Sixth Ranger Classification
 

In an effort to keep this thread on topic, while still providing a place of discussion, I have created a thread asking for your personal opinion on the classification of Sixth Rangers.

Personally, I believe a Sixth Ranger must meet at least one of the below criteria in order to be a Sixth Ranger.

*A hero who is an addition to a five-person team.
*The sixth Ranger in a series (e.g. the White Dino Ranger clone, Evil Red Buster).

And there you have it.

I personally only have one requirement for "Sixth Ranger."

>An additional hero who breaks status quo.

Simple.
This spells out everything I need. "Hero" means characters like the White Ranger Clone from DT are excluded, breaking status quo means characters who were benched for 90% of the series like MagiMother or Koragg are out, too.

This is all just how I view things. I'm not gonna pull a Sentai and impose my opinion as fact. :p

I mostly agree with this, although I'd also add "aesthetically unique," meaning that their appearance is distinct from that of the other Rangers (which totally gives me an out on the Blake and Hunter thing, as they share the same design style).

Aesthetically unique is a good one, too, but I really wouldn't include it, since (And I regret bringing it up) the Quantum Ranger's design wasn't that unique in comparison to the other Rangers, despite clearly being the 6th ranger.

This is how I classify a Sixth and an Other.


Must be a Human who Morphs
Must have a Morpher
Must be the Sixth Member

These are sixth rangers, as I see them.

Solaris Knight
Samurai Green (ninja storm)
Mercury Ranger
Phantom Ranger

Jungle Fury Rhino, Crimson and Navy from Ninja Storm, and Dino Thunder Black would all count as just normal rangers. In my veiw you don't become an Other or Sixth until there are already five main Rangers.

Rangers that don't Morph.

RoboKnight
Blue Centarian (I fail at spelling, I blame television)

And so on, are Others.

Why is the Phantom Ranger qualifying for Sixth then?
He doesn't morph, he has no known morpher, and he's not even confirmed human.

Likewise, the "Human" thing also brings up the Gold Ranger, who's Triforian for half of his tenture. Does he only count as "Sixth" when Jason is Gold?

Phantom is the Sixth of Turbo because it's assumed he is Human. And when I said HUman, I didn't mean of Earth. I meant they morph. I should've been clearer on that :lol

And no. They both do. Troy of Triforia counts as the sixth, because they merged into one being to become Gold, and Jason counts as Sixth cause he was Sixth.

-I find myself agreeing with this mostly(scary?), I still count Trent and Rhino as sixths, despite they arent ACTUALLY number 6, they fill that role of being a slight outsider but later integrated.
RoboKnight, Magna Defender(Not Mike) and Blue Centurion are ranger-like allies, but not actual rangers themselves.

-But apparently The gold ranger doesnt have a morpher, he just waves his arms...

-and yes Phantom is a ranger, while we didnt see him unmorphed, we can easily assume he a)has a morpher of some sort and b) that suit is clearly not his body, its a suit.

-Sixths can fill multiple roles on a team, they are number six(obviously), but often also have a color as well. If gokaiger were to do an all Green morph, DragoRanger certainly wouldnt be disqualified even though he was the 6th of Zyu. As is the case with TimeFire/Quantum, KibaRanger, and others. Magna Defender is Black, but would he be considered a black ranger type? Eh hes a little less rangery but I suppose he shouldnt be entirely disqualified.

My classification of a sixth ranger:
1) If they remain as a main character throughout the series during their time as a Power Ranger (disincluding Kat and MagiWhite)
2) If they have their own separate zord that is compatible with the main rangers megazord
That is all.

So, what about In Space?
The Mega Winger wasn't compatible with the Astro Megaship.

They also usually get their own changer.

Usually but not always: Case in point: Dragon Ranger. Also, some don't have changers.

Dragonranger's Dino Buckler was differently colored, which sorta counts. And you still need to have your own robo, so it's not like everyone cameo from Dekaranger is now also a 6th...

Also, which universally accepted 6th didn't get a changer? VRV Master? I don't think Carranger has a bonified 6th.
EDIT: Go-On Green, Go-On Black, and the Goraigers have their own robos and changers too. Know what, just forget the changer thing.

As far as I know, Shurikenger didn't have a changer. I'm probably wrong, though.
