Jonathan Tzachor will be the death of Power Rangers
EDIT: Here's some information from Fury Diamond, the amazing owner of rangercrew.com who has many sources within production.
http://www.rangercrew.com/forum/show...83#post1095783 Hello. This is my rant. Jonathan Tzachor, executive producer of Power Rangers Samurai, Super Samurai, Megaforce, and the upcoming Super Megaforce. Also played EP back during the Saban era. There's a rumor that he had once mentioned to a writer during the episodes of Samurai that he "doesn't consider the Disney-era as canon". Ahmit has stated that guest stars aren't 'uninvited' due to budget limitations, and that it is the decision of Tzachor to invite/uninvite a cast member. That being said, Rhett Fisher was invited only to have Jonathan Tzachor shoot him down and cite budget limitations as the reason. Jonathan Tzachor is also the reason that the writers of Megaforce were let go at the beginning of production of Super Megaforce and were replaced with (get ready for it) ... SAMURAI WRITERS. Here's cliffnotes version of Fury Diamond's explanation. So after Samurai received very negative remarks from the Power Rangers fan community, they brought in new writers for Super Samurai to try and improve what they could (and for the most part, the latter end episodes WERE better). Those same writers were kept on for Megaforce. They were trying to bring more originality and steer clear of "COPY/PASTE TRANSLATION" that the "Samurai" was. Those writers were let go at the break of Megaforce in to Super Megaforce. They were then replaced by the writers of "Samurai", and their stories re-written for Super Megaforce. That's a decision made by Tzachor. It's obvious that if we want the QUALITY of Power Rangers to improve, Tzachor needs to go. It's beyond obvious to me that all Tzachor intends to do is come in under-budget every year to look good for daddy Haim. He's single-handedly destroying the quality that Doug Sloan, Bruce Kalish, and Eddie G raised Power Rangers to (with seasons like Dino Thunder, SPD, Mystic Force, and RPM which all had darker tones, more adult themes, etc). Until then, I suspect Super Megaforce to be nothing more than a literal copy/paste of the Gokaiger episodes, but dumbed down because Tzachor wants to appeal to the lowest age possible. Because kids are dumb, kids can't handle complex stories, and adults and older fans? Psha. Enjoy the 2 minute cameo of your favorite Power Ranger. My expectations for Super Megaforce now that I see Tzachor has gone back to the dark side? No former theme songs played for past seasons. As much Sentai footage used as possible, even to the extent of copy/pasting actors in to Sentai footage like we saw in Samurai (Kevin being pasted in to a Sentai scene). No Titanium Ranger. No Phantom Ranger. No past villains. Just an "editted Super Sentai 35th Anniversary" series. Just disappointment. I hope I'm wrong. |
Any rant that employs Tranquil Fury is one that I deeply respect. You have that in spades here.

I almost wish Disney had control again. Not every season was bad, and they could do better than this hack. Seriously. Saban used to atleast act like he gave a shit about this.
|
blech.
Hearing that Samurai writers are being brought in for Super megaforce suddenly makes my excitement for season 2 drop down way, WAY low. Though the frustrating and sad thing is: with how well Samurai did, I doubt Saban cares enough about the fan community to really do anything or change anything. |
Yeah, I'm pretty much in agreement.
This isn't Disney, who was pretty much on the verge of cancelling PR at every other turn. I'm pretty damn skippy budget isn't really as much of an issue as they make it out to be now. They just don't want to put the money in. It's a shame what this man is doing, but it's most likely he won't be dropped any time soon, since he saves so much, and our best option is to hope he just...Leaves. |

Hard to believe this guy was in charge of In Space, one of the best Power Rangers series ever. Until he leaves, I doubt there's really any hope for Power Rangers. At the very least it will remain popular with children, who will have missed out on so much.

