in the tournament? I'd call them both average at best.

And Carter openly fired on the giant monsters without hesitation. What's to say his weapons weren't powerful enough to do so, and he was just pulled away before he could get the kill?

The characters never used the power of the Dino gems while morphed. Why can we assume they can?

At this rate, Connor is gonna have a free ride...

Well unmorphed Conner could grab Carter's guns at Super speed and shoot him till he was defeated.


Also this tournament, reinvigorating my love of Conner and I want to go watched Dino Thunder again now.

I can understand how spandex bodysuits and modified motorcycle helmets would impair hide-armor and sonic screeches, respectively, but I don't think it's constricting enough to prevent Conner from running faster.

Carter's a crafty one. He loses a gun, he ports in a bigger one.
Connor also has no formal training handling weapons, he might not be able to handle the recoil unmorphed.

If anything the suit makes him faster due to reducing wind resistance.

Be funny watching him try :lol Goes to fire and bitchslaps himself with his own gun.

Conner is kind of dumb. I would even dare say he's among the dumbest Red Rangers. All he has going for him is power and anyone with half a brain knows power isn't everything. I can understand why Carter is here with his training, but Conner should've been out long ago.

Sure, you say that now. But when only Soccer and Great Hair can save us, you'll be kissing his butt.

No I wouldn't. I'd be making both Digimon and Stretch Armstrong jokes. Don't worry, they'll all be over his head. :p

Hey you give him Sun Vulcan's team weapon and he'd be a fucking badass. (It's a ball lol)

However Conner has a lot of heart, and he isn't as dumb as some of the other rangers.

This is getting pretty heated for two okay Reds. The Sixth Ranger discussions are gonna be bloodbaths.

If Connor ends up winning the Red Ranger division I weep for all the other future candidates.

Carter is by far the better ranger. He has the training, he's braver, smarter and a much better leader. Connor is just a soccer fanatic who got lucky and has some power ups that everyone seems to be fawning over.

By solely taking Power ups into account, not skill or ability, he's clenching the Quantum Ranger the 6th ranger win by virtue of being the only 6th Ranger with a battlizer...

As much as I dig Conner, Carter is the superior Red Ranger.

Carter gets my vote. Remember that time when the only way he could defeat a monster was by running up it, bear hugging it, and letting both of them get blown up? Yeah, Carter walked away from that.

I was gonna reply to the whole "Well Connor has super speed." posts when my internet went down so here goes.Simply put,him having super speed just proves that he needs powers to be succesful even unmorphed.Carter doesnt.He was a firefighter,saving lives before he was even a ranger.What was Connor?
