BIMA The Garuda Warrior: Indonesia’s Own Toku Series!
 

A new original Toku series, BIMA The Garuda Warrior is set to premiere in Indonesia on June 30th.

But what makes BIMA interesting is that it appears to be officially backed Ishimori Productions with merchandise provided by Bandai.

BIMA the Garuda Warrior tells the story of Ray, a young man from Earth chosen to protect the Earth from an evil named VUDO, whom is out to steal Earth’s natural resources

These designs look really interesting. They definitely look a lot more spiky than usual.
I can't stop seeing OOO's Love Combo in the hero's visor.

I see more of a fusion of Tajadol and Kuuga myself.

I agree with the Tajadol look going on with the helmet. Also, the suit itself reminds me of Ryuki's somewhat.

The whole thing looks pretty cool. Not too interested in watching it but I'm glad that other countries are trying their hand at this market. It's nice and refreshing to have new perspective.

Man, those design's kick ass!!! Its a shame that i only watch stuff in English or Japanese though. I get weirded out whenever i watch something in another language. Heres hoping we import this into an american show and do it right. Ill probably still watch a couple episodes though to see what its like.

Shouldn't be a problem. Bahasa Indonesia is pretty widely known and easy enough to translate. Most of the language is romanized in script anyway and Toku has a HUGE following in Indonesia and Malaysia so this will be translated rather easily. Question is how good the fights will be.

Maybe if they got the same fight coordinator from the Indonesian movies "Merantau" and "The Raid". That would be insane.

The fights are what worry me as well, Indonesia doesn't exactly have a lot of money to throw at things like this, big fans of the genre or not.

I'm worried about the special effects, fight coreography, and story. We (Indonesians) don't get any good superhero and special effects shows since.. I don't know.. few years..

I'm really hoping that this will be good. Now I got to buy an antenna for my tv.. lol.

That costume looks so cool! It's nice to see how other people do toku and after being unhappy with Wizard and Kyoryuger I need this. Here's hoping this show takes off and becomes a hit!

Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian is too busy choreographing and starring in Berandal, the sequel to The Raid. It's really too bad, it would be awesome if they can choreographed it. BTW, the actor for the main chara will also be doubling as the suit actor for BIMA.

The article is in Bahasa Indonesia, sorry. I'm really proud that my country can finally create a promising Toku series, our previous attempt at creating superhero series aren't exactly successful quality wise. Hopefully this will be good.

Also, according to this article, choreography will be handle by Ishimori production, so hopefully it will be good.

The article also said that the designer and writer for the story will be Masato Hayase known for writing the manga Sea Jetter Kaito, manga Cyborg 009 Conclusion, S.I.C. Hero Saga novel, Kamen Rider Eve novel, KIKAIDER00 Novel and designing characters for Voicelugger, Kamen Rider Agito, Ryuki, Faiz, Hibiki, Kabuto, Den-O, Kiva, Decade, W, and OOO


Three choreographers from Japan, the cameraman and director is also from Japan, same goes to the equipments use to make the series.

Hopefully this will be starting point and it will lead to more series with local talents. Of course, there's nothing wrong about collaborating with foreign production, it's good to learn from the experts after all.

Just got word that the series's script is going to be written by Masato Hayase, who's previously worked on the Kikaider anime.

^Yup, I just wrote it in my post above, he's also the character designer.

Did Masato Hayase writing good? I still not watch Kikaider anime yet, but I heard it's really "gloomy".

Yup, it's kinda dark and depressing, from what I have seen, it's definitely darker than the Tokusatsu Kikaider Just read my post to see what else he wrote. From the looks of it, most of them are kinda dark too.

Correction: Masato Hayase did not work as a writer in the Kikaider anime, only as a supervisor. He worked as a supervisor in both Kikaider and Kikaider 01 anime