Fury Diamond, who has sources that are pretty high up in the world of Power Rangers, stated that the reason Super Megaforce was being re-written (remember his post about the story bible being changed and adapted for the second half?) is because they re-wrote all the stories that the Megaforce writers had written.
Fury has been right about everything thus far ... even the Silver Ranger being Cameron Jebo, which everyone called false when Cameron denied it only to end up seeing him on set with the other Rangers. |

Even better was if Jungle Karma Pizza became the Dino Curry of Power Rangers. |

this is way i hate myself getting back in to the power ranger tocolectiing bussiness now i enjoyed samurai but i still hated due to the fact shinkneger was one of my fave sentai i felt like i was watching a 4Kids edit of shinkneger with american actors. so i hope the rest of the staff rethink and hire the Disney era staff again maybe and i mean maybe we get a better things again that if but a highly doubt if of getting the disney era team of power ranger on board.

Copy/pastes of Gokaiger? I can't wait for all those people who complained Super Megaforce was doing something different to suddenly start complaining about this now that they've seemingly got their wish.
That aside, it'll be quite disappointing if true. The semi-originality of Megaforce has been a strong point for it so far, and I'd hate to see that go. |

Times like these I really wish Saban wasn't so cheap. I guess it's in the nature of Power Rangers to be cheap, but it's just really disappointing.
|
So not only have they barely got any past Rangers back that are worth a damn, Super Megaforce is going to be rewritten by the Samurai writers, which probably means a watered down Gokaiger?
Look I honestly cared little for Gokaiger because I have a history with Power Rangers, not Sentai. But due to different cultures, different censorship rules etc etc if Power Rangers does a straight adaptation of a sentai then it is bound to feel watered down and whitewashed, that is why when Power Rangers adapts it into something unique it gets much more praise, even if it didn't necessarily work. I'm caring less and less about Super Megaforce and this is supposed to be a celebration of one of my all time favourite franchises. |
This makes me sad and disappointed about Power Rangers, I'm just going to enjoy Gokaiger for the time being why they continue fucking things up, someone else needs to buy Power Rangers.
|
I've had views similar to Kickback's regarding Jonathon. Hearing this just reminds me that he will never care about anything other than getting a quick buck from the little kiddies that could care less about quality story telling.
As melodramatic as it sounds JT has to be fired if this brand is to survive. Giving PR back to Disney is a death sentence since they've proven time and time again Power Rangers wasn't their cup of tea. We've hit a dark time for Tokusatsu my friends. It's either Jon gets fired or Power Rangers dies. It's probably not that black and white, but at this point I'm viewing toku with the same glasses of jade Kenji Inafune sees the game inducsidy. It has gotten to that point with me. |
i want video game test out players like megaranger
how kids learn history in pr zeo i want milltray power ranger series like ohranger all 3 mmpr series is stuipd like tommy turn white ranger it all jon t falut |
Right now, I'm rather curious as to why Saban can't skip seasons. I know it's because of contracts with Toei that go back to 1993, but why would Haim sign "yes" to never skipping Sentai seasons? Furthermore, why would Toei need him to never skip a season?

So because adult fans, a tiny percentage of the viewers, are unhappy with the quality of the show, then Power Rangers is DOOMED? Really? I'm surprised that people are reaching that conclusion and I come from Transformers fandom that pretty much coined the "RUINED FOREVER" phrase.
Just ignore the fact that Samurai was the most popular Power Rangers has been in about decade, right? PR is in the best financial state is has been in a long time. It doesn't matter that we're unhappy, because the people that makes them the most money are very happy. Yes, the quality of Megaforce and Samurai isn't spectacular, but kids are loving it and buying the merchandise and watching the show and that's what makes something successful when it all comes down to it. I understand that it sucks that Power Rangers has really been down in quality lately, but I think its in a better position when it comes to success then it has been in a LONG time. |

We could skip Go-Busters and jump to Kyoryuger, because kids love dinosaurs and that would bring in cash because dinosaurs are cool and the popularity of dinosaurs is why Zyranger was the first Sentai to get adapted instead of Jetman (which was a runner up, from what I've read, but was dropped because dinosaurs). But then again I'm not an Economics Major, so I probably know diddly-squat about this. |

