Ultimate Ranger Team Tournament - Yellow Division Round 7
 

Let’s play a game: The Gokaiger adaptation isn’t season two of Megaforce, it’s a brand new series with a brand old cast. The six Rangers are all returning characters from previous Ranger teams, gathered together to face off against the most powerful evil ever. But which six Rangers? That’s where this tournament comes in.

We’re going to cast this team with the very best Red Ranger, very best Pink Ranger, very best Blue Ranger, very best Yellow Ranger, very best Grack/Bleen Ranger, and very best Sixth Ranger.

The current team consists of:

The rules are simple: the Rangers of each color fight it out to see which one stands at the top of their personal section of the rainbow. The winners will be determined by popular vote, feel encouraged to explain your choices to help sway the undecided. Fights are all-out brawls – any power-up or weapon is permitted, short of the Zords.

Battles are decided by random selection and each character is represented for each of their colors (Rocky and TJ are in both Red and Blue, Tommy is in Red and Sixth, etc.). Rangers with multiple powers in the same color will be using the ones which are most unique to them (Adam is Zeo Green, Cassie is Space Pink, etc. – yes, this kinda shafts the Turbo Rangers, I know – all three Turbo fans are free to register their complaints). All major teams are represented, MMPR through Megaforce. Evil Rangers like the Psychos and A-Squad - as well as one-shot Rangers like Cat or SPD Red Bridge - are excluded.

Out of the 18 Yellow Rangers we've gotten in the history of Power Rangers, only three have been male outside of Sentai footage. Mathematically, you'd think one would have turned up in these polls by now. But we're totally not going to be changing that now. This time it's an alarmingly perky extreme athlete up against the baddest ass student in kung fu school.

Knowing how these random pairings have been, we'll probably have 2 male yellows against each other round 1.

Anyway, Lily. Of all the Lightspeed Rescue characters, Kelsey was the only one who wasn't already an emergency personnel or specialist character, just being good at roller skating. She's a good ranger, but she's one of the weakest of LR's cast.
Lily is a martial artist. She has this one easy.

Lily is my favourite yellow but goddamnit, so far it's been two yellows I don't remember facing off or one yellow vs one I don't remember, now my favourite yellow is pitted against another yellow that I really, really like.

I don't hate Kelsey, but I honestly don't remember anything about her, other than her love of extreme sports...

Really really. I just dig her attitude and energy.

I voted for Lily because… I can. She does have the advantage of sumoning a robotic cheetah from her soul.

I voted Lily. I didnt come to the decision easily but I felt it was right. I was really shocked to see the point spread once I voted

There was more to her? Aside from Carter and Pink (Whatever her name was) there were no real stories for the characters. There was extreme sports girl, Ocean Biologist Asian Man, and the Black Guy who was a Cowboy Stunt Pilot. Who was into Science Chick.

Add in some demons and that's about all I remember Lightspeed being.

Don't forget the Pink ranger was smoking hot. And the black dude in the cowboy hat who did stunts was the most rational member of the team.

I voted lily due to she one of my fave yellows and that she a cheetah master pai shwah so yea she wins

I don't particularly like Lily, but she gets my vote on the merit of actually having done something.

To be fair, I think in the first episode Kelsey did climb a rock.

If I recall correctly, there were several episodes of LR where Kelsey saved several civillians (and a dog, I think), by herself, while demorphed. Admittedly. Lily has the more dynamic personality and cooler zords.

On another note, Kelsey's actress went on to marry Canadian Director Eli Roth and was in his film; Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil. If you've never seen it, I strongly reccommend taking the time to do so.

Lily, because... What did Kelsey do in Light Speed Rescue again?

Skate.

Okay... anything of significance?

She's pretty much the closest thing we've had to an openly gay Power Ranger, but that's about it (seriously, rewatch the astronaut episode - that's not subtext, that is text).

Note to self: Watch Light Speed Rescue with same mind set as Madoka Magica.

Lightspeed Rescue has less underage decapitation. Although I can guarantee you that about 10 minutes into the Lost Galaxy crossover you'll wish a giant snake would come in and bite a little girl's head off. :lol

You don't like Lost Galaxy?

The LG crossover involved a little girl having more screen time than the Galaxy Ranger.

Oh yeah, must have forgotten that... thing.

Lily for 3 reasons.
1. She's a martial Artist.
2. I, like a lot of other people cannot remember Kelsey doing much.
3. We've already got a Lightspeed Rescue Ranger in this team.

I love Lily because she is able to be a mother figure to the team, while still being just as strong as anyone else in the team as well.

It kinda pisses me off how often the mother figure like team member is also a completely useless ranger. Like what is the show trying to say?

While I don't agree with the mentality that the team mom is the weakest, most seasons do, at least, go out of their way to outright state that most teams will fall apart the moment the mother figure is indisposed/taken out/leaves.

Lily, because, Kelsey who?

Not the weakest perse but I can't think of many mother figure Rangers who are also up in the top tier of Rangers that season as well.

What always impressed me about Lily is that she was usually the last one standing when the team was getting a beatdown. Casey and Theo would usually get knocked down first, but it was almost always Lily who lasted the longest. Between that and Jungle Master mode, I'd say she's probably the toughest Yellow ever.

And she was the one entrusted with the Elephant Mace by Master Phant, which added to that strength.

I love Master Swoop, but give me a Elephant themed Mace over fans anyday. I'm a Power Ranger. Not Kitana.

I also adore the contrast, Lily got Phant to come round through kindness and determination and he rewarded her with the power to SMASH.

I just love how Lily's perhaps near archetypal female traits never got in the way of her badass side.

No disrespect for Kelsey, but have to go with Lily on this one.

Lily is easily my choice to win this whole thing. she's the best 'strong female character' in all of Power Rangers.
