Indonesian Toku - BIMA the Garuda Warrior

BIMA Satria Garuda ("BIMA the Garuda Warrior") is a new Tokusatsu show from Indonesia. What makes this more interesting than the usual non-Japanese/non-American Tokusatsu show is that it is co-produced by Ishimori Productions, the Japanese production company affiliated with Shotaro Ishinomori (famed creator of Kamen Rider and Himitsu Sentai Gorenger). It's even getting toys by Bandai!

Personally, I'm not sure it's up to par with Japanese productions, but it does look like it has massive potential, with very cool aesthetics at least. Plus, it's a show I can watch unsubbed if i want to because Indonesian is so similar to Malay, a language I'm familiar with!

That is a pretty cool design. Looks like the shows has pretty good CG as well. Interested to see where this one goes.

The article is in Bahasa Indonesia, sorry. I'm really proud that my country can finally create a promising Toku series, our previous attempt at creating superhero series aren't exactly successful quality wise. Hopefully this will be good.

Also, according to this article, choreography will be handle by Ishimori production, so hopefully it will be good.

The article also said that the designer and writer for the story will be Masato Hayase known for writing the manga Sea Jetter Kaito, manga Cyborg 009 Conclusion, S.I.C. Hero Saga novel, Kamen Rider Eve novel, KIKAIDER00 Novel and designing characters for Voicelugger, Kamen Rider Agito, Ryuki, Faiz, Hibiki, Kabuto, Den-O, Kiva, Decade, W, and OOO


Three choreographers from Japan, the cameraman and director is also from Japan, same goes to the equipments use to make the series.

Hopefully this will be starting point and it will lead to more series with local talents. Of course, there's nothing wrong about collaborating with foreign production, it's good to learn from the experts after all.
While the choreographers are Japanese, from what I've heard, the stunt team is Team Piranha from Indonesia. They are the stunt team that was involved with The Raid.

Now I'm really psyched for this

Oh hell. If Gackt is involved then I'm down. Even if he's just working on the music it works for me.

Seeing as I hate that song, I don't really care that he's a part of this. Get someone cool next time, like Hironobu Kageyama.

It's most probable that he will be playing a character in the series as GACKT is also an actor. He was the one playing Yuuki Joji in All Rider vs Daishocker. Being that this is an Indonesian series, the opening will be sung by an Indonesian singer. Hironobu Kageyama is not an actor (other than voicing Zaruba and some cameos here and there) so I don't get why he should be joining this.

Anyway, I don't see how the singer also has to be a character in the show. that hasn't happened plenty of times.

Those toys are pretty cool, Garuda's design is excellent and makes for fun toys.

can't wait for the upcoming SHFiguarts and SIC designs, gotta be pretty cool if they were to be realized

I watched the first three episodes, and they were great, but the video and sub quality was garbage. I know you can't complain about free stuff, but I'm kinda holding out for a better group to hopefully get ahold of better raws.

can't complain about the video too, airing on local television is BIMA looked like he was trapped in SD video World... and i feel sorry for him, the producers should resort on producing better outputs :)))))

but the design and the story is the BEST of the rest, especially VUDO, those bastards are really sly and intelligent, all they resort to attack was vital elements/objects to the whole country, like national bank, or the food supply transport chain :)))

Yeah but these rips looked like they were recorded on a VHS thirty years ago. I doubt that is how it looked on the TV, I dunno how, in this day and age, they got ahold of raws of such poor quality.

But the designs were great, and it had surprisingly good special effects and fight scenes.