Power Rangers will endure. The toy sales are more than enough to ensure a moderately successful future.
Just because we old fans don't find it as compelling as it used to be (because frankly the lightning-in-a-bottle of RPM spoiled our perspective on things) doesn't mean things are over. |

Although RPM was great and one of the best, I don't think it's fair to say it was THE best, honestly Power Rangers has had more good seasons than bad ones and even the mediocre ones were enjoyable. People act like the Disney era was the worst thing to happen to Power Rangers minus RPM but honestly I think they had more consistent quality overall even if they didn't produce the best the show has to over individually, whereas Saban seems to only be able to produce fantastic seasons or utter garbage ones with nothing in between.
As such, it isn't that RPM has spoiled us, it's just that Samurai was one of the worst products Saban has put out (except for making them money) and although Megaforce is nowhere near as shit as Samurai, it still isn't as good as the fan favourites. I think what surprises me most is how little imagination both of them have had, although watching them back a lot of those early Saban series were cheesy, full of filler and awkwardly put together, they at least did something new and special with the series they were adapting (for the most part) and setting Goseiger in a high school and removing angels doesn't count as ingenuity, although it still isn't quite as much as a creative dead zone as Samurai was. I guess long gone is the time that Saban both cared about putting effort in, he clearly makes just as much, if not more money from crap like Samurai, so why bother putting in the effort making like space operas or whatever else? |
3 worst teams ups like ninja storm vs dino thunder and dino thunder vs spd

Kids also love Spies too. There's Spy Toys all over the toy aisle at your local Walmart, Totally Spies was a cartoon that pandered to girls as well as boys, and even back to the days of James Bond Jr. You mix that with animals that turn into cars and it's going to be a win. I won't deny that boys love dinosaurs more but it's still Power Rangers, and Saban knows that the kids will identify with that first and pick up with whatever theme goes along with it. And as always: ROBOT TOYS THAT COMBINE WITH OTHER ROBOT TOYS! ----------------------- Now onto my thoughts on this. I keep saying this, but I feel it's always worth repeating. We've grown up. Our tastes and maturity levels have changed. I absolutely love the Centurions franchise, both now and as a child, but recently I went back to watch all the episodes and wow, it's super cheesy! I couldn't even get through all the episodes. I was bored! Food for thought here. We've grown up. We can't expect a franchise aimed at kids to join us, and leave the children behind, that would be suicide. |

It IS possible to cater to both. It's been done before. |

Sadly there's just too much red tape apparently. |

I'm not saying some seasons didn't delivered better than others, that's a given. But, look at the "formula" we have now: Almost same exact theme song, almost same exact morph command, same season labeling (Super). It worked for Samurai, and Saban knows that, and chances are that it'll be the dynamic going forward. Regardless, it won't kill Power Rangers. It may alienate the older fanbase, but we're the extreme minority here. Quote:
Also, I read that a certain amount of footage was required to be used to be considered an "adapatation." Zord and Megazord battles should cover the 10 or 15% that I believe it's supposed to be. |

I know sticking with their current formula won't ruin PR financiallu any tie soon. Though honestly, I don't see how getting ambitous and shaking things up a bit would affect it either. I mean, kids would still get their superheroes and mecha beating the stuffing out of monsters, right? Honestly as disappointed as I am with the possibility of Erin and Rhett not coming back, I'm sprt of hoping they have some sort of production problems. Not for any malicious reason, but whenever they have some production problems, that's when they tend to shake things up. Oh, this might be our final season? Let's go out with a bang. Power Rangers In Space. Oho man, we just unexpectedly made a load of money off of that? Let's keep it in space. Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. Wow, this cast can actually act and work well together?! Let's make this really good. Power Rangers Time Force. Ahaha, Disney doesn't care anymore, let's do whatever the hell we want. Power Rangers R.P.M. |
ok i was thinking yes RPM was good Dark end every thing but i just realised it might end up being 3 to 4 years till we get a season by saban brands that ant MMPR like. cause remember it took 3 season to get zeo one ok to some the worst to most called turbo then in space then from there we gotten good season so remeber it might take a while for use to get the season like we want to happen that good to both fans and kids.
